I bought my first Prada bag about one year ago (you can find thread reveal in this Prada forum). I bought in Prada outlet in Austria. After about half year of gentle wearing (and I'm very careful about my designer bags) some defects occured. There were peeling of hem on one handle and cracked rim around the upper perimeter of the bag.

I complained the bag and it was sent to Italy. I requested a new one but the bag has been fixed only. I did not agree with it, but could not do anything. After two months, the defects appeared again. This time I wrote a complaint to customer service by email, I want store credit immediately but I was answered that my bag will be again repaired. It made me really confused and I wrote back to them that I have a legal right to compensation and really do not want Prada bag repaired several times during the half year. Only when I threatened a lawyer, I was answered that they give me store credit. After reading more and more complaints here, unfortunately, I do not believe that I just had bad luck and it was a defective piece (this can happen even Hermes). Quality is really going down and I'm really curious (and afraid) how it will be going with the new one which I will get.

Hi everyone

I just bought a Vitello Shine BN2324 from Space Outlet, Florence last week. I made it a point to check that it is 'Made in Italy'. I guess one can still buy from outlet but do remember to check!

Then all is well! You get a good discount and a 'Made in Italy' bag from Prada!

That is a gorgeous style.................I am so envious

Got mine few days ago 2274 and says made in italy. But i got it exchange twice because of the glue marks and stitching issue.. So annoying because for the money i paid i deserve a better quality!!

Got my Prada BN2603 tote (soft saffiano) yesterday, can't find a "made in" tag anywhere. Found the 2 little white tags sewn into the inside of the pocket lining, but no made in anywhere!

Guess I'll just assume it's made in Italy :p
Got a great deal from the reebonz Christmas sale and the bag looks and feels fantastic, so happy regardless!

If you're buying the saffiano bags from the boutique, they are made in italy. I feel this thread is slightly misleading, as it is the OUTLET bags that are made in China...

Thank you for clearing that up.

I bought a Saffiano yesterday from a boutique store and was wondering if it was made in China or Italy (I can't check because it's already wrapped up) so thank you for clarifying that.

I bought two bags from the Prada outlet (one in Livermore and another in Orlando). One was a brown leather tote that came with a strap. It had a "Made in India" tag inside. I paid $1,100 for it and didn't really mind that it wasn't made in Italy because I really liked the bag. It probably would have cost even more had it been a Prada bag made in Italy.

The second was a nylon tote also with a strap. I thought it was a steal at $450. When I got home, I was surprised to see that it had a "Made in Italy" tag inside. I googled it online and found some places selling it for at least $900.

I thought it was weird that the "Made in India" bag cost more than the "Made in Italy" bag (even taking into consideration the difference in material).

Some of us have seen Made in China bags at boutiques as well as outlets. It is your statement which is somewhat misleading I'm afraid.

And that was the whole point when PP started this thread MORE THAN 2 YEARS AGO.

It just ain't news anymore. It's been going on for almost 3 years now.

I like to own bags of different brands. And each time I go to a Prada boutique in order to buy a bag, I chicken out and I end up with a pair of sunglasses. Mainly from the Baroque collection 😄

I rarely buy prada but got a wallet from my bf for Xmas gift, and have to say at the corner of wallet there is a couples glue marks... I don't know this is normal Prada Quality or... Very disappointed with prada quality tho!

xo.babydoll you are so WRONG!!! PRADA MADE IN CHINA is also sold in the high-end stores like Saks and Neiman Marcus and Holt Renfrew in Canada.

They sell Made in China and Made in Vietnam Prada's but they label it 'Imported' when you shop for PRADA on their websites. If their Prada's are Made in Italy, they have no problem saying so but for the Asian made Prada's these High End stores seem to hide this fact from the customer under the cloak of 'Imported'.

This really angers me because you don't know that you have a Made in China Handbag or pair of Shoes until you open up your package and there is no way I am paying those High End prices for something Made In China, Vietnam or India! It goes right back to the store.

Lanvin and Celine are also doing the same that Prada has been doing for some time.

It is getting to the point where houses such Hermes will be the only reputable companies!

It appears that the conglomerate LVMH has ruined this industry.

Thanks for this info, I will make sure to verify country of origin before I buy anymore luxury bags. Over a year ago, I purchased a beautiful top handle Prada bag in visone from Neiman Marcus for over $2000 USD, but thankfully it was made in Italy. I would have definitely lost my **** otherwise. Phew!
