I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Some have said she was invited because it was the polite thing to do. in this case I think that bad insulting behavior took precedence over politeness. They had no problem keeping her from Balmoral. They did her a favor if they excluded her.

All the stupid lip flapping about their demands was just a smokescreen to hide the fact that she wasn’t invited and that she probably didn’t want Harry to go as the excuses would cover him as well. So how is Harry going to explain his presence? Tell a lie that TK apologized to him? We know why he is there. It is solely to maintain his royal adjacency. Without it, he is just another guy with a title and nothing attached to it.

I think she was invited. Both were probably invited. Even in the non-royal world usually spouses are invited together to events such as weddings etc as a matter of etiquette. I think she is bowing out due to some perceived slight. She does not need to stay with the children. There are sitters/nannies for that. He is going of course so he can scowl and have more fodder for future books/podcasts/interviews to whine about Meghan being slighted somehow.

I think he is going because he knows he would look awful if he didn’t, and that would be the last of the burned bridges he has already turned to ash.
I also think that somewhere deep inside he may regret the path he chose. Surely, by now he has realized the grass isn’t greener. Although he has said he doesn’t like England, there is no way he feels more at home in the States.
After the initial euphoria of meeting and marrying someone, things do settle down and you are left with the person, minus the fog of new love.
Imagine waking up to her, at a point where she no longer feels the need to be nice to him, to put it that way.
I do believe he is wanting to leave one last string attached to Britain.
