I have the regular size Neuf.. it was not a mistake for me.. color choice is quite personal & would not letI'm preparing to purchase the Neuf. I thought about taking a day trip to NYC to go to Polene and Coach and was waiting for the new colors of Neuf to come out, since Polene said on its instagram new colors were coming out. Yesterday they released a single new color for Neuf that did nothing for me. It dampened my desire to bother going on a trip and making a day of it. If I can't decide between two colors, it's cheaper and less hassle to order them both and just return one. I'm okay paying a fee for return shipping, I think that's fair. As long as Polene doesn't give any grief for returning something even if nothing's wrong with it, like you just changed your mind (they don't, right?). Do we have to take it to a DHL center to return?
Up until now I was so certain I wanted the bigger size, because I tend to get annoyed with little bags. And Neuf mini's opening looks annoying, to be honest. But regular size also looks quite big. It takes away some of the cuteness of the bag and the proportions of the folded sides to the center part are just better looking on the mini bag to me. Maybe I'll order one mini and one regular to try them both on, and return one.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the regular size Neuf and those colors.I have the regular size Neuf.. it was not a mistake for me.. color choice is quite personal & would not let
that deter me from visiting the shop, JMO
I purchased Chalk & Taupe.. the best options for me personally.. the Chalk is quite unusual in color
& looks great with black as well as neutral colors & the Taupe is versatile. both for me will work all year
long
The bag is stylish & looks better up close & personal.. you likely can't go wrong with your choices, JMO
It looks like the current sandalwood colour may be fairly close to burgundy? But maybe less red tones and more dark brown...Thank you for sharing your experience with the regular size Neuf and those colors.
I asked Polene if/when they planned to restock Neuf in burgundy and they said there is no plan for that as the model will be discontinued. So, indeed I will stop waiting to see if it comes back in stock! I'll just choose a different color.
Thanks for this detailed review (I already own a Neuf but it's probably very helpful for some). It's beautiful in the cognac color. Concerning the strap, if it's just slightly too long for you I'd just add a few extra holes, I probably will as well. I agree, it's way too bulky for crossbody, but I prefer to hold it in my hand or wear it on one shoulder anyways. The top handle is very unique, so wide and flat, but I kind of like how it sits in my hand. But I'm also thinking about purchasing a separate strap which is a bit wider as well, though it's always difficult to get the color right when ordering online.Okay, so except for a single day, I've worn my Neuf in Cognac all week. Here's my review. I really like it and in even this short period of time, the color has grown on me. Mostly because, since it's so neutral, it makes a great backdrop to decoration. I really it with a charm or a scarf, but it's also great on its own.
I love the top handle. It is such a beautiful construction. The leather feels thick and squishy, but not in a too soft way. This must be what people refer to when they say "chewy", and the feel is best appreciated in the handle. As much as I love the look of the top handle, I really need the use of my hands. If I put it on the crook of my arm, I can't extend that arm fully and feel like a Tyrannosaurus with a small semi-functional arm. So I have also been carrying it with the strap. I don't like it crossbody. It's too bulky for that, and I tend to prefer shoulder carry anyway. But the strap, even on the shortest setting, is a little longer than I prefer for shoulder carry. I'll probably try purchasing a shorter chain strap. I do not find the opening to be problematic. It's not the widest, but it's wide enough. I find it an enjoyable carry.
The folds in the bag were even and I didn't see any real flaws. There was a small white thing, maybe glue, stuck on the lining and I couldn't get it and was afraid if I pulled too hard I might pull a thread, so I left it. By the way, the lining is a nice, thick cotton. It can be pulled out of the bag. But at the end of the week, I can't find it, so I guess it just came off in the course of use anyway. There is a frayed stitch on the strap. It's very minor, but I've included a picture. There is also a small flaw in the glaze, also on the strap. Not sure if that was there when I received it, but it's only been a week so in my mind, it's still a flaw on a new bag regardless. I've included a pic of that too. These things are minor enough to not bother me.
And now the pictures!
First, a full bag shot and pics of the 2 very minor flaws and the lining. I'll put the next set of pictures in the next post

Putting a couple of holes in it is a very good idea. I’ll probably do that too. As you suggest, the strap is also a little too skinny. As you say, though, unless you have black, finding a thicker substitute that matches is not easy. It’s why I was thinking of just a gold chain. A multi color webbing strap would be easier to match, I think, because there is not the expectation that the shade match exactly, just as long as a color or two complements the main color. But those straps are usually too wide, I thinkThanks for this detailed review (I already own a Neuf but it's probably very helpful for some). It's beautiful in the cognac color. Sure! I got mine in October. No signs of wear so far, but four months is not very long, I usually wait a bit longer until I form an opinion on how good it's holding up. But I brushed a few times against a wall with the bag and this did not leave any marks.Hi how long have you owned the Neuf? Would you share review on wear and tear, especially about cuffing? Thanks!
