I bought a new Prada last Sunday. Yesterday I noticed patches of inking on the long strap. I looked more closely all over the bag & noticed that two out of four decorative stitches above the handles have come out & a third is loose.
I rang the store & I'm bringing it in to them next week. I'm very disappointed though & suspect that a replacement could have the same issue with the stitching.
This is a Made In Italy bag so there isn't even the excuse that it was made elsewhere.
I had been looking at a Miu Miu tote & a Saint Laurent Sac du Jour & went for the Prada instead. Wrong move.

Oh my.....was the bag a display bag? Was the bag shipped to you? Did you buy it in store? If so, did you check the bag in the store? I'm guessing a bag that was returned was the one sold to you?
Never noticed patches of ink on straps before. I've seen loose stitches through the years but never patches of inking. Hope they give you a good replacement or a full refund!

I bought it in store & it was definitely a new bag. The long strap was still wrapped up inside the bag & in it's little bag. I did look the bag over it but obviously not well enough. I didn't examine the long strap. The stitching was fine when I for it but those three decorative stitches have come loose over the last week.
I'm not sure if I want to try again with a replacement or if I should just cut my loses and ask for a refund.

That's right, ladies and gents! Prada has pulled another fast one on us. First the Pleather Fiasco, now they are selling the couture line Prada (with couture line Prada price tags) and they are being manufactured in CHINA.
This is going to make reselling Prada bags a nightmare! Can you imagine someone getting a real Prada with a "Made in China" tag so carefully hidden away. Can you say "Paypal Dispute"??
We all know the Linea Rossa line is Made in China, but it's priced accordingly. I have nothing against items made in China and own my share, but when Prada is selling "Made in Italy" bags at "Made in Italy" prices and they are being manufactured for next to nothing because of the low labor costs in China?
Sorry, folks. I'm done with Prada. This is completely unacceptable. I'm sick of this. It's deceptive as hell and I won't be supporting it any longer.
I agree...besides, if they are all made in China (and maybe even in the same factory?) what is "real" and what is not?
Um there's not just 1 factory, whether it's Italy or China or France.
What is real is something made in the right factory contracted by Prada sent to a Prada boutique or department store.
We may have differing opinions regarding quality or design in Prada products, but Prada's manufacturing in China is not in question:

I also find it a little presumptuous for you to accuse a bunch of us of buying fakes and being "simpletons," just because some people buy from ebay or other sources. Besides, Prada is a big corporation, it doesn't need, or deserve, your defense.

I can tell you that there has never been a bag in a Prada boutique with a made in china tag.

Clearly, I cant speak the same for bags purchased on eBay or Prada outlets because that's where most of you seem to be shopping for your "luxury" needs.
MOST of the reveals on the Prada Forum are bags bought at Prada Boutiques and from Prada.com.

Fact is, if I buy a Rolls Royce on the Secondary Market, it is NO LESS a Rolls Royce, than if I bought it at the Rolls Royce Dealership.
Same goes if I buy an AUTHENTIC Prada on the secondary market, it is NO LESS a Prada, than if I bought it at the boutique.
It does NOT become LESS of a Prada just because somebody else owned the bag FIRST.
FYI if you pay half the price for a bag at the outlet you have to be a simpleton if you expect it to be of the same quality as in authorized boutiques.
Prada Outlets are AUTHORIZED Prada Boutiques.
If a bag carries the name Prada, it should be the same quality no matter WHERE
the bag is purchased. Also, MANY of the bags at Prada Outlet are from past Seasons.
They are NOT supposed to be factory seconds.
Also, most of these handbags are hand-made and hand-stitched therefore they are NOT going to be perfect and it is foolish for you to expect perfection
NO, these bags are mass produced on sewing machines, NOT hand stitched.
and NOBODY is expecting perfection, we do expect that if we are spending upwards of $1,000 for a bag, that the company have adequate quality controls in place, so bags are not falling apart after carrying it for ONE month.

I started this thread. I've been buying and authenticating Prada bags for over 15 years and continue to do so. I follow the brand, their business reports and their place in the market. Any one can sell a Prada bag. Doesn't make one an expert...

those articles are from 2011, it is 2015, that is 4 years ago.

Perhaps English is not your first language, in which case, you might not understand that when they say Prada Collections, they don't mean Miu Miu Collections, or they would have SAID, MIU MIU Collections.
They do NOT mean Linnea Rossa Collections, or they would have said, Linnea Rossa Collections . etc etc.
For starters, Prada has admitted to making PRADA bags in China,
NOT Linnea Rossa, NOT Carshoe, NOT Miu Miu .

it said. Made in Italy. Now, they no longer offer this information.

Additionally, Why is that "Made In" tag buried deep in a pocket of all the bags these days?
If they are made in Italy, I would think they would want people to be able to see this, however, that tag is hidden away IN a pocket, instead of ON the pocket
where it used to be.
Anyway, not that I will expect that you will offer anything other than stomping your feet, jumping up and down with your fingers in your ears, screaming; "I worked for Prada, I know EVERYTHING, lalalalalalaalla"
However, everybody deserves the benefit of the doubt. I guess you could surprise us.
Color me shocked that our new Prada expert is unaware that Miu Miu is
made in Turkey and India..
There's a word for our visitor, but we aren't allowed to use that word here.
That said, it's probably best to just ignore our little visitor.
