Preference for LV made in France/USA/Spain...??

I think it's a matter of preference and availability at the LV store you shop at. I personally have 3 bags "Made in France", but my Speedy is Made in the USA. Doesn't bother me where it's made, the quality seems the same :D

There is lots of threads on this so i am sure this one will get closed. Anyway, I have a totally and it is also made in the USA. I honestly do not care where it is made. And having said that I kinda think its cool that it is made in the usa because all the fakes I see are made in France:p.

This might come as very surprising to some, but most Louis Vuitton bags and accessories are not "made" in France. Instead, they are "assembled" in France. That said, what happens is that there are factories in China where they create, print, and cut the Monogram canvas, and then they ship the materials to France where they make the final assembly of the bag/accessory.

I'm not entirely sure if all patterns and materials are made in China, but I know for a fact that the Monogram Canvas is. Most likely, the Damier canvases are made in China as well, because of the popularity of these 3 prints.

I am so glad that someone posted this because I was wondering the same thing. My new Speedy says Made in USA but the more I think about it the more I realize that no matter where it was made it's still an LV and that's what matters.

I asked about this same question on another thread. I ordered an Epi leather Speedy from the LV website. I was not really sure where it would be from, but it turned out that it was made in France.

I was happy about this because it is a French brand and therefore I like the fact it comes from France. I didn't really think the quality would be different than one made in the USA. I can't imagine that it would really make a difference, however I am also curious if anyone can see a difference in the quality or materials in bags that are made in the USA vs. France.

I don't think there's a difference in quality. However, I am a picky person. So I always ask my SA to see if they have the bag that I want that's made in France. If that particular model doesn't come in France and if I really must have it, then I'll settle for wherever it was made in. But for the SLGs, they are mostly made in USA or Spain.

Man, are you an idiot? Louis Vuitton and Chanel are the only design houses where EVERYTHING is made in either France or Italy - this is well documented. Read the very thoroughly well researched book How Luxury Lost its Luster. You are truly a nincompoop.

no huge difference. i always like for the 1st to be from france. my collection boasts from usa, france and spain. usually the limited or runway pieces are always made in france. at any rate- all the fabric comes from france.

i just happened to be in LV tonight and the new waterproof keepall was from germany. so theyre branching out.

I honestly think they should just do away with saying where the bags were made. It really doesn't matter anyway. If it didnt say made in the USA noone would even be able to tell.

Legally all products have to indicate the country of origin, and I am glad that they do so. But I agree with you that it really should not matter where the bag is made (France vs. US) as long as the quality is the same. Just as long as they don't start making them in China!

I did read in a book entitled, Deluxe: How Luxury Lost its Luster (excellent book!) that some designer brands make bags that are made in China but finished in France/Italy and therefore receive the "made in France/Italy" label. They do not disclose the designers that do this, but it is scary to think that this is happening!

Actually, some LV wallets such as Koala wallet in the Damier Azur is not made in France, nor Italy but in Spain. It even says in the wallet that it is made in Spain.

And, yes, "How Luxury Lost It's Luster" may be a very thoroughly researched book, but that doesn't exclude the fact the authors of the book may not know every single detail about the company and it's manufacturing branches.

I know of this because my co-worker has a friend who works at that factory in China, and he has lost respect for Louis Vuitton as a result. Additionally, my brother works for AP Moller-Maersk, and he has a friend (who also works for a logistics company but not AP Moller-Maersk) who knows for a fact that Louis Vuitton and other high-end brands have factories in China because they ship for them.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, I just wanted to say what I heard and know. And even if someone did say something wrong, it's not nice to rant about others in a rude manner, you can always clear something up in a nicer tone.
