Petals, It would be terrible for my wallet too if I lived near that store! Gorgeous things at great prices. You are so lucky. Barbie, nice find. It looks like a really unique color and the color seems really contemporary to me. Almost like a new spin on a great classic. Very cool. You all have great photography skills too. I'll take a few more later and outdoors during the day to try to get some better pictures up. The ones I took look nothing like them IRL. Petals, red jade is pretty rare. JOJO had some great red jade leaf pendants recently. It takes a lot of looking, but it is worth it. I have a full deep green bangle with red and yellow that my mom gave me as a wedding present. She got it at an antique store in China, and I've not seen anything like it. Yours is as unique, and old stalk. Maybe the 'old mine' really did produce great stuff in colors too.

Your wedding gift from your mom sounds gorgeous...please post a pic or two of it when you have a chance...I alwayz enjoy seeing pics of jade...esp. unique ones

Okay....I finally bought the so-called winter melon color jade bangle and a lavender heart pendant today...here are some pics of my new toys...

Oh gosh, those are gorgeous! You have a GREAT collection! May I ask how many bangles you own? Would be great to see them all together. Also, which is your favorite?

The next expensive bangle I get is going to be lavender one. I saw one at jojo right after I bought mine that is amazing. Wish I had the money for it right now! I'll save for my dream bangle, a deeper blue lavender one that is mysterious looking as it it came from an enchanted stream with violets growing on the banks! I also want to get some blueish lavender earrings to match my other two blue/lavender bangles. I think it is great to have a set, like your lavender one. I will post my wedding present bangle when I get it from re polishing soon! OK people, what would your dream bangles look like?

Where do you go to get your jade repolished? Never knew you could do that.

I found Dan Stair from pricescope. If you go to the colored stones forum, at the top there is a thread about trusted vendors. There are great lapidaries on that list as well as precision stone cutters and gem dealers. It's a great resource. Anyway, I sent him my bangle and he's working on it. He charges $35 per hour, so it's not bad. Polishing Jadeite is not something that most jewelers can do. It is tough and requires the right polishing agents. Dan has a good reputation and I trust him. Can't wait to get it back.

how do you know when it is time to repolish?

Well, It's just a personal decision. Mine had tiny little scuffs and scratches on the outer surface that were noticeable in strong light. I think these distracted from the color. With more pale bangles, it would be harder to see these, but with strong colors, they can be quite evident. I also love that super glassy shine. Mine is older, so it probably already had lots of wear when I got it. It is also prone to getting scratched because it's a bit too big, like 2 mm.

Yay, I just called my jeweler that I use all the time and she said they do polishing too. So happy to hear that. My jeweler has made quite a few jade pieces for me. I like their work. It never even occured to me to get my jade repolished. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you Druzy. I think Petals' is a bit deeper in color tho. I think I love all jades tho. Everyone has a personality of it's own. We are lucky that we have them. Cheers

Me too, all are beautiful from cheap to expensive. I just can't get enough and don't think i'll ever stop collecting them.
