So I just dropped a bag at the boutique for full refurbishment. I didn't see the entire price list, but the price for full refurbishment has gone from $265 to $585. The prices have more than doubled. The wait time will be 12-16 weeks. Instead of getting a printed receipt, you get a full sheet of paper (claim check) with a description of the service to be rendered and the cost. You still pay when you pick it up.

Holy!!! How could they raise the price that much? It's costing the price of a good accessory or even a bag from another brand!!

Thank you for your information. That's really helpful. I need to reconsider before I turn in my bag.

I dropped a bag off at the boutique last week. I got a ~$285 estimate and a receipt. I didn't fill out a sheet, but my main concern was cleaning color transfer.

I was told 8 weeks.

They raised the prices so much because of so many people buying second hand bags on ebay, Malleries, and the like and bringing them in for refurbishment. I just still wish they made some kind of "grandfather clause" that allowed people who paid full price in the boutique to pay the lower price. I can understand why they did this, but not why they didn't make allowances for those of us who paid full price and will need this service. :(

Thanks for posting the price, Chi town Chanel. I had been told the price was going to more than double. Wish we could get a full list of prices.

Thanks a lot for posting this info. I have 2 purses that need to be cleaned, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay $585.

The department stores usually ask if the purse was purchased at their store before accepting it for repair. Chanel could do the same, but it would create a problem for purses bought abroad.

If Chanel's problem is resellers that are making huge profits selling bags after being refurbished, the profits are also high for people that buy purses at heavily discounted sale prices and then sell them for almost full price. It's a difficult situation to solve, and we have to pay the price. :nogood:

I wish they would at least look to see if you were the original purchaser in their Chanel database; then you should pay the old price, as you are not profiting from the secondary market. I was told before this took effect that the reason for it is the secondary market bringing in so many bags to refurbish that take sales away from Chanel direct. The only problem is with no clause to accept bags from those of us who paid full price, we have to pay for the resellers who have caused the problem in the first place, whether they bought vintage or sale bags and marked them up. :(

Thanks for the info Chi town! :flowers: The prices used to be so good for refurbishments at Chanel, I'm so sad that prices has gone up so much. I just picked up a bag for cleaning a couple of months ago (color transfers) and paid $265, which was what my estimate was when I dropped it off. The whole process took a little under two months.

Hey! Maybe you got your bag in before the official price change took effect. Also, you don't need to fill anything out, the sales associate does it on the computer. They make you sign two copies of the claim check (a full sheet of paper instead of a receipt) and they give you one copy to take. When you pick your bag up, you sign and date the original claim check that they are holding (the Chanel copy). If you didn't have to do this, maybe you got the old price!!! That would be great!

Keep in mind that the $585 price is for full refurbishment. I'm having the leather cleaned and refinished, the leather inside the chain strap replaced (due to cracks) and the CC turnlock (hardware) replaced.

If you have a more minor repair, your fee might be much less. Unfortunately I didn't see a price list, so I don't have more info for everyone. It does give you a comparison of the old full refurbishment price vs the new price. If anyone gets more info, please post!

I have no idea if I got the old price or new?! If the price is the new price, I am bummed since I could have brought is sooner. I had no idea that an increase was in the works.

My estimate was only for cleaning and sealing, but I only got a receipt.

Given Bluekit's information, it appears that cleaning maybe only went up like $20.
