Hello Guys, is it certain that all LV in Paris are Made in France?? thanks

Not all. My DH came back from Paris today with a new Cabas Beaubourg Mono Made in Spain...

I am thinking about calling local LV store here to exchange it for one MIF! I feel more comfortable with MIF though I know two facts:
1. quality-wise they may make no difference and;
2. even MIF items may not be perfect or really to my expectation nowadays...

Hi Anna2011, thanks for the info, please advise if its better to buy my first mono speedy here in US than in France, im still contemplating that i might get upset if i let my friend buy me in France then it would be Made in Spain or somewhere, i just want my first speedy to be MIF..

Two points to be considered in your case:

1. How much cheaper to buy in France than your local store?

I figured out it saves 18% to buy an item in France than in Singapore taking into account the tax refund of 12%.

You may work out your potential savings by:
a) referring to LV website France pricing, which is VAT inclusive, divide it by 1.12 to get net price in €;
b) get current exchange rate of $/€, and work out $ price equivalent.
C) check $ price and work out savings.

2. How well will your friend help?
My husband did remember my MIF requirement and the SA proved him the display bag MIF, but at the end, another SA took out one from warehouse MIS one and packed for him w/o checking.

MIS + imperfect side alignment drive my final decision for local exchange...

So, if it really saves to buy from France and your friend really understands how detailed you are expecting, you may bother him/her to buy for you.

Furthermore, the tax refund is quite troublesome according to my DH. He took 1 hour plus to queue for tax claim at the airport, and as he paid in cash, refund can only in check by post to your residential address later on instead of direct cash!

IMO, I would rather buy expensive item from France when myself go visit there. Otherwise I prefer local purchase, fully examined and satisfied!

Hope it helps.

Hello, thanks for your advise, i made my decision, i will purchase my speedy here in US so i can see the product myself.. i really appreciate your help.. God BLess..

If I was given a choice I'd choose made in France, but it wouldn't stop me from buying a lovely item if it were made in Spain, US or Italy as long as it was authentic LV. The workmanship is just stunning!

I have all different from US, Spain, and France. Maybe I don't know what to look for, but I can't seem to tell a difference?! I like the idea of it being from France. Before I came to these boards, I never really even looked or cared! Reading here makes me second guess?

UPDATE: After comparing my made in France Mon Monogram neverfull with my other neverfulls made in the USA, I believe I stand corrected... I think the handles on my France bag are actually thicker. The varnishing is also a lot brighter and richer. Maybe I was wrong about quality difference?!!!:shrugs:

I don't care either way. I have never noticed a quality difference between France and the U.S.A., and I'm happy to support American craftsmanship! I actually might have a slight preference toward made in the U.S.A, just because so much of America's industry has been shipped overseas, it's nice to see things made in American factories. I've never seen a made in Spain LV before, so I can't comment on those! But I have other handbags made in Spain which I love! So I'm sure those would be fine as well. And the reality is, the majority of the bag is probably made in China or somewhere, and the finishing touches are only put on in the country the tag says. I don't know particularly about LV, but that is how a lot of brands and companies do it.

I just bought a bag today, and I have to say I'm a little disappointed it was made in the USA. I had them look around the store, and they only had 2, both made in the USA. My speedy 35 is made in France, and Sarah wallet is made in Spain...so now I have a piece from each. But I still wish I found the bag made in France too! I know I'm not the only one :p
