hi everyone, a friend of mine said that saffiano bags are only made in italy or turkey. how true is this?

i love the prada designs because of functionality and aesthetic reasons but ill just buy one more prada bag and im done. i dont want to pay a fortune for a made in china bag. dont get me wrong im not discriminating the china made bags (im half chinese). i bought a saffiano bag at NM and it had a made in china tag, i was so disappointed.

Supposedly Bags that are sold in premium retailers like NM are made in Italy. However, it is best to check the tag before purchasing if doing in person. Or return it if you still can because made in China bothers you. There are numerous comments in tPF about prada made in china as well as overall declining quality of most designer brands. I recently went to saks for the saffiano tote. If not for the minor seam sealing defect the bag overall was beautiful and the leather was quality. So im not giving up...i still want it; just need one where the quality is to my satisfaction. Like buying anything else, QC is almost never 100% perfect. Good luck with next prada purchase.

Gee, I was just checking out the large 1786 today along with the 2 tone med 1786 bags. I thought $1960 was reasonable for once because I'm so tired of all these other bags being $2500+ but perhaps the price point is kept down because of "outsourcing" overseas. It's a little embarrassing to have to make the SA hunt for the "Made in" label...so many contemporary designers have textured saffiano leather bags now and many are really lovely although, I pretty much did sbs comparisons today and Prada is still Prada: divine :tender:

The SA at the Prada where I purchased my Saffiano Tote said that there are NO Prada bags made in China and if the tags says so then it's a fake. I even told her that people are saying that Prada bags are being made in China and she said it's not true. She did admit though that sometimes they get a batch of shoes (shoes only) that are made in China but never handbags.

Which is EXACTLY why Prada SAs are SPECIFICALLY NOT PERMITTED to authenticate. This one OBVIOUSLY knows stuff all about their product. And generically, most of them wouldn't know the difference between poop and pipe clay.

Many, many lines of Prada bags are made in china whether she likes it or not and whether she knows it or not.

Not to mention that the fake Pradas made in China have a Made in Italy tag. The real Pradas that ARE made in China have a made in China tag.

This is really bad news. I cant wait to get off work and inspect my small collection.

I have just sold all my ysl bags as I decided I will only buy the saffiano totes. ( love the simple structured look) I have even just ordered the clear bag insert to stiffen the inside!!

I am on a made in china boycott.
Even growing mine own herbs and tomatoes so I dont have to eat something made by them.

I d hate to think I refused to pay 3$ for ther tomatoes to think that ive given them 1000s for bags instead!!!

P.s I Live in singapore and avoiding "made in china" is like being on a beach and trying not to get sand on your toes.
