Question? Do you wear your wedding ring on the outside or inside?

I like all of my rings to slip on and off without having to use lotion or soap, but not too loose that I'm afraid of losing them when my hands are cold! My engagement ring is a 1/4 size smaller than my wedding band because I wanted to make sure that on cold days, I won't lose either one! Also, since the stone is my engagement ring is set high, I don't like it when that ones spins - I want it to sit on the top of my finger all the time.

i think i got my wedding band at like a 4.75 almost a size 5....and my e-ring i think is the same maybe size 5...im going to see how my wedding band fits and then go from there...i think i will wait til it gets a little warmer out to see if my e-ring fits better cause i dont want to size it now and then have it be too small in the summer time...

When you wear both your engagement and wedding ring together do you wear the wedding ring closest to your heart and the engagement ring on the outside?? That's what I've been told. But now a days you can do whichever! Thought it would be fun to know what you do and why?? TIA! :flowers::flowers:

I found this online:

Place a wedding ring on the ring finger of your left hand. Tradition says a vein from this finger runs directly to the heart, putting a ring worn here closer to the heart than a ring worn on any other finger.

I wear it both ways, no particular reason.

ETA: I just asked Mom, she says you should wear your ER first and your WR second because you get engaged and then married, it makes sense somehow, that's how she wears it too. I told her about the the vein going to the heart and she said, "honey, you need more than putting the ring next to your heart to make marriage work" :roflmfao:

ahahaa ur mom is too funny!! i thought when i was younger that the ering is first because thats what happened first too. it made sense to me, but i guess i just go with tradition and will wear my wedding ring closest to my heart.

The tradition of wearing the wedding ring first with the engagement ring on the top and on that particular finger on the left hand started because it was believed that the vein from that finger goes direct to the heart!

Thats also where it is said to be bad luck if the wedding band is removed. It was thought to have 'broken the spell of love' and once put on the finger by the groom should not have been removed until death. That's also why the groom physically puts the wedding band on the finger rather than just handing it to the bride.

I follow this tradition.
