Purse Hooks / Hangers

I never use hooks, I'm constantly putting my bag on the floor. If there is a chair I'll use it, otherwise the bag gets put on the ground (it's a bag, not a baby). The only exception is bathrooms--I always hang my bag in stalls.

i don't think it's bad to use a purse hook. i have one and i bring it with me just in case there's no other place to sit my bag. i do get the weird looks also but at least my bag is germ free from having to put it on the floor. think of it this way, you put your bag on a floor at a restaurant, mall, etc and you go home and where do you normally place your purse....couch, table, bed. yep not worth the gross-ness factor!

I don't use a purse hook but I think they're very cute to have, especially if you are sitting at a high table and need your bag closer to you than on the floor.

I prefer to carry a carabiner (one of those clips that climbers use). It comes in handy when I'm in a public restroom and there are no hooks around. I can use the carabiner and secure my straps any available hinges inside the stall. I also use it to double up on the removeable straps on my messenger bags and turn them into shoulder bags.

I ordered a purse hook, tonight, from Amazon. After going to a restaurant, this past weekend, with absolutely no place to set my bag (high top tables, w/only stools and the place was so crowded that all available stools were taken)--I decided I needed one. I don't really care if people think it's weird, I just don't want my bag to get messed up. ;)

I was at a banquet this weekend and we were seated at a crowded table with no space for bags except the floor. I took out my Clipa and hung my bag next to me on the table and it was just fine. Then I noticed that another woman at our table was also using a purse hook for her bag. Smart lady!

Today, coming home from work on the crowded commuter train (I certainly wasn't going to put my bag on that dirty floor!) I used my clipa to suspend it from the back of the seat in front of me. That meant that I was hands-free, comforable and able to relax, read and enjoy the trip!

I think that purse hooks are smart, not weird!

Great idea! I have a large one and that I think would be perfect!! I have always liked the idea of a purse hook and bought a few but never used them as my bags were heavy and I worried about the thin metal against the handles. I think the larger, rounder carabiner would be just what I've been looking for:yes:

I've wanted to use one, but it's one of those things that I never think of getting until I need it, then I forget again till the next time. lol. But now I've discovered Clipa thanks to this thread, I immediately ordered two online...can't wait to get them!

EDIT: Oh, and I don't think it's weird, and don't care if someone else does, so there! :D

Good for you! I have 2 clipas - silver and gold - and I always make sure that I have one whenever I transfer to a new bag, that way I will have it the next time I need it.
