Of course they don't make all of the shoes, so, obviously they will still be certain styles that will still come from Italy. And when the label says "made in Italy", it doesn't necessary means that the entire thing is made in Italy, either. It could be that the whole thing is assembled in Italy, or the last few steps are complete in Italy (for example, the zipper, the name plate...)

too bad I sold the one leather Prada purse that I owned from years back. But then again I sold my nicer quality Made in France Chanels too and there is no way I am paying what they cost now to get them again. The price hikes and poorer quality make me sick.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...vintage vintage!
I've purchased several vintage items and the quality of current accessories can't even hold a match to what was made even 5 years ago.

Such a shame b/c there are so many lovely Prada bags but just don't want to drop $$ on a facade. I have an 08 Prada and it's just lovely with REAL leather lining. Can't beat that.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have to tell all of you a terrible truth that might shock you to your cords. One of my closet friend whose cusin married into a famous, rich and well known shoes manufacturere from Taiwan who based their manufacture plants in China. They make their fortune from private labels, what this means is that they make shoes for someone else. Guess who are they making them for? Almost all of the premium designers, let's name a few: Prada, Gucci, Ferragamo, Dior......The only exception brands are Louis Vuitton and CL. That is why their family members only wear Louis Vuitton, exclusively. Because they know other brands are just cheating their customers with big price tags. I learned this horrible truth last year, and I haven't bought a pair of the mentioned brands after that. No wonder I found most of the desingers shoes are not as comfortable as they once were.

Forgive me, I don't understand why they wouldn't make shoes that their own company makes? I'm confused...

Well... So much for boycotting prada. I have yet once again fallen in freaking love with another saffiano lux bauletto. I gave asked my Hawaii SA to special request one for me since there is a more than $200 price difference between mainland and HI prices. Saw the bag at a local boutique and after checking the 'made in' tag and seeing it was made in Italy, decided the bag is a 'go'. Man, I thought I was done with prada. I always come back.

Btw, the local SA - who gave me a look while telling me pradas are indeed made in Italy as I was checking inside the bag - told me only outlet/sale bags are made in china. Ummm yeah sure... Whatever... I'm still checking!

^^^I too have thought, that made in italy meant craftspeople were paid for their work. BUT, I have friend who is a big social justice activist told me there are often sweatshops in Italy, where the workers are paid almost as poor a wage as in China. So the price is still outrageous and does not really reflect the cost of production. the idea of the skilled craftsperson (and cost reflecting this) making the bag is a myth.

Can anyone on here say they have EVER seen a Prada bag that says Made In China in one of their boutiques or Saks or Neimans?

All of my Prada say Made In Italy and they were all purchased at the boutique or their website. While I agree that it cheapens the brand somewhat to have a Made In China inside any Prada bag, well...if you are buying a "great deal" on some non-Prada website...the saying goes..."you get what you paid for".

Wow Now I will have to check the tag b4 I buy a prada bag!

karma is a *****.. now that they are making bags in China, just watch how many of the bags end up in the gray market !!

I just bought 2 from Space Florence, both had tags that says Made In China :(

Ah so the SA may be correct then? Only space carries these made in china bags? I'm so naive. I always thought prada moves the stock from regular boutiques to space after a while. I didn't realize prada makes the bags (now in china) specifically for space outlet retail.
