yeah, the inner one is the smaller white bangle. Ooh, gold bangles as a sandwich ? i might try that, i am eyeing a love bracelet. Would the gold metal chip the jade or cause more inner cracks ? I am really scared, i feel like i either wear jade on its own or gold, mix metals separate. Actually, i can live with that, it is the noise/ chime it makes.. too noisy

by the way Bread, when is yours arriving ?

A really late update, i bought a pale green jade bangle online in august and two weeks later, i decided that it is a little too big for me at 56mm and bangs around so much at my desk job, hence, placed another order for a white, greyish jade bangle at 51 mm.

The 51mm fitted really well and i had to really squeeze my hand in to fit. However, i feel that i can really go even smaller like 49 mm for a better fit. Well, i will wait till i go to the jade markets in Hong Kong and buy in person. Buying online is truly a leap of faith:D
I have been wearing it 24/7 non stop for 2 weeks.

Now, i don't know what to do with 2 bangles as i can't wear them as a stack as they are too noisy. Perhaps i should give the larger green one to my mommy.

excuse my dry winter hand:laugh:

You could wear one bangle on each wrist :D

Gold is softer than jade so i dont think it will harm the jade.

I think it is Storm Spirit who is waiting for her bangle to arrive :smile1:

Finally after 2 months, my bangle has landed in the UK! My mum went to pick it up yesterday and honestly when I first saw it, I was slightly disappointed because while it's pretty, I thought it looked rather different compared to the seller's photos. It was midnight when I got the bangle, so I didn't get to see it under natural light. But, my opinion completely changed in the morning :p

Under natural light, the bangle looks yummy, a bit like milky jelly, with bits of green. Size wise at 55.7cm (diameter) it's a little on the big side; I don't need to use any soap, and I can push it halfway up my forearm, lol. That said, there's no chance of it flying off of my arm and it's very comfortable to wear - doesn't bang around like I thought it would.

I've taken several photos of it using both my camera + phone but it seems very very difficult to capture accurately, because jade bangles look different from different angles & under different lighting. So far however, my camera has produced the best results.

WoW WOW..it is finally here ! it is very pretty in daylight. Have you been wearing it 24/7 ? what are the width measurements ? it looks pretty thick.. :D enjoy it in good health

BREADNGEM, may i know why JADE? :) i haven't really put much importance in jade but now that you mentioned it, i kinda wanna have one too. LOL!

I didnt use to like it too, thought it is old fashioned. But my mom always said that unlike many other gems, jade becomes prettier and more tranlucent the more you wear it. I find that fascinating.

So i had been considering getting a jade bangle when i saw some pretty ones in Chinatown (NY), which kind of spurred me on to buy one for myself. Even my mom was surprised when she saw my bangle, cos she didnt think i had a liking for jade before. Lol.

Wow this looks really great on you! I think the color fits really well with your skin tone :)
It's soooo hard to find a good one these days.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments! The bangle is really growing on me, I love looking at it :D

A couple of camera photos taken by the window in the bathroom. These give a much better idea of what the colour is like - very pale milky green with darker green bits.

Jade is believed to have its own energy and will protect its wearer. There's a Chinese saying that if you nurture jade for 3 years, in return, it'll look after you for life. Bangles are generally worn on the left arm, because (apparently) energy enters your body from the left, and jade bangles are believed to act as a filter, allowing through only positive energy.

I plan to wear only the jade bangle on my left wrist from now on, would be amazing to watch it become more translucent over time :D

The band looks really nice on you!

Am I right in saying it is thicker than the traditional jade bangles? I recall relatives wearing ones which are perhaps only half of that width. In any case, it looks more modern and not as old fashioned as I've come to associated jade bangles with.

I own a few agate and carnelian bangles but am rather itching for jade now for my collection...

Do you know the quality of jade your bangle is? I think I read somewhere that lavender and those really strong green jade bangles are often man-made colours (from dye injection) but the paler ones are natural.

Congrats on finally getting it :)

Thank you :D Bangles with flat inner rims (as opposed to tube shaped bangles) are generally thicker. At a guess I'd say that most bangles are probably between 9mm-13mm in width, so mine is quite wide, but you can get ones over 20mm. I went for a thicker bangle because I don't plan on stacking it with other jewellery, thought more material = more durable, and as a last resort it makes a good self defence weapon :graucho:

My bangle is grade A, which means it's natural & untreated. Natural lavender & deep green bangles do exist, but depending on the colour/translucency you could be looking at either a few hundred $ or a few hundred thousand $. It's quite easy to tell the treated bangles, however, the injected colours don't look natural at all, and will fade over time.

If you want to have a look at treated jade for reference, www.jadeshop.com is full of them.
