It' true I bought the least Hawaiian cw of FP

I have orchids so great idea

LBD bodycon?
silk maxi (slightly 1940s style)?
Slip dress?
Building on @scarf1 's excellent suggestions, I would vote for Au coeur de vie tied in a necklace knot, perhaps instead of the usual 3 knots for a 90, try 4-6 tight knots to give the impression of a Hawaiian Lei necklace. That way you leave your hair free to add a flower behind your ear. The dress could be any shift style or slip dress, perhaps in a solid color to go with the scarf, as this style of dress would be similar to the shape of a Hawaiian Mumu dress. Add some type of shell/beaded bracelets and sandals and you're good to go! Be sure to post your final look if you have a chance!

A couple of thoughts.
1. Wear the scarf necklace style.
2. Wear scarf as a belt , then add flower lei, or necklace made out of shells.
3. Wear scarf as a top

I think short or long dress either a neutral like white or black, or even a bright dress in green or blue could work.

Have a great time! Looking forward to the pix!

Glad you said a bright dress in green or blue because I have a blue-green silk satin, one-shouldered maxi on standby. Maybe as a belt

So I need an orchid for my hair and I need shells (will pearls do? Guessing not) shells, shells shells :-s I live on a beach and I can't remember if I have any shell jewellery,, I shall rummage in my boxes.

Tomorrow I will try styling the scarf.

I love the idea of the knotted scarf, I may have to add a shorter one behind my neck to keep a Lei length. Brilliant idea!!!!!

I had a Mexican, floral embroidered, turquoise dress that would have been ideal but I cut it into a top (my sister told me not to)

1) I love the idea of the blue/green one-shouldered maxi with the scarf as a belt
2) Also like the idea of the scarf tied as a top with white pants, sandals and a flower in your hair
3) slip dress with the scarf necklace style is awesome and probably the most comfortable although I think black is too dark for the bright colors of the scarf
4) Another idea is to wear the scarf as a head wrap if you can get away with this (I can't)
5) Scarf with a long flowy skirt and fancy tank/tee is also an option

I actually think you don't need shells. The scarf is so bright and pretty that it stands on it's own. The only other accessory I would add are fun statement earrings!

Excellent ideas and confirmations.

You're right the scarf doesn't have black in it

If I don't need shells that would help, I certainly have some statement earrings

Thank you

2,5 very classy ideas. 3 as well but as you say best with light coloured slip dress. Nice to have a good occasion to bring the Statement earrings out. As the evening falls they also elevate a daytime look.

So much fun!

@papertiger , hope I am not too late to the party (ha!), but I would wear the scarf even as a regular shawl with a simple dress (handy if 22C in day time and than cools off) and just go for the flower in your flair (either a hibiscus or a plumeria) + bright red lipstick. I don’t think you need to overthink this at all!

Not sure where you live, but in the U.S., craft supply stores like Michael’s will have strings of shells to be worn as necklaces (they might have the fake flowers as well!).

As a side note, this is why I never throw themed parties, I don’t want the guests to be stressed out :)

Thank you. I may well do that too, coz I know that's I'm probably going to end the night ;). I absolutely will go to the florist in the morning, fresh flowers in the hair seems obligatory.

Our craft shops are usually franchises, fall of kits to make this or that. A haberdashers may be a better bet. Like you mentioned I don't want to spend the whole day fussing and worrying so unless I can wear a vintage corral necklace the sea-jewellery is out.

These particular friends always throw themed parties. I went as Norma Desmond to the last one (can't even remember what the theme was now but it was more inside my comfort zone). It's a fun thing to do if one doesn't have to work all week before the party - mustn't complain least I have their present already.

Hello everyone,
Can I wear swimsuit as a top? I like the print design. I am not comfortable with the high thigh cut (the rest of the design is adorable though!) I want to max out my spending cost and use this swimsuit like a typical T-shirt. Thanks to everyone for you input.

I certainly would! H shows with pareos so a skirt complements as well.
How would it look with a scarf as shrug?
