Ugh I fell into the trap! I got my first and likely only Prada at Woodbury this month. I bought it instead of a LV Roxbury Drive because I thought it was more discreet and would match with more outfits. I can't believe I spent that much money on something that I can't even return! I don't usually buy nice bags at Woodbury but I decided to make an exception because Prada isn't a brand I wear a lot. Now, I am steering clear of Prada. Just had to vent. Lol....lesson learned. Don't buy bags on impulse.

i have not seen "made in china" prada bags in person, however, i saw a few dress from the prada line, not the sport line, at the cabazon outlet store with tags of "made in china"!!!! not liking what i see! if they want to manufacture clothing and bags in china, n problem with that at all! they could have created a new sub line like red valentino of valentino, and price the items accordingly. its so not cool at all to mix up prada items with made in china and made in italy and try to trick us!!! i have been a loyal prada fan too and i am very disappointed with the brand.

Which bag did you buy? I spent over $1k on a bag with tag cut off...and I saw the same one on eBay with tags attached that says "made in china"... Terrible!

Exactly, I totally agree.

This one. Ugh. I still like the color/shape etc but this is so silly. I paid over 1K for this bag. I expect at least that if it says Prada Milano it doesn't mean Milano, China. As you can see, I was so distressed that I went out and bought myself the Roxbury Drive anyway. Lol. At least I can sure that if I get it on 5th avenue they have a bit more integrity.

Yeah, also I still don't know what this bag is called. I haven't been able to find it online to see if it has a name. Oh well. maybe I'll see if I can dig up the box and find out.

Mine is a tote but looks like the same leather as yours...is the lining suede like...not typical Prada lining? I like the color and feel I got too...it's grey...but I noticed the hardware and leather when rubbed squeaks!! Milano, China...LOL!

lol I wouldn't know if it is typical Prada lining as this was my first Prada bag! It is a very soft suede lining though. I still like the bag and I'm going to keep using it. It just makes me very suspicious of Prada products from now on. I know Burberry and Coach also has the same problem but I don't think their bags are seen as being as high class as Prada bags. It just makes me sad that they expect us to dig around and play where's waldo for a made in tag. Thanks for letting me vent. Sigh....I guess from now on I'll research my bags more carefully.

Well, they do have a sub line, Prada Sport = Prada Linea Rossa, which is cheaper and often made in China as I've read on this forum :smile1: (but I must say I own a cute pair of wedges from Linea Rossa line and they are made in Italy; quality is great as well). Red Valentino is made in Italy just like the main Valentino line, I think in that case the prices are different because Red V is meant for younger girls and materials are less fancy :girlsigh:

Anyway, I always check the 'made in' tag on Prada items, I don't want them to say China or Romania either :p

They've been selling that as "suede-leather" since it came out a few years ago, but it's actually moleskin (fabric made to resemble suede). Yet another bit of deception on Prada's part. Kind of like the "pleather lining" they were marketing as "real leather lining" business.

I don't even trust NM, BG or Saks b/c people have been known to buy real Pradas and return fakes to those stores. Since the SAs have NO clue how to authenticate, fakes can get out on those shelves.

I haven't purchased my first Prada (still researching :D) but I was under the erroneous assumption that all of the premier designer bags had some sort of security tag that identified the bag as being purchased from a particular store. Or at the very least, had some unique number on the inside that correlated with some sort of record, at the store.

Anyway, this has been a very informative thread. Thanks.

I am so happy that my first and the only Prada bag I have is made in Italy.
Here she is Prada BR4281
