Hello! I have just inherited two Hermes scarves that were purchased in Paris in the late 60's early 70's. How can I find out information about them. They are even in their original boxes! Help!

hi - i'm very new to hermes scarf collecting and living in U.K - I call it collecting, well not really - just have one vintage Brides de Gala bought from ebay, hope to treat myself to a new one from Hermes in Bond St. anyhow i just wondered if there are any hints and tips to scarf cleaning, how to get rid of make-up and yellowing crease lines etc. all info would be welcomed, also maybe its me and maybe i'm not a scarf person although i so want to be, but does anyone wear the little pocket scarves, are they easier to tie around the neck as this Brides de Gala seems very large and i dont quite know how i will tie it. thanks again.

There's lots and lots of info on cleaning scarves on this board, please use the search function.
I wouldn't IRON creases into the scarf (can hurt the silk threads) but I would steam them in. Whether you want to do that or leave them flat, is a personal preference.

Regarding scarves directly from H and with defects. Yes, it does happen and there are horror stories of ghastly printing errors and the store being unwilling to refund/exchange.

I thought it would be interesting to post pics of a 35+ year old scarf I bought on eBay. I got the thumbs up on Authenticate This (thanks Seton!). The errors aren't ghastly as a whole but when you see the comparisons of the "good" side and "bad" side, it's kind of startling! I still love the scarf. Another fun fact - the scarf was so filthy when it arrived that I immediately hand washed it. I was so disgusted with all the dirt, stains and dried crud on the scarf (the seller stated it was in very good condition - maybe with beer goggles on!) that I gave up and threw it loose in the washing machine. I was fully prepared for it to be ruined but it came out quite fine. No runs of any kind! I even managed to plump up the flat ironed hems (ugggh) by rolling them between my thumbs and fingers. Enjoy!
