They don't replate the metal, they replace it. To replate the metal would be too costly to do on a bag by bag basis. They also replaced your chain, they didn't replate it. If you have the 22k gold plated older hardware, they will likely replace it with the current hardware, so be aware of this.

If you asked for all metal hardware to be replaced when you took it in, that should have included the chains and the turnlock or CC closure (which is what I'm guessing you are calling the metal plate).

This is why I don't want the hardware to be replaced on my 11 series jumbo. I think I'll jut get it cleaned instead. :smile1:Thank you for pointing this out it is helpful

You are very welcome; I feel the same way about the hardware on my early series mini; it's gorgeous and not a chip on it, and I would never want that hardware replaced! Just make sure to tell them to NOT replace it when you take the bag in for refurbishing. :)

Hi Ladies,

Does anyone had taken their purse in the store to get the lining changed? I bought a Cerf tote but the lining has a lot of pen marks, I was wondering if that is something they can replace? Also can they also clean pen marks on caviar leather. Any info is much appreciated!!! Thanks in advance 😊

They can and will replace the lining, but before replacing, you should see how it goes with cleaning; look through the forum and find the thread that was posted about the gold GST that the lining was cleaned. The before and after will amaze you. I'd have to think about how to clean pen marks from caviar; what color pen and what color leather?

From what I could see on the photos, I'd be willing to guess that Chanel could clean the interior and exterior for you, without replacing the lining, with their spa service. it's definitely worth a go. Just wanted to let you girls know my experience with chanel and my boy bag:

One of the rings on my bag had the silver chipped off, revealing a brass hardware underneath, I took it in and got it replaced for free within 10 minutes (they had a craftsman in at that time) in London.

Note that if your boy bag's edges have wear on them, Chanel will not be able to do anything about it. They can replace it but my SA told me it would cost too much for it to be done. She did not mention the price but I think it might cost maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of the bag's price? Just a hunch.

As usual, hardwares are all replaceable provided that they have the parts :flowers:

That's an excellent idea, and I'd love to see the new prices as well, since my SA told me they would basically double on the 1st of July. I didn't have any bags needing refurbishment, so I didn't take any in, and haven't since the price increase either, but I think it would be helpful information to put here.

I hope someone can help me.. :)

I want to buy a vintage flap and send it for a total refurbishment. The lambskin is flat (not puffy). Will Chanel be able to make it puffy? Hope someone understands what I'm asking.

I had a pair of rain boots where one of the flowers on the side came off, I purchased them from a chanel boutique in FL and the Chanel boutique in Virginia fixed it for me for free. .. Something tells me the handbags are the same way.
