Hello fellow Poleners!

I haven’t been here in a while but just wanted to pop in to say that after buying 11 Polene bags, mostly online and one in the Paris store (some I kept, some I returned, some I sold), I can honestly say that the Mini Neuf in camel has been my most used bag of the last year. Not only among my Polene bags, but among my entire designer collection.

To me, this bag is just absolute perfection; stunning design that is unique and modern. It’s an edgy mini size but with a large capacity inside.

The color is that rich camel neutral that goes with virtually anything. The leather has proven to be very durable after over a year of daily wear. The opening is small so it’s very secure cause I can still leave it open and comfortably throw my things inside (I usually leave my phone popping out vertically, making it so easy to reach for).

The bag is very lightweight, the strap is the perfect length and width and it falls beautifully on my body when worn crossbody.

All in all, I worship this bag and I’m even thinking of getting another one (those new prices though, ouch) just to keep it as a reserve in case something happens to mine and Polene decides to discontinue it, for whatever reason.

Hope this love affair story is useful for anyone starting out their Polene collection.:P:love:

What a wonderful rec! Would you mind sharing your height? I’m curious because you said it falls so nicely. I have trouble with bags straps being too short in crossbody.

I’m 5’6” and it falls very nicely. The strap is adjustable so you can find your perfect length.

I keep it on the shorter side to make the bag feel lighter and even if I stuff it, it doesn’t get too heavy.

Recent Polene Quality Issues? Has anyone else had issues with the hardware or glue spots?

More thoughts on this:

I feel like Polene is gaining a reputation online as a company with bad quality, but not everyone in real life checks handbag subreddit and handbag communities. There are still lines outside the door consistently. Plus, there are plenty of people with good quality Polene bags, either bought years ago or bought recently, and simply don't post as much. If the demand scales back a little but the company can keeps going, then there will be more, better quality bags and better customer service for remaining customers.

It will be interesting to see how Polene grows and develops in the next 5, 10 years. It does seem like it will keep growing. The only question is will the direction be quality first, or profit first.

I came across this video here and then checked the website and am abolutely in shock about their new price increase. I used to check this forum and have a few Polene bags but got fed up by their last unanounced price increase and have not bought since. They also did not release any new styles or new colours. With their former prices I would happily buy a new bag every year or even think about getting it in a different colour...now I stopped buying altogether and by the sound of it a lot of people think that way. I was also not aware of so many people complaining about the quality?? I guess there are still people out there who have not heard about them and they just dont know that their bags have been significantly cheaper a few months ago. I am actually really sad about this. I thought I found my favourite brand and now I lost all interest.

Does anyone know how I can distinguish an older Polene bag from a newer bag? Since their colors remain the same (basically) and most of styles are consistent (with some exceptions), is there a forum or reference somewhere that I could find this? Or does anyone have a tip on what to look for with older styles?
My intent is to find an older, higher quality (hopefully) bag.

Not sure about determining the age but the resale apps are flooded with fakes so def beware buying Polene “preloved”

Check dustbags but honestly, I've ordered Polene bag brand new from the store this year and it looks great. No issues or anything. Second the warning about fake Polene bags online.

There is always going to be skewed opinions online. Lots of people will buy Polene bags and not post them online, or not post them in English. I'm sure many people have nothing but positive experiences with Polene. It's the people who have negative reviews and need help that post them online, in the hopes their issue gets addressed soon.

To me, the bags are still affordable and worth the price, so I did buy a new one this year. I had no issues with it myself. As for the new designs like the Tonka, Nodde, etc., they're not my style, so I have all the Polene bags I could want.

Thank you. Yes, I’m concerned about all the fakes. If it’s obvious, I can see through photos it is not real. I’ve even had someone try to recreate a screenshot of a receipt to attempt to pull off a fake. It’s worrisome. With some brands it’s easier to spot a fake. Polene doesn’t seem to be as easy to distinguish unfortunately. It sounds like even TRR has been duped recently into thinking something was real that wasn’t.
With the dust bag is there something special I should look for or just that it looks like a real Polene dust bag?

This is hard too because some fakes will also have the same dustbag design. But older dustbags have the older Polene logo, since you said you wanted to look for older Polene bags. The new one is just Polene with an accent. Older ones have an outline of two people? three people?

I found this reference site which does a really nice job with things to look for when trying to spot a fake. Thought I would share.

Does anybody own the TONCA bag? I think it isn't very popular here on TPF.

I like also the shape of the dix, but the "hanging" straps on both sides I don't like and I think that would bother me. I don't own any POLENE bag until now, but I like some models of them.

Thank you for your answers!
I just made a YouTube video on my channel about my new Tonca bag. Maybe you could have a look if you’re interested. Let me know if you have any question

Quality issue or did I get duped? Purchased pre-loved and I don’t know if I’m being paranoid or if the loose thread is a common quality issue.

For your reference, this is my Dix purchased in November directly from the Polene website.
So far, all my Polene bags are very well made.

As many TPF members have commented about the rise of fake Polene bags, I can confirm that. In my recent Tonca bag video, someone has posted a comment with a link (#amzlv) to a China website selling all fake bags. I have reported to YouTube and the comment has been deleted.

Be careful when you see such kind of comments on YouTube. I always report the videos to YouTube when they promote fake goods. Then YouTube will inform me that they have removed those videos I reported.
