Preference for LV made in France/USA/Spain...??

it's weird but I perfer made in France, but it's not like I'll turn away a bag that's made in USA. I think more than half of my LV are made in France and Spain, while the rest is the US (especially the speedies). I've heard of some quality issue regarding Made in US ones, especially the linning bleeding? or something like that, forgot which threads I've read that on.

Does anyone know if the Trevi is only made in the US? All of the ones that I've seen (both sizes) are made in US.

I honestly prefer made in France. I don't know why - I guess because it was originally a French company, it's a French name, and I just like the thought that it was made there. All of my bags are made in France. I usually wait until my SA finds me one. Silly, I know.

I used to want all my bags to be made in France. For some reason, i believed they were better made. Then i got a Damier Speedy made in France with a defect. I returned it to the boutique and they switched it out for one that was made in USA and it was perfect. Now i no longer make a big deal about where it is made.

:yes::idea: thank you for sharing this info because now i won't do what i was planning on doing my next purchase: make SA find a speedy made in france. no joke, i was thinking of it but i'm glad i read this thread in time ;)

I don't mean to sound like a bag snob but I do feel a bit more bias towards made in France Louis Vuitton bags since it is a French company. I know the quality should be the same as the ones made in USA or another country. But I am curious what if Louis Vuitton started to make bags in China like Burberry would that bother you more so than made in USA or Spain? I am not trying to offend anyone so I am apologize in advance I am just curious.

huh? burberry is made in china? :confused1:

I like only Made In France LV's too. I know there is no difference in quality, but to me it is like buying a Swiss watch made in Japan or a German car made in USA. And actually, the parts of the product may not be from France, Switzerland or Germany either, but at least it is assembled there. There is some marketing psychology going or otherwise they would be talking about it.

Yes, I just purchased a Burberry Gold shimmer check tote from Nordstrom's and the label states "Made in China" I still kept it and I am fine with it now and accepted it and moved on although I must admit my first reaction was WTF!

that's exactly how i felt when kate spade stopped "made in u.s.a." production only...now it's "made in china".
i have nothing against origin...just my personal preference to have kate spade, who is from u.s. (new york) and LV from france to be made in france, or spain...quality seems better to me (of SLG from personal experience anyway)...

i don't mean to offend either but to be honest, i'd stop buying LV's completely and just stick with what LV's i do own (made in u.s.a., france and spain) and go with GUCCI until GUCCI decides to start making in china too...then move on to BALENCIAGA if you catch my drift ;)

we're paying LV prices for quality...and from all reports i've read made in china isn't exactly made for quality but quantity & profitability.

just my 2 cent$ :smile1:

I personally perfer all of my bags to say made in France. That's just me. I have owned ones that were made in the U.S.A. (neverfull's) - They were perfect.
The SA on 57th NYC stated we stand by all of products made here or oveseas.
I still made her find me one that was made in FRANCE.

I compared 2 denim speedys, 1 made in france and 1 made in usa- (mine and my friend's) and the color is different. Made in france is bordering on darker shade of blue jean while Made in usa is lighter happier shade of blue jean. They were both new when I compared them

So glad I found this thread.

I just got the Galliera PM and was so bummed to discover at home that it's made in the USA and not in France.

I feel so silly about comtemplating returning mine to search for one that's made in France but after seeing this thread, I feel more normal. I feel like my bag would be much more special if I did see that it was made in France! I don't know what to do. I really don't want to search for another Galliera but I would definitely feel a bit happier if my bag was made in France =|

Don't feel silly...

When purchasing my second LV, my SA said "Wow, you were lucky enough to get one made in France." I was confused. I thought they were all made in France. Then, she whispered to me that a lot of customers only accept bags made in France, because that's where LV originated. Then, she told me not to tell my friend, as she was also purchasing a bag and hers was made in USA and she didn't want to start any confusion. So, since my SA made such a big deal about it, I thought surely it's the thing to do. So, from then on, I only accepted/purchased LV pieces that were made in France. When, I purchased my Damier Azur speedy, I originally got one that was made in USA, because it was a gift. But, I called every LV in Las Vegas (that's where I was at the time) looking for a bag made in France. They did not have any. I got back to GA and refused to carry the bag. I called every store here and they did not have any made in France. One SA out right told me I wouldn't find it, because the bag was too popular! There was just something in my mind that wanted the bag to be made in France. Especially since the stamp is on the outside of the speedy. Well, one day, I was in Neiman's, just looking, and happened to ask the SA if they had a Damier Azur speedy made in France. She looked through all of the bags and found 1!!!! I drove 45 miles home, to get my bag and 45 miles back to Neiman's to do an exchange. That has been my most carried bag ever since!!!!! To date, all of my pieces are made in France. I hope I am able to continue this way!!!! It just gives me a special feeling...
