Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

When she drags out one of her “truths” to slam the Royals it triggers the vision in my head of a video clip of her that is readily available from her pre H days, the one where she is braying like a hyena, tossing her head back, icky hair flying and laughingly shouts like it’s the funniest joke in the world, “I am suuuuch a FRAUD!”

I think to myself, YES, YOU ARE, and this may be the only time in your life you’ve ever told the truth !
Wow, I found it.
This is a rare glimpse of her real self.
Watch the video, and see the voice has none of the dulcet tones she adopted for the documentaries and interviews.
Also evident is the lack of scruples. She says it was only one line, so it was perfectly OK to lie to get the part. The actor beside her stares in obvious uncomfortable disbelief.
Want to see the real Meghan, the one the palace aides said was abusive and rude? The one that William saw when he confronted Harold?

Here she is:

OK, this is silly. SheKnows is a hack writer site, the writer Kristyn Burtt spins lightweight trash, and I'm ignoring the first sentence about Charles & Kate. The writer is claiming that Zed is wise to reject royal life so that she can focus on meaningful work. Errr, didn't she reject royal life three years ago? How long is she going to take to change focus?

Work!? TW doesn't 'work' in any sense of the word, especially 'meaningful work'. She's too mAgNiFiCeNt for that.

As soon as I saw that word I knew she had written the statement. Kind of like “her truth”.

God, that white hat was SO bad. Whoever made the joke about her finding it at the seasonal section of Walgreens, I am still laughing at that years later.

It was! It looks like she accidentally sat on it. She's terrible with hats, isn't she? I don't think I've seen one hat on her head that looked good and the woman was lucky enough to have Philip Treacy create hats for her. Oh dear, we've now probably missed seeing one of the possible four options for hats on her head: A) A tilted hat that looks like it melted on her head, B) wonky satellite dish hat, C) the pill box/dog bowl/nurse hat , D) big hat with the brim pulled down

Ugh, again with the meaningful work. They ran away from the royal family three years ago. What work have they done in that time other than promoting themselves?

Heck, be proactive! Pretend to faint. Since the Major-Now-Colonel is both a gentleman and a highly trained and experienced soldier, I'm sure he would use his extensive First Aid training to do his very best to revive you.

I'll be right behind you.

There's only one thing that might go wrong with that... Suppose the other less strapping gentlemen in the vicinity would attempt to charge for rescue...? That would be an awkward position, trying to covertly kick the other men in the shins muttering "not you, get away!" while still pretending to be unconscious...

In recognition of her selfless service to the late Queen, we should invite Emma the Pony to the coronation - and put her in front of Sparry, with a few scarves fluttering in his face.

And to keep Emma company, I suggest we suggest regimental mascot Shetland Pony Cruachan IV. Place him right in front of Hawwy but facing away from him, for reasons which will become obvious.

I lived a normal person version of that story! I was at the registry of motor vehicles with my daughter, who was probably two at the time, and I was sitting with her on the bench, and she fell off the bench, and the hottest fire fighter I’ve ever seen literally caught her in mid air with his enormous arm muscles. I should’ve throw myself off the dang bench!

It looks like someone stood on a paper plate and she thought it’d be perfect with her coat of used napkins and baste of bbq sauce.

I will actually be surprised if Louis is at the Abbey tbh. I hope he is.
If everything was OK and H&M were still working Royals, A&L would definitely be too young for the Abbey but it would've been lovely for them to be on the balcony.
Or again, if everything that has happened didnt happen and they were getting the privacy they wanted living their own lives, H&M would've gone to the Coronation, no balcony but all four will have been in the historic photographs forever, as family.
Indeed, I agree with this but I still think it is punishing these grandkids to not seemingly have ever even met one of them when you:-
a) have unlimited travel resources at your disposal,
b) you have unlimited servants and housing so you don’t have to do any childcare just see them and
c) are inviting the son who is actually slagging you off but not them who are just blameless kids.
I think it seems pretty cold and dysfunctional tbh. Especially if creepy uncle Andrew is still wandering around the party jangling his participation trophies.

Both the Harkle kids have zero experience, training, or exposure to events of this size and magnitude. Lillibet is simply too young at a little under 2 years of age. Prince Louis at age 5 is closest in age to Archie, age 4, since he’s only a year older. But the exposure Louis has had to public events involving massive crowds is light years away from Archie who has had zero exposure to such events so far. To throw a child, who by all accounts has led a very quiet life to date, into the massive spectacle of the coronation with no preparation is doing a disservice to the child. Louis, at age 4, was not at either of the Queen’s funeral masses. I believe Louis will be part of the coronation parade but I’m not sure if he will be at the actual coronation ceremony either. It’s hard to expect children of that age to sit still for such a long period of time during a very solemn (and probably very boring to them) occasion and you don’t want screaming, crying children interrupting such a historic event either.
They could stick them with some nannies at one of palaces for ceremony- they don’t have to actually look after their own kids after all :graucho:

It’s just Chaz doesn’t seem to have any interest at all in seeing his own grandchildren and I find that bizarre. He didn’t even say their names in the Christmas speech but did mention their parents - weird.

Clearly you need practice in the art of swooning. You fall into the gentleman’s arms, like in the old movies.

I am completely fed up as most of you are. Every stinking day there is a new outrage swirling around them. My DH sometimes talks of people tickling the dragon. Unfortunately my mind is right now in the life of Richard III. There was loyalty or there was death, family or not. You could not betray your father and brother and expect absolute forgiveness. Loyaly is not predicated on which way the wind blows."Justice" was not always forgiving, it was terrible, swift and final. It was also a warning to others. Even the son of a king was not spared.
