There was a special issue done for the 50th anniversary of Duty Free Shops. From time to time, private companies arrange such a thing with H. The ones without this line of text were the regular Marwari twills done for the Year of India.

I just picked up this Pani-la-Shar Pawnee at a local consignment shop. There is a lady in town who is selling off her (sizable) collection, one or two carrés at a time, and the shop has learned to call me when they get her pieces in.

She has kept her scarves in the boxes, and they are all in good condition, but it's possible to tell which ones she liked the best! Because of the slight wear at the corners, I'm thinking this might be the original issue. Can you tell by the CW? (There was no care tag.) Also, I have seen both 1982 and 1984 as the original issue date... do you happen to know which is correct?

Thanks in advance for your help!

pani was introduced in spring 1984 and original issue should have vintage copyright. btw, pani has 29 screens, not 35-36.
Thank you for the information (and the correction), seton! I should know by this time, never trust a blog, unless it's been written by a true carré expert!;)

So I have studied my scarf, and have only found one copyright mark. Although I have pored through all the references I can find, I don't know how to tell if mine is a "vintage" copyright or not. Can you please straighten me out?

The first photo is a close-up. The second shows the placement of the copyright on the carré: upper left corner, on the vertical.

Again, thank you for your time and your willingness to share your expertise.:smile1:

the "(C) HERMES" in the upper left corner is the modern copyright.
yours is NOT original issue.
Thank you so much, Seton. I appreciate your help.

I have read that this scarf has been re-issued many times since 1984... I don't suppose there is any way I can tell what year this one was made? Perhaps by CW? (I promise this will be my last question about this carré. I don't want to be a pest.)

the answer is no.
esp. for a scarf that has been reprinted many times and cws were REPEATED many times.
my best guess is late 80s or early 90s.

btw, attached is what the vintage copyright on original issue pani looks like.

Yes, I see. That makes perfect sense.

Thank you for your "best guess" ... and most especially for the photograph. On my scarf, KO's signature is still on the bottom right of the scarf, but the © beside Hermès Paris is missing.

Hello marietouchet! I am so lucky I found this thread. I have now bookmarked your guide as part of my researches!

I've come acrross a scarf I think is interesting and think I found the name it is called finally, Tourbillion. Can anyone tell me more about it? I haven't searched Piwigo yet for years of issue and am also wondering what kinds of fabric it was made in and also what sizes it was done in?

And I also have a general question about the smaller pochette/gavroche size scarf versus the 90cm scarves. When Iook at 90 cm scarves, I look to see if all the things in the guide are there. But does the same thing hold true on the smaller scarves regarding artist name and scarf title when it's not something obvious like BdG?

Many thanks!

Another Hermes myth ... Many Hermes scarves lack title, signature etc. They dont always have all that stuff. The identifying marks may be present on a 90cm but absent on a gavroche, or vice versa. Some 90s may have them, others not etc etc

There are absolutely no hard and fast rules for Hermes scarves

Yes, do go to Piwigo to see what years they have for reissues. You may find different dates at other sites like Luxury Zurich, or Seton's site.

As Seton notes, just a few posts before, some scarves have been reissued a BILLION times and keeping track of the dates and variants is somewhat beyond the scope here.

Thank you for taking time to respond marietouchet. I did as you suggested and looked for years of issue for Tourbillion. On Piwigo there was 1968 and I also found mention of 2003 here, though there may be others. Do you know by chance if it may have been issued in a chiffon/mousseline fabric?

Please check the reseller threads; just a reminder that you cannot identify the scarf or details about where it is being sold.

Thanks.
