Update on my mini neuf order:
1st bag I returned and got an exchange because there was a small area of peeling in the handle mid seam:

2nd bag I am returning and getting a refund because by now I just felt lukewarm about the bag. After closer inspection I noticed there is peeling at the area of the stitches (although the handle is fine):

To be fair these are very very small and not obvious without close inspection. I don’t quite feel it’s acceptable to me though so I am returning and getting a refund.
Customer service has been generally responsive and helpful.
However I think I am definitely pausing on Polene for now since it feels like their QC has definitely gone down. I examined my regular black Neuf from May 2022 and did not find any problems.

Oh no! Were the bags brand new when they arrived to you? I was about to place an order but this is exactly what I was afraid of. Those imperfections would bother me too and I don’t want to deal with the hassle of returning a bag, etc.

Is return shipping back to Spain where they ship from? Worried if I place an order now, they might ship me a returned/flawed bag.

So much this^ ! I don’t want to hate on the Tonca, but with the double flap I was immediately like ‘that will be such a pain.’ Plus it looks like a nautilus seashell to me and I can’t unsee it.

That looks like an actual hole in the glazing. They absolutely need to take care of that for you.
Thank you! I emailed their CS and they mentioned that the Dix Hobo is discontinued so they offered different colors that are available however I decided to ask for a refund. So far their replies have been smooth and prompt, but I'd wait until I got the refund to fully verify the whole process from end to end. I really love the bag though. But I am sure there will be new models or colors in the future.

Why don’t you reach for your Neuf Mini in taupe? Just curious.

Do you mind sharing what was off about those 5?
Of course! I had Un nano in black (my first Polene bag), then Sept in burgundy, mini Sept in navy, Dix hobo in black and lastly mini Neuf in taupe. Basically the main issue was that for how big those bags look they can't hold that much. I absolutely loved the design of all of these but almost never used them because I usually go to the office and then straight out with friends or to my boyfriend's. This requires a bag that can hold more than my phone, keys, wallet and few cosmetic products.

Besides that, for burgundy Sept, I didn't like how the strap fit me and the colour of mini Sept turned out different than it looked on the website so that was a bummer. Dix hobo could contain more than the previous ones but was very heavy. Finally, the mini Neuf looks gorgeous, can fit more but is quite inconvenient to get into and I really don't have big hands. Whenever I'm putting something in or getting it out, I fear I might damage the opening or the handle somehow. It is also a bit asymmetric in its construction but it doesn't bother me as much as the opening being too tight.

But I must say I never had any quality issues with these bags maybe except the mini Neuf with its asymmetry (but as said before it doesn't bother me that much given it's a handmade bag). I bought them between 2019 - 2022. I loved how well the bags were made, how sturdy they were and how premium the leather felt. It took me some time to realize they just don't suit my lifestyle as I'm unfortunately a kind of person who has to bring her entire room with herself, haha. I'm now happy they found a new home and hopefully the new owners enjoy them much more than I did. (For work purpose I now use my Longchamp Le Pliage or Coach Soft Tabby which are both great.)

Thanks for sharing. I totally understand your point.
It’s like they say: If you don’t use it, it’s clutter.

I’ve recently sold another one of my bags and will possibly sell one more. I’d rather lose some money and reinvest what I do get in bags I will actually use.

I happen to absolutely love my Neuf Mini and it is my most worn bag during the week. I definitely want another one, and now that I have tried many of the bags that Polene offers, I know which ones actually work for me, so I can edit my collection accordingly.

Yes the bags seemed packaged perfectly in brand new condition. Shipping is directly back to Spain via DHL express, customer service provides the label so it really quite fuss free. I am a little bummed after getting all hyped up about the mini neuf but I decided to just return to get a refund after 2 consecutive problematic bags, to save towards other bags that would hopefully be equally pretty but of more reliable quality. Best of luck if you decide to order!

Received my numero dix hobo today and couldn't help but wonder is this lining normal? It doesn't look evenly stitched. I own the smaller dix as well and certainly the lining is not like this.

Also a bit bumped on what looked like a tiny cut on the glazing.. not major but since the bag is in chalk color, it is noticeable. I've emailed them anyhow so let's see.

The lining on the inside of my new dix has the same issue! It is uneven and looks like they hastily cut it and just glued it in. It came in just yesterday and smells like glue on the inside as well.

So far the rest of the bag looks okay, but there is one thread that seems..loose and/or glued on. Picture attached. Do you guys think it's a defect that I should contact Polene about?

By the way I been on the forum for a while and reading all of your posts have been so helpful for me in purchasing bags!

This is more or less where I am at this point. I have a sense of which Polene bags will work for me, and would buy more of those. I also like the mini Neuf a lot, it’s the perfect size for what I need to carry when using a crossbody, and it proved quite durable on my international trip recently.

I just sold my regular Neuf in beige. The bag was gorgeous, held plenty, and I love the look of it. But - I didn’t love the color with my skin tone, and it ended up feeling bulky compared to what I prefer. I think I am also going to sell my regular Huit. As much as I love the color of that one, it is also bulkier than I like. Plus my husband doesn’t like it lol.

The clasp on my Polène numero sept broke after only 4 uses. I got this bag in late December and the clasp came off for no reason and I am extremely disappointed considering how much this bag costs. Has anyone else had such an experience? Does Polène offer free repairs?

That is insane and unacceptable. Mine is going strong after a year of use and God knows that clasp has been through a lot. What's customer service saying? You should absolutely reach out with photos, and let them know that others who have purchased Polène bags on a forum you contribute to are scared to purchase more due to quality issues like these. They need to either fix or replace this.

Was your mini neuf in taupe? Good to know the return process went smoothly but I’m still hesitant to order now with the quality issues. I really do like that bag though. We’ll see if I decide if it’s worth rolling the dice…
