Sigh, well clearly I eventually succumb to trends and am also several years behind on Polene’s style foresight, bc I was not into this bag at all when it was released and now I have gone and bought one.

Tonca crossbody, in Cognac. I’ve been hunting for a straightforward brown crossbody for awhile - I wanted something more or less sling-bag -like, grab and go, durable, and streamlined. There’s obv no shortage of simple crescent crossbody bags at the moment, but to me a lot of them are just a little too boring. I eventually realized that this bag meets all my criteria while having a definite style and statement.

May i ask youre finding the tonca? Ive always liked it but was never sure on the size. How do you like it?

I still like it a lot, to the point I’ve considered getting a second one. But I haven’t been able to figure out what color. They obv don’t do the Tonca in as many colors as other bags.

I don’t wear a lot of black bags, I have the Dix in chalk, and I don’t like the two-tone Tonca so that basically leaves the taupe and I’ve just never been sure if I want their version of taupe. Plus I have other taupe bags. I’d love to see the Mauve come back in stock but I sort of doubt it will.

Other thoughts that are probably more relevant for you: I personally think the size is great, I always can fit more than I think I can. I carry: cardholder, small pouch, keys, lip gloss, concealer, sunglasses in a cloth pouch, and a tube of hand cream, typically. It’s the perfect size for all that.

The opening is definitely the million dollar question for this bag, and it would be hard to know in advance if it would annoy you or not. It occasionally annoys me, when I am trying to move stuff from one bag to another fast, because it’s not easy to get the Tonca to ‘sit open.’ But on the other hand I find it really easy to slip my hand in and out of when I’m wearing it, which is a plus.
