^^There was a teddy bear scarf at the Dallas NM in December that I grabbed on sale. I asked the SA if there were other H scarves on sale, and oh, btw, why were there actually any at all on sale, since they never were sale priced at NM before.

She told me the same thing--that all NMs culled their predominantly older scarf stock to send to only a few stores that were allowed to put them on sale. The sale scarf in Dallas had gotten mixed up with some other stuff and accidentally returned back to Dallas, so they decided not to return it to SF, since it was only the one scarf. According to this SA, NM got special, one time only permission/dispensation from Hermes to put some of their older scarves on sale, but only if it were a few stores, and none of those were allowed to be the NM stores with the more frequent scarf sales.

This is what I was told.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

Thanks for sharing your info. I haven’t heard anything different and/or new, I’m just kinda puzzle over their policy about having scarves for sale in NM, Bluefly etc etc

That’s a nice scarf you got, when I saw it in 2000, I picked Ombres et Lumieres instead. I have the scarf booklet for Confidents des Coeurs, if you would like the info., let me know.

Don't know if stock was acquired just to put on sale. That could be the case. But, the ones at $144 were the 35 in sq carres that currently retail at $325 ish.
By the time I got there, the only patterns available were older - Bal de Bulles & Aube. That could have been closeout stock but cannot tell

^Sorry Gga, here it is:

Fall/Winter 2000/2001

Confidents des Coeurs
*(Bear Necessities)

Around 1895, in Stuttgart, a certain Richard Steiff, who had to draw bears in the zoo, undertook to make some into fur toys. Two Americans were so charmed by this initiative that they ordered 3000 copies of his creation for the fair at Leipzig. So there is an Anglo-Saxon connection for our most faithful companion, not only of childhood, but also adulthood, since one of the teddies in this scarf was the bosom friend of a charming octogenarian, whose express wish was to have it buried with her.

Artist: Loic Dubigeon
Available in 10 color-ways
Ref: 00 2054 S XX (XX = would be whatever your color-way is)

*Bear necessities sounds wrong (although that's what the book says :confused1: ), but Coeurs means heart and confidents is simply confidante ... Heart Confidante ...

Thanks again for all that info on NM, nice to know where the sales are held.

Hi MarieTouchet,

thanks for your insight ... I'm quite keen to have a look at the scarves myself, would be nice to buy some at a lower price. Thanks for the heads-up on the sale. Very much appreciated.

Hello,
Can you help identify this scarf for me? I want to make sure it is authientic and any info would be helpful: Name, year, etc. Thank you! Lisa

The Title is Timbalier, by Francoise Heron, I think. Designed first ca 1965. The motif is a drummer boy, from the army in the days of Louis XIV. The scarf in question is probably a recent reissue ca 1990s.

Update on the sales at Neiman's

1. Yes the stock was brought from Hermes into the stores specially to be put on sale
2. Older patterns and less desirable colorways and large numbers of each, there were 6 identical brown Aubes, 6 identical beige bal de Bulles and 6 identical Kilims on my 2nd visit.
3. The scarves looked brand new, never folded or creased or wrinkled
4. I rummaged through 6 identical Kilims (viridian, cherry and purple) to select one. They did not appear to have defects in the silk, but 1 of the six lacked a caretag and another had a caretag hanging by a single stitch - not 3 stictches

Regarding sale scarves everywhere...

I suspect that H has too much overstock (see my post about NM sales scarves being clearly overstock) to get rid of through their own sales, and they are now farming it out to NM, Overstock, Bluefly etc

This is the 1rst time EVER EVER EVER that NM has had them on sale

MT: Thanks for checking on this. Unbelievable but true, actually bought a scarf from the H store to see a run on the silk and pointed it out and told them that this should be a defective scarf. Which is why I'm curious about H policy on their recent sale items. Hope you got a couple of goodies yourself.

ETA: How long does the sale last? Would you know?

The sale at NM has been going for a while, and stocks are quite low. Well, that is not exactly right, few designs but piles of each of the 3 carre designs , all in the same cw.

Yes, I did get a few goodies - a turquoise Patchwork - 5 scarves in 1, and a Kilim in viridian/red/purple. The latter was $144 but had a tag originally marked $245. I asked about that - the SA said the carres were $245 when first put on sale some time ago.

The sale evidently coincided with NM's January sale, with pre sales advertised to custoemrs, later advertised in the paper.

One friend got a Bal de Bulles and I go Monday to pick up a 2nd for another buddy.
