I have a 1970s Thalassa with the copyright after the logo
There are many combos of logos, copyrights etc depending on date of issue and format (eg gavroche, 90cm., I seem to remember it in fluide ... ).
Thank you, marietouchet! It's confusing, because I've seen it with and without the ©, both from reputable sellers. And both in the 90cm size. (But quite probably from different years, so that's the most likely explanation.)

There is nothing standard about Hermes scarf markings - they change over time and are not the same for all formats (90cm, VS70, etc etc).

Can any one tell me please if Grande Tenue came in a pocket square?? I have a chance to purchase one in a lovely baby blue color way but am having a hard time even finding any pocket squares in that design! Thanks for any help! I've tried pwigo, search thread here but mostly I get 90cm or GM shawls (which are all lovely!!)

Hi, I have one of the Princess Grace Foundation limited edition scarves from 1982/83. I received it from a friend who had gone to the fundraiser that year and only 100 scarves were made in this design. Is there any one who can suggest a value please?

I also posted this question in the Identification Thread... I really wasn't sure where the appropriate place to post would be. Sorry for the redundancy.

I purchased this Quai aux Fleurs in NYC in approximately 1992, probably from the Hermès boutique, but it might have been from the Hermès counter at one of the department stores. I know that this carré was originally issued in 1952, but I can't imagine that the one I purchased 40 years later had been sitting around for all that time, so it must have been a reissue. However, my research has not turned up any information on reissue dates (though I am pretty sure it WAS reissued); specifically, when (if???) this colorway was reissued.

Also, I don't know if this is important, but even when I first purchased it, this scarf was never stiff with sizing; it was always soft and "drapey."

I am just posting an overview photo, but I can easily post close-ups if anyone wants to see them. Thank you in advance for your help!

I'm not sure if I'm in the correct thread to post this question, so please smack me :smash: and give me a gentle shove in the right direction if I've goofed.

I've been eying the Aux Pays des Epices design for about a month, in a variety of colorways, and I have it on my wish list. However, as I study it more closely, I've been wondering how easy it is to wear.

It is a gorgeous, typical A.F. design... tons & tons of detail... but the majority of the detail is towards the CENTER of the scarf. As you go out toward the borders, all you see is the string of chile peppers, then a thin border line, and then you're at the edge of the scarf.

I typically wear my carrés by creating a basic bias fold, and going from there. For those of you who own this scarf: when tied in this way, does enough of the pattern show up? Or is this a scarf that has to be worn more "open" in order to show? (i.e. a Cowboy Knot, or just a regular triangular wrap.)

Thank you in advance!

IMHO yes wear this one in a simple bias fold or triangle

The current fashion is to wear scarves all smooshed up around the neck , thus the popular scarves now have tee tiny busy designs , ex anything by Christine Henry

The older designs with large motifs work disappear when smooshed

Just saw good photos on scarf of day thread , look at most recent posts

Libres Comme like air is another Faivre with a wide border, but the action shots of that one tied like a man's tie are quite good

Thank you for the suggestions, marietouchet! And thank you also for pointing me to the shots of Libres Comme L'Air, which I also own, and which I wear in a similar way (except not as tight at the throat... will have to try that!).

After writing to you, I tried something else, on Les Voitures a Transformation, which has this wonderful red & grey basketweave center that nobody ever sees. I used a divided scarf ring to make long ends (instead of knotting, so that the effect would be smoother), and then instead of letting the ends hang down in front, I turned the whole thing 1/4 turn to the left. One of the ends hangs to the front, the other to the back. Now the middle of the scarf (where the spices would be) is very visible. And the basketweave shows!

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, but I couldn't find another thread even remotely close.

I own a full-sized, high-quality steamer (it's about the size of a person and stands on the floor). After I take off one of my Hermès carrés, I clip it on to a skirt hanger (just below, NOT on, the rolled hem), facing AWAY from me, and I steam it from the back; that is, on the "lighter" side of the scarf. It only takes a few swipes of the steamer, and the wrinkles come right out. Then I let it cool down, and I am able to fold it and put it away.

My question is, am I injuring the silk in any way by doing this? And is there a better way of taking creases out of a scarf? Steaming seemed less intrusive than ironing, but I still worry.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I have a vintage Hermes Grande Tenue silk scarf, It's new never worn and in original box. I have taken it to my local Hermes store in Manchester Kings Street to try and get more info on it and they recommended I visit this forum! The store has confirmed it's authentic but I'd like to know about the design?

Kind regards and many thanks in advance!

It is Grande Tenue by Henri d Origny first came out in the mid 1980s. Reissued many times. yours looks to be an older issue.

Don't know if this the right thread to post this question but have been wanting to get 90 silk Marwari for somtime now. And in looking at different scarves out there, I've noticed on some, above to the right of "Hermes Paris" it says "Pour Les 50 Ans de DFS" and some don't have this wording. I've posted two pictures as examples and was wondering what the significance is. The first shows this language, the second doesn't (and its not as great a picture but you can still see that the absence of this phrase). Really appreciate if anyone can help. Thank you!
