Silver Mom, I like those suggestions, but am going with something a bit smaller and more simple, like a 10mm wide gold ring over the the most fractured part. I want to save as much of the green as possible. If it starts fracturing more, I Iove the half covered and carved one, and this would be my plan B. It looks like old Chinese work, and the hinged one looks like mid 20th century and up Chinese work. Thanks for finding those so much!

Designingstyle, it's jadeite from Burma. It is very hard to give a value to it because of not knowing the grade of jade. Grade B jade came onto the market in the late 1980's, and most people who bought it didn't know about that jade treatment. It makes jade gorgeous, but ruins the strength of the stone, and has very little value. So, it could be that someone purchased a B jade, thinking it was A, and had it set in gold and diamonds. Also, the diamonds could be of greatly varying quality depending on the inclusions, color and cut. Are the single cut diamonds (16 facets) or brilliant cut (50-something)? Best is to send it to the GIA because there are many factors in assigning value to such a piece. Either that, or just trust that it is beautiful and that you love it. It's very lovely, and if it is grade A, fantastic!

You know what? I really do believe it chose me! Regarding the band, I see how gorgeous yours is with the band, and it makes me think I'd do it without any fractures. Yours is so beautiful and warm...and the white metal and diamonds are like a cool glass of water on a hot day next to the colors of the jadeite. I was thinking 18k yellow gold with an ancient gold look. I was wondering about stones. Here the question comes up again....should I put diamonds in this bangle which was inexpensive? They are the only thing that would be tough enough besides sapphire, which could also be nice. It would be a green and blue look which would match my sapphire engagement ring. I'm thinking little diamonds or sapphires placed in a swirly curves, like the peaks of sand dunes. Or, just gold?

So happy for you! I can FEEL your joy! :)

Designingstyle, FWIW, it doesn't look like Grade B to me. It looks like a high quality piece, but again, you have to consider the diamonds, workmanship and gold in giving a value. I've also never bought any jadeite other than bangles, which are differently priced than smaller pendants because cutters have to use the best parts of the stone for a bangle. So a buyer pays a premium price for that. This is why a pendant of imperial jade might cost $50,000 where as a bangle will cost $2,000,000.

Thank you so much for your comments Clairejune. I appreciate your sharing your knowledge. I was curious about them since these are my first two pieces. Can you share the jojo site that is mentioned here?

Your so welcome, Designingstyle. I'm happy to help! Jojojadefinejewelry is a dangerous place. You might get the "jade fever" that so many of us have. Thanks for joining us here, and please post the jade items that inspire you!

Regarding the decision to keep the green bangle or not, the question has come down to; would you accept the worst quality in order to also have the best quality? Hmmm, almost a philosophical question. I'm going to keep it because I love how extreme it is in both ways. It's got character, that's for sure.

Hi clairejune, I think you got a really nice piece for the price. If the lines are not visible to the naked eye personally I wouldn't be too bothered after all what people will see and compliment you on is on the luminosity of the colour. This can be a piece you can enjoy for its beauty of colour while you wait for another high quality piece to "choose you" later .

Thanks ladies.

Have just read through the whole thread I have to say you ladies are gutsy for buying online. This is not something I'd do but then it's because I live in a county with very easy access to jade merchants and jewellers.

Oh...easy access sure sounds wonderful if it applies to me...but again...I might go broke in an instant...LOL.
