Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

OK, this is silly. SheKnows is a hack writer site, the writer Kristyn Burtt spins lightweight trash, and I'm ignoring the first sentence about Charles & Kate. The writer is claiming that Zed is wise to reject royal life so that she can focus on meaningful work. Errr, didn't she reject royal life three years ago? How long is she going to take to change focus?

The comment about Charles wanting to be a rockstar will soon change if there's any truth to the post below. I hope so, but it won't be easy for Charles. It will be a great contribution to Will and to the country imo. Go for it Charles! :ghi5:

Both the Harkle kids have zero experience, training, or exposure to events of this size and magnitude. Lillibet is simply too young at a little under 2 years of age. Prince Louis at age 5 is closest in age to Archie, age 4, since he’s only a year older. But the exposure Louis has had to public events involving massive crowds is light years away from Archie who has had zero exposure to such events so far. To throw a child, who by all accounts has led a very quiet life to date, into the massive spectacle of the coronation with no preparation is doing a disservice to the child. Louis, at age 4, was not at either of the Queen’s funeral masses. I believe Louis will be part of the coronation parade but I’m not sure if he will be at the actual coronation ceremony either. It’s hard to expect children of that age to sit still for such a long period of time during a very solemn (and probably very boring to them) occasion and you don’t want screaming, crying children interrupting such a historic event either.
I once read that the Wales children could not attend the Queen's family Christmas luncheon until they were a certain age, so how could the Harkles think it would be appropriate for their kids to attend the coronation? Some situations are just not appropriate for young children.

The BRF should get a refund, then.
Better start rounding up the crows because there will be a lot of them eaten someday. Imagine throwing away your dignity and popularity because you are too blind to the truth. If anyone ever wonders about the rise of evil in the world, it starts off small and eventually spreads like lava. He/she said it, it must be the truth. You don't need evidence just a slick person telling you how to think.

Interesting! :girlsigh:

British Vogue editor Edward Enninful has praised King Charles as a monarch who can 'evolve with the times' despite being head of an imperfect institution.

Mr Enninful, who was once close friends with Meghan Markle, praised the King as 'charming', 'funny' and 'kind' as he penned the monarch's entry in Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2023 list.

The fashion editor, 51, who is also an ambassador for King Charles's charity The Prince's Trust, made note of how the organisation helped people he knew into work when he was a child living on a council estate in west London.

I'd have thought Zed would have continued fawning on Enninful since he would still be transactionally useful to her.

She probably did, but Enninful also got a chance to get to know her better.

If one were to take the cynical view, for an editor of British Vogue, KC is a much more useful connection to have rather than a Z list actress in LA who can’t get a single invitation to an A list event anywhere. When TW was still a working royal based in London, she was a very useful connection for him but after Megxit not so much. You cannot get more A list in the UK than the King and the remaining senior royals.

Meghan was invited. If she hadn’t been there would be cries of racism throughout the press about the BRF excluding Harry’s wife.

She declined because she couldn’t think of any way to make herself the star of the event. Therefore it isn’t worth the bother to her.

Perhaps not, if moolah was involved :graucho:

Mm-hmm...

I hope he's once again seated near H... Or actually, have H surrounded by MI6 and Johnny blocking that ugly mug by sitting right in front of him.

I so enjoy this pic - the idiots, her deflated, runover pancake of a “hat”, grinning like a psycho, flanked by MI6 behind and young James, (pre) Earl of Wessex, outranking the dolts. :drinks:

In recognition of her selfless service to the late Queen, we should invite Emma the Pony to the coronation - and put her in front of Sparry, with a few scarves fluttering in his face.

And to keep Emma company, I suggest we suggest regimental mascot Shetland Pony Cruachan IV. Place him right in front of Hawwy but facing away from him, for reasons which will become obvious.

Haha yes! Scarves and poo for the pathetic pair. :hs:

And I *love* Ms. Side-Eye on the left having none of it with those two

They could stick them with some nannies at one of palaces for ceremony- they don’t have to actually look after their own kids after all :graucho:

It’s just Chaz doesn’t seem to have any interest at all in seeing his own grandchildren and I find that bizarre. He didn’t even say their names in the Christmas speech but did mention their parents - weird.
He knows H&M are real beings, but maybe the omission of the grandkids was KC's way of acknowledging/hinting that he knows something we don't??? Maybe difficult for KC to have a genuine interest in potentially faux grandkids??
