Thanks for your help :smile1:

But what have I done now??!! Just redone my nails in daylight...I have dodgy eyes so need good light....the brushes in the structure and brilliance have gone all stiff.....I'd only done about two nails when it happened. Guess it's started to cure? The brushes are tricky to use now. Is there anything I can do apart from get new bottles of each? What a nerd....

If I do my nails under a electric light will it cure or is it just sunlight that has that effect?

Thank you...again

Sunlight is a major source of UV exposure. That's why there is sunblock. You're not the first to have it happen, though. ;)

Ok thanks. Now for the next silly question.....

I take my brushes out of the bottles and soak in acetone for (say) a day.....can I just leave the bottles of product in a darkened place with no tops on?

Sorry....I'm new to this and want to get it right! Loving having groomed nails for the first time in 42 years.....

You could put foil over the top and then place in a dark place. Here are some swatches of french manicures

Thanks again :)

Can anyone tell me the difference between Nervous with Anticipation and Camera Shy? Wondering which is best for a french manicure? Struggling to find a picture of both....

Nervous with Anticipation is completely clear/sheer with a pink tint. It compares with CND Shellac Clearly Pink or Gelish Simple Sheer. Camera Shy is a bit opaque, somewhat sheer but also with a hint of pink. It's like Jessica Geleration Sweet Breath. Either one is good for french, but I think NwA is a more natural look and CS a more polished look.

Hello everyone! i have a question. I purchased a red carpet system at the end of July and so far love it. i had a few issues with the polish curing properly with the mini portable (battery operated light) and I was able to exchange it for the pro 45 light. after using the pro once my hands were dry and itchy so i removed the gel to see if it might be an allergy a week later my hands are still very dry and itchy and so are my feet and legs (but I didn't use the gel on my toes at all). Do you think i can try to use the system again or wait until I no longer have irritation. I am pretty sure its just dry skin from the weather starting to change, and i should mention that we got a new puppy as well 3 1/2 weeks ago too. thanks for your help!

That can be the hard thing about allergies, it can be difficult to figure out what it is especially if you have more than one potential allergen. If you really want to figure out if you're allergic to the gel or not, you may want to try it on only one nail to see if there's a difference between that nail and the others. I can't see anything on your nails causing an allergic reaction on your toes when you didn't even use the products on them. As a general rule, you should make very sure that the product doesn't touch your skin in its uncured state. That means leaving a thin margin of unpolished nail surface all around the edges when you polish your nails. Also, making really sure that your nails are properly cured. Some things that help in that area are; using led curable polishes with either an led or regular uv light, but using only a uv light with uv curable polishes. Good quality lamps with bulbs that aren't worn out. Holding your fingers in such a way that the light is able to shine on all of the nail surface. Watch your timing, dark colors may need more time than light colors. Those are just a few suggestions, someone else may figure out more.

Personally, I would wait til you have no irritation on your hands before you use it, regardless of what is causing the itching.....(which I personally would think isn't related to the gel if it's also on your legs and feet. Contact allergies don't generally "travel".)

Thanks for your replies. I don't think its the gel because while my hands are way more irritated/drier than my legs and feet, i do have the irritation on my legs and feet and the gel was no where near them. I'll keep waiting, i went to the pharmacist today to ask for advice and got a new lotion she said should help, I hope so! while I really hope I'm not allergic to gel I also really hope I'm not allergic to my new dog because that would be even worse. I let you know! Jill

Also thanks for all the great advice so far! I've read through this thread and most of the Gelish ones. so far I'm using all red carpet products except for 2 Gelish polishes and I was initially using the red carpet mini light and switched to the pro 45 light.

My chin and right eye used to itch when I used RCM or Gelish. I think I was touching my face without knowing it during the manicure, or maybe it was just fumes, something evaporating that was bothering me.

I started wearing a thick stretchy headband across my chin an no more itchy itchy.
Strange, but true.
