LV is a french brand, so some people (including me) have preference to have bags and slg that are made in France.
I'll buy anyway even if it's made in Spain, Italy or US.I haven't noticed the difference in quality at all.

Does anyone know if a bag or SLG can be made in one country and finished in another country or parts are imported to one country and then finished? I know the MIU bag tag says made in USA of imported materials. Does this happen in other countries? What materials are imported from where?

i've been buying lv since the late 1970s. i onliy get made in the usa if there is no other choice. And yes, i have overall noticed a difference in quality as much as i hate to admit it. I'm all for promoting made in the usa products, but not for lv. Although lately, over past 10-15 years, quality has slipped for both. Since the family lost the company, it's a shareholder driven lvmh company and the quality unfortunately reflects the change.

LV is a French company ; I am from France and euhhhh how to say ? I am proud of LV. We are loosing so many entreprises.. So, yes It is important for me to have my items MIF. Like my Michael Kors' key rings made in USA.

No it's just a preference

I used to be very strict on "Made in France" pieces, and only wanting "Made in Spain" if it was a hard to find item. Just because of the romantic notion of LV from Paris.

That said, its really hard to find "Made in France" in the US, so its just not possible at times to have a MIF item.

I don't know but from my experience the Made in France have a slightly higher quality rate. The items I have had to send in for repair have almost only been Made in Spain and none of my Made in France. Also I have noticed that more of the Speedys with the zipper gap have been Made in USA bags.

The I agree the resale value will be higher with Made in France bags just because it is a french company to begin with :)

I'd like to purchase Made in France whenever possible, but it's not a huge deal to me. I doubt there's a quality difference, as most of the process is automated, I'm sure, and that would be the same for all the factories.

It doesn't matter to me, though to be honest it never even really crossed my mind. Unless I encounter an obvious flaw in one of my pieces, of course. Then again, I'm not one to really scrutinised the tiny details of my items, but I completely understand the preferences of others, since there are proven differences.

I agree with you. I think quality is a crapshoot and a defected item can come from any country. All my made in USA items have held up great and still look brand new. I have only ever had one quality issue with LV and that was from an item made in France but that was just one item, the rest MIF are perfect.

I myself prefer a made in france only because from my experience the quality seems better well more sturdy . i find that the made in usa speedy i have doesnt hold up as good as my older bag i have to baby it so its really your own prefrence.

Doesn't matter to me. I've been buying LV since 2005. Honestly, my MIU bags have held up better overall. I was so excited to get my Totally PM ESP when I saw it was made in France. It has not held up well and I've been surprisingly disappointed. I don't baby my bags but I am rather gentle with them. In fact, for that reason, I sold it last month and bought another Neverfull MIU! Love it!
