Purse peace

I don’t remember making this post. Get out of my head! I’ve been doing the exact same thing though. I’m happy with my collection and even have bags that I could let go of still but for sentimental reasons I’m not ready to. But I can’t help but to browse for the fun of it. I do need a little black evening bag to round out my collection. I was VERY tempted earlier today! But I was so good and left with the bag I came in with.

I’m not at purse peace :( The worst is that I take months, up to a year to look for the perfect piece. Currently I need a new everyday bag to replace my Marmont which has come to the end of its lifecycle, in a small size and in black, and while that sounds easy, it is not for me lol…

My current collection is small as I’ve just started: a vintage Ferragamo, vintage Gucci and the Marmont, and I won’t rest until I have a Dior. For the black bag I was eyeing a Malice but it just looks much better in the Oblique pattern (see how hard I make this for myself :hrmm:).

I have no immediate needs ATM. I have all the bags I need and want for this life situation plus many bags that are still going to get the boot and leave my home. I'm still entertaining the thought of having just 7 bags in my collection.

do you have 7 specific styles/bag types in mind? Or does that just feel like the right number? I’m curious how you got to 7

I actually have a list. I wrote down 6 of my favorite styles I keep reaching for, thought of the best/favorite bag I could have in that category and left space for a joker that's just a nice bag I like which could be a double for one of the categories.

Are you at purse peace?
A: Nah. Long way to go. I only recently started my luxury collection so Purse Peace isn't even in the horizon as of now.

What is your current collection?
A: Tiny. A Chanel Square Mini, a Gucci Marmont, a Loewe Puzze Bag, a Bottega Pouch and a LV Neverfull.

What bags do you still want in order to achieve purse peace?
A: I would think at least a Dior Saddle, a Lady Dior, a Dior Bobby, a YSL LouLou, a Fendi Baguette, a Chanel Deauville and eventually a Birkin or a Kelly.

I think I'm close to it, but sometimes I think I may not get there.

What is your current collection?

Chanel med flap, Chanel mini rec, Fendi Baguette nappa, LV Pochette Metis empriente, Prada Reedition, LV Speedy B25, Givenchy Pandora

Above I mentioned that I think I'm close to purse peace cos for the last few years, my wishlist doesn't go beyond 2 bags. Even then I try to purchase only 1 per year. Currently I want the Chanel Gabrielle hobo and mayyyybe the Dior Bobby.

I’m not at purse peace, but I’m very much at a 1-in-1-out point and in the long run I’d like to pare my collection down a little.

I still find myself experimenting with new styles and trends most seasons, and move bags on relatively quickly if they are not working out.

What is your current collection?
I have over 30 bags right now, so I’ll list brands as opposed to specifics: Fendi, Chanel, Prada, BV, Celine, Longchamp, Burberry, Valextra, Coach, Mansur Gavriel, Nanushka, Tory Burch, Polene.

What bags do you need to achieve purse piece?
Probably not entirely sure but I’d like another Celine belt bag, another Valextra, and probably a few more Polene. At the same time, will probably let go of some of the Coach and Tory Burch, possibly also the BV. I suspect I’ll own a YSL Sac Du Jour before it’s all over.

Are you at purse peace?

I’ve definitely slowed down and become more selective about what I add, but I just think bags are fun… researching them, buying new ones, using and loving my current bags. I’m not sure I ever see myself at “purse peace” from the perspective of never buying another bag. But, I could see taking longer breaks from buying depending on my lifestyle.

What is your current collection?

I have about 20 bags from different designers, mostly Chanel but some Hermes, Celine, LV and one each from Dior, Goyard, and Bottega. I have some that I think I’ll likely sell or replace eventually but still not quite ready to do so.

What bags do you still want in order to achieve purse peace?
  • In terms of general styles, i’m still in search of the perfect camera bag (will probably sell the Bottega Nodini when this comes along - I just bought the wrong color and haven’t used it as much as I thought I would because it’s more delicate than expected) and a work bag (TBD on whether this is really justified in post-pandemic life)
  • For colors, I’m still looking for a royal blue bag, a pink mini bag, and a champagne gold evening bag (still kicking myself for not getting the 20A gold reissue mini or WOC).
  • For specific bags, I am waiting for the perfect color Fendi First, would like to add a Birkin 30 in a burgundy or similar shade (rouge grenat, Bordeaux), and a custom made dream bag from Peter Nitz. My absolute dream bag would be a shiny croc Birkin 30 in vert emeraude but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to justify the price (or the color, I don’t think I’d be able to style it well).
