Jadeite, I would love to be able to go to stores and pick out jade! It would become my favorite pass time. You're lucky indeed. I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico and though we have lots of great artisan jewelers here, there's no jade. Also, when I went to China Town in San Francisco, there was sooo much jadeite there, but I'm sure 99% of it was B or C jade :( I've found buying online pretty good once you find out who is reputable, like Jojojade and Ultimate Jadeite and who is not, like Jadeisus and Ying Yu Jade. There are 4 other sites that seem reputable and their products don't look like B jade, but I have no personal experience with them.

Indeed a lovely way to pass time by just going to a few of your fav jade shops, talking shop with the gem masters there and just browsing. If you have a good dealer, he or she should know to contact you when a piece of your interest shows up. easy access can easily spoil one person indeed, I don't think many here in my country buy online since their local dealer is just anyhow no more than 20mins drive away, there's really a lot to choose here. Same in hong kong, taiwan, malaysia for example. we also have a gem institute so its fairly easy to find out if our jade is grade A jadeite or not, very much like your GIA I think. For you ladies here who may not have a store nearby, it does make sense when you say you buy from a reliable site, most importantly it is known to you and that you FEEL comfortable with. I'm maybe more old school and like seeing, feeling, inspecting these accessories in person.

Druzy, the other sites are Desire Treasures ebay, Jade Nature shop ebay, 3jade ebay, koojade ebay and Enijew (but not crazy about the selection.) Lots of those come with certifications. Check them out and let us know what you think. The jade seems good, but again I have no personal experience and ebay is as we know full of fraud. Still, there are reputable sellers there. It's just a matter of discovering who's who. This is where a forum of jade shoppers and investigators has a great advantage, to educate others based on their experience.

All that said about other possibly reputable dealers, I haven't had the guts to buy from any of them. If you do, I would start with an inexpensive piece, and ask a million questions first, like about their certificates. Look on line for reviews about the labs from which they came. Look up the lab, ask about 'stone lines' because some are minor and some are major. With the green jadeite bangle I got, well, I was in the mood for some risk. It very different than I thought it would be. It isn't nephrite, it has extreme fractures/stone lines which are surface reaching instead of the advertised "few stone lines." Miraculously, I still think I got a good deal because it has great color and translucency, so I am happy. It did not come from the sites which I mentioned, but still, this is probably a common experience buying from ebay. Be immediately suspicious of jade that has even fair translucency regardless of color for under $2500. Nobody is going to sell you an A grade, fairly translucent bangle for less. Also, it's a good idea to buy a gemological UV light with both long and short wave UV. This will detect polymer, except in extremely rare cases.

OMG, Druzy, don't buy from that site ever!!!!!!!It's the sister site of Ying Yu Jade! Just by the price, it's b jade. A jade in that translucency and purity of color would go for $20,000. The owner of Ying Yu Jade, which is 90% enhanced, and the natural stuff is both low quality and WAY overpriced, told me that her enhanced bangles are on JadeBangleBracelects.com. Thanks for looking out for me though. I really appreciate it.

Jadeite, that is exactly the look that I want! Gorgeous, just gorgeous. It's a contemporary example and take on an ancient classic. Thanks so much. That's it. Thats what I'm going to do.

I really hope that post didn't come across as rude. My first instinct was just to let everyone know about that site. I should have mentioned it before, but I forgot. I really appreciate your kindness and don't want to come across in a gruff manner. Sorry if I did.
