Seton, I listened again, and you're right, he says it's Cosmogenie with 45 and Wakone with 46 (the max).
I can't believe how it's difficult to listen to bad French accent (and people I talk to have to go through that...). And after, he shows Pani.

Marietouchet, thanks for your input. I'll try to be more careful next time!

It's too bad they don't release info, it's fascinating. But then, we wouldn't want them to help the conterfeit market...

My curiosity is piqued but I failed to find the detail in question

But there are no buildings in Chapeau ! the word means hat in French and the design shows old hats, some are ca the French revolution, and lots of feathers, hatboxes, and flourishes. The girl bottom right is wearing a ginormous hair bow ...

Anyway, there are 11 pictures - counting left to right - - can you pls tell me the number of the photo with the intriguing detail ?

marietouchet- I'm sorry I forgot the pic number. It is pic number 6 in the listing. It's middle right overall on the scarf. Depending on how your brain porcesses it I can see it as a wavey basket holding stuff, or buildings with the squiggle topping it off (it's probably another OTT hat in the shape of buildings or a basket!) and the squiggle looks too deliberate to me to be random so I was wondering what might be the significance. It's so much fun trying to research and process all the information in a scarf. And man, that wild orange CW! :D

Now I'm counting hats!

I did a general search both here on TPF and on the web, but can't seem to find an answer to my question about Annie Faivre's "Chapeau". (I promise it's not a monkey question, :P I already see it.) If anyone see's this and knows if there's some significance of the squiggle that kind of looks like a signature worked on to the right side of the design as the building tops, I'd love to know.

I see the building-basket signature squiggle in picture six. It clearly ends with a 5. I have no information but am now dying to know too.

If I squint, I can make the bow look like an A: I can kind of make the squiggle look like "Annee 5," which could be a sort of English-and-French pun on Annie Faivre. But that's probably a stretch.

Thanks for the fun puzzle. I hope somebody has an answer. I think you are right -- it has to be some kind of word.

I agree! But what, is a mystery!

I forgot the Koto Bolofo book collection - see Amazon - it has a volume on scarves mostly pix, very little text, not my favorite, but pretty , ditto for the Menchari book on the windows

oooohhh that is too bad .. that you already have the Coleno book The Coleno book was officially sanctioned by Hermes and it has the most real information about the Hermes scarves - as opposed to eye candy pictures

The is this problem of copyrights - any book not sanctioned by Hermes - has to dance around the copyright problem . I guess you can show a picture of a scarf that the author owns, but you cannot reproduce info from the Hermes booklets, without permission H guards its info and keeps it very close to the chest - thus, keeping up the Hermes mystique I know several collectors who declined to write books about their scarves

The seasonal scarf booklets - 2 a year - can be found in the resale market, they have info, but there are like 80 - 100 of them ...

There are bits and bobs of info in the French Hermes books, but they are low yield books, not much info for the price. I liked to HTF Jean Louis Guerrand book but it is the story of the life of one of the H family, not a book concentrating on scarves. Again in French ..

Sorry but there is little info apart from the Coleno book .

Once again, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I will try to dig further into the french books.

Just a small offtopic: Once again I would like to thank all the experts in this thread, you are awesome! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and keeping our love and fascination for the H scarves alive, I am learning so much thanks to you!

good morning ladies! i'm not new to the forum but don't know very much about Hermes and figured this would be the best place to ask some questions about scarves! I saw a scarf called le geographe and it had a map of Australia in the center and some other historical things on it. I was wondering if anyone knew the story behind this scarf and others from that series? I looked on google and saw a few others that also had Australia. I was hoping there were other continent map scarves (i know, i'm a dork). Anyway I love the stories behind things like this and figured maybe one of you knew. I didnt want to start a new thread but didnt see another place where this question would really fit in.

Thanks in advance!

The design was from 1992AW, so, start by tracking down the Hermes scarf booklet from that collection , it is a starting point because it does have a description

Thew booklet is of course copyrighted and H frowns upon reproducing booklet pages on the web so I shall demure

There was an old thread on TPF with booklets, try looking there

PS the medallions are each labeled with the name of person depicted, so, you can google each name and get lots of info that way too

Thank you so much! I'll try looking for the booklet from that collection to see what others were produced. XO!

Hi! This is a great research on this scarf http://dragonflyblu.blogspot.ru/2008/10/musings-on-le-geographe.html?m=1

Hope it helps!

I was referred to this thread from another one...

I have not so much an identification question, more like a "what is it?" question. I have 3 daughters and a wife and am picking up holiday presents on the cheap. I came across this item in the Tout en Carre theme from a local seller who claimed it was a twilly. It appears to be genuine but it's not a twilly. Her back story is that she worked for a certain royal family in the middle east and one part of her job, for a few days, was to model uniforms. For what, I don't know. But this came from that "engagement."

Does anyone have any idea of what it is? Some sort of ascot/necktie thing? I'm stumped. It's approx. 33" long and 4" at the widest parts at the ends. I'm leaning towards some sort of ascot from a uniform, possibly a flight attendant.

Thanks in advance!

I have a question too, regarding an ebay auction: http://m.ebay.com/itm/121506698543?nav=SEARCH

Does this kind of box exist? The seller doesn't take questions at all, so I can't ask if it's a regular box, with a hole inside and a picture of the scarf, or if it's a big display? Anyway, it looks really strange to me.
(I didn't ask in the authentification thread because I'm not intending to buy at that price, and even if I was, there is no high def picture of the scarf itself)

Thanks!

I have a Ferronnerie question. What year was this design issued in a pink/brown/purple/white colorway (pink border, brown wrought iron, purple ribbons, white and cream in the center)?

My Ferronnerie was purchased for me from the website, I'm just trying to recall what year. I'm thinking maybe 2004? Can anyone be more exact?

That is the packaging for on flight purchases. Your Air France Cosmos should have come with that packaging.
