Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

I

I'd have thought Zed would have continued fawning on Enninful since he would still be transactionally useful to her.
EE does t want to be associated with her. He needs to keep on good terms with the royals so the magazine gets scoops on royal weddings and fashion. Plus his mentor, Anna is a fan of the family.

Perhaps not, if moolah was involved :graucho:

I so enjoy this pic - the idiots, her deflated, runover pancake of a “hat”, grinning like a psycho, flanked by MI6 behind and young James, (pre) Earl of Wessex, outranking the dolts. :drinks:

Haha yes! Scarves and poo for the pathetic pair. :hs:
All critics of the couple have joked endlessly about the threesome sitting behind them at Jubilee. By wanting to know who was going to sit in front and behind them, he is confirming that he was fully aware of the three people and why they were there. I think now, that he included in his book, the story about killing Taliban fighters, there is the possibility that it was also a dig at these people. Two of them held positions concerning national security and the third is concerned with security for the monarch. Harry was fully cognizant that including the Taliban was going to stir up trouble and comment and he thought he could use that for his security argument. All it did was cause present concerns for coronation security. Harry’s need for secunity for himself and family is now moot. He and they will probably not be returning to the UK in the near future and his wife and children are more likely never to go back.

He knows H&M are real beings, but maybe the omission of the grandkids was KC's way of acknowledging/hinting that he knows something we don't??? Maybe difficult for KC to have a genuine interest in potentially faux grandkids??
Did he mention his other grandchildren by name? If he didn’t then it wasn’t an exclusion.

It looks like someone stood on a paper plate and she thought it’d be perfect with her coat of used napkins and baste of bbq sauce.

Indeed, I agree with this but I still think it is punishing these grandkids to not seemingly have ever even met one of them when you:-
a) have unlimited travel resources at your disposal,
b) you have unlimited servants and housing so you don’t have to do any childcare just see them and
c) are inviting the son who is actually slagging you off but not them who are just blameless kids.
I think it seems pretty cold and dysfunctional tbh. Especially if creepy uncle Andrew is still wandering around the party jangling his participation trophies.

We know what these big occasions are like. I think it's good that 2 tiny children are not hauled on a long car journey, 7 hour flight, all to endure at least a whole day of no toys, no routine, waiting around, no instant toilet breaks or maybe not near a changing room etc. It's so far from their everyday experience now, they may as well be going to the moon.

I was dragged to protest marches, music festivals and rock concerts, enormous and long antique fairs, trade, art and furniture exhibitions. I don't even like it when people bring their little children to (adult orientated) festivals, but at least little kids can be taken somewhere and run around and make noise.

It's a state occasion, not a family one

It's not a birth, christening, wedding, birthday or funeral. It's certainly not a party. it's an anointing of a King by his people/higher-power. I see no role for any children, except it's good for George to see. (I hope by the time George is crowned, he will have his own children there).

No one need be at the Coronation, unless they are either a) getting crowned, b) publicity showing full support for those getting crowned.

The facial expression of the woman with the nice blue hat cracks me up.
You just know she's thinking about how ugly and cheap looking TW's hat is :roflmfao:
It's like a prop from a children dress-up box that cost $1, not some bespoke hat by a top milliner.

Also, first thing I notice every time I see pics from this event- TW was plastered in makeup and radioactive orange. Both face and hair greasy  Great combination when wearing an all-white outfit.

Interesting! :girlsigh:

British Vogue editor Edward Enninful has praised King Charles as a monarch who can 'evolve with the times' despite being head of an imperfect institution.

Mr Enninful, who was once close friends with Meghan Markle, praised the King as 'charming', 'funny' and 'kind' as he penned the monarch's entry in Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2023 list.

The fashion editor, 51, who is also an ambassador for King Charles's charity The Prince's Trust, made note of how the organisation helped people he knew into work when he was a child living on a council estate in west London.

Thanks, I knew he had some connection to her via British Vogue, but I didn't realize they were actually friends (past tense I assume). This piece will infuriate the Harkles and further undermine their claims.

They were not close friends - they had a show-biz relationship (nice while their connection lasted) it's an exaggeration, like saying I run tPF :D

Didn't she do some "guest editor" thing pre-Megxit that did not go too well?

She did, she made sure she did.

But that's when she was newly the DoS in Sept '19. He'd been EiC at British Vogue for 2 years. At that time, EE was letting a mixed-race, new 'breath of fresh air' Working Royal edit the magazine. So at that point she was part of the BRF. There were no split loyalties.

Neither H nor M were invited to his wedding last year.

You're being far too logical. :winkiss:
You don’t need to be so dismissive about my opinion either.

I think I’d have killed for your childhood lol.
Sure the coronation itself isn’t the ideal venue but there’s lots of stuff around the ceremony itself and as I’ve said stick them with the nanny till an appropriate family friendly time.
C’s not seen them or had them over at all and H and sometimes wife have come over without them a few times now. These kids not seeing a possibly very ill great grandmother is one thing but a grandad never being publicly seen with his granddaughter is odd - that’s my opinion.
Especially given we’ve heard so much about how the BRF were tripping over themselves to treat H as W’s equal but then treat their kids so differently.

Also like I said, these kids apparently carry these titles of the U.K. now so I think we should have the opportunity to see them just for one official family photo. That smacks to me that if anything H&M are living the half in/out dream because they don’t have to give their kids’ likenesses to official communication just publish it on Instagram to sell hats and bogus charity with.

I do get part of it is what happens when you have a toxic marriage in the family but then again the family is also the firm who have advisors. Advisors who one would think would pick up it doesn’t look good.

EE definitely knows what is in the best interests of the magazine and his likely future knighthood.

Well that and C probably has him over a barrel after he published this photoshop monstrosity

To get back on topic this makes that garden bump photoshoot look well lit and natural

And I *love* Ms. Side-Eye on the left having none of it with those two

She’s Dame Stella Rimington, who was director general of MI5 in 1992 -please correct me if I’m wrong … I got the date of the coronation wrong in a recent post - (correction May 6), these things happen to humans. :P

And I neglected to name our darling Johnny - but who could miss him?!?

Can you imagine the bronzer stains she leaves on things?
