Preference for LV made in France/USA/Spain...??

I guess I'm the only one, but it makes me sad to see Americans who hope their bags aren't made in the U.S.

I understand the heritage aspect, but the U.S. has plenty of qualified craftspeople, I'm sure, and I appreciate that LV has 'outsourced' to the U.S., where labor tends to be very expensive.

To answer the original OP, it matters because of the provenance of the brand. As a luxury item, I want to feel it's heritage and having it constructed in the home of the brand, imbues it with that heritage. Well, for me anyway.
Not all my items are MIF, but most are.

I do prefer MIF due to LV being a French company, but it isn't a deal breaker if the item I like was made elsewhere. Almost any bag I look at is MIF, even the Keepall I was looking at in Seattle was MIF which completely caught the SA off guard as almost all are MIU...the same was my Delightful up here in Canada, grabbed one from the top display shelf and it was MIF. It's like I'm a magnet:D

It's cheaper for Louis Vuitton to produce the bags in the US than to import the finished products. It's all about business!

This need to have MIF is part of why the bags now have the leather tags and say Made in Paris on the outside. Honestly outside of TPF I don't think most people care. Yes it's a French company, but the little tag inside or out doesn't immediately negate the heritage if it says MIUSA!

TPF made me MIF crazy at first, now I don't care. I mean honestly, what if all the bags were made here and stamped MIF, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Of course this is against the law, but IMO it really is just a mindset.

The only reason I hate the made in USA is because of that ugly cloth tag...no offence to anyone! To me it just looks so cheap. I had a speedy 35 in azur and even though it's inside it cheapened the brand for me. If it's made in Spain, France, etc. I don't care. I have a older neverfull mm that's made in USA but there's no cloth tag so it doesn't bug me. I've been pretty lucky as most of my bags are MIF. I just bought the Estrela nm in noir and its MIF thank god lol I lucked out on that one.

The cloth tag has been gone for ahwile. The tag is now leather. I honestly feel TPF made that happen! The leather tag looks much better.

For me a "Made in France" makes it more special, considering the brands history. The quality will always be the same independent of where it was produced, so by the end of the day it's all personal preference :smile1:

I don't think all the cloth tags have been replaced with leather. I bought a Speedy B 25 last August that had one. The date code indicated it had been made recently. I was really bummed when I saw it. I ended up returning it and buying the bag in Paris.

Before the cloth tag, I didn't care where my items were made.
