Thank you everyone for your support and for taking the time out of your busy lives to help me look online. I just wanted to update and let everyone know that I've followed up with the police this afternoon and that they've watched the surveillance footage, found someone of interest, and have spoken to a witness. They won't tell me more than that until the C progresses further.

Holy!! I read your response a page back. You think you know who it is?!? I would be so horrified!! Did they actually break in? (Break the lock and all or dod they have another way in?) I can't believe someone could do this. I hope they go to jail. You should also sue for pain and suffering.

Sorry-I've edited this about three times now. But I also wanted to tell you I love how much information you have on each one of your bags down to every little mark with the date stamps and all. It's so nice to see how much you love your bags. Again, I hope they are caught and your bags come back to you unharmed. [emoji171]

I'm very sorry this happened. I hope that loser thief gets caught, their genitalia bursts into flames and all your items are recovered.

If this has already been mentioned before, I apologize. Get one of those "nanny cams", a teddy bear with a hidden camera and catch them in the act, if they do this again.

You were smart to post this. This thread is getting a lot of visibility. Best of luck!!! [emoji173]️

That is great news! Hey, I just thought of these other potential companies you may want to notify, in case the thief tries to sell to them: Fashionphile & Yoogi's Closet (and any other stores that resell designer handbags). You may have already thought of this, of course, but just in case...

I'm so sorry you have to go thru this horrible ordeal! I hope the thief gets caught soon and your bags are retuned to you safely! And hopefully all goes well with the insurance company. Filing a claim can be stressful but with your detailed information of the stolen bags, I believe it's gonna be really helpful and speed up the process for you. I'm so impressed with your list of the stolen bags! It's so thorough and well-documented. I can tell that you're highly organized and definitely take a very good care of your bags! <3

So sorry this happened to you! Def press charges if and when the criminal slips up as they likely will!

So sorry to hear about this! It's awful! So great that you had all the date codes!

OMG! This makes my blood boil!! I so, so sorry this happened to you! They knew exactly what to take and what not to! :bagslap: Insider for sure! :nogood: I will keep an eye out on the ATLV Thread if any come up for an Authentication. God Bless Miss Krys! :hugs:

Aww, so sorry this happened to you, that's absolutely awful, it has to be someone who knows you and where you store your gems, hopefully they catch them... if not hopefully insurance covers a new collection..

I am so sorry that you were robbed and now emotionally you have to go through the feelings of being violated and unsafe in your home. I am happy to hear the police are taking this seriously and have already viewed the security tape and found more to follow up with. What is strange that another person could somehow have a key to get in your place so easily.

My best friend was robbed when she got her first place after her divorce and the items taken did not really matter to her because insurance covered it but the feeling of not being safe lasted for many months so know it is normal for you to have a wide range of emotions hitting you when you least expect it. She ended up putting expensive security locks on her front door and bedroom along with deadbolts too. She said she slept better having her bedroom locked like this and she got a dog a few weeks after her robbery.

I hope having your parents for the weekend can offer you some well needed support and comfort. Can your dad change the locks himself and nobody but your parents and maybe boyfriend haveing an extra set of keys? Keys on a keychain can be taken or copied if there is a group of people sharing dorm rooms or apartments. Think of how people throw their keys around and are not in the room with them all the time. My friends boyfriend was a lawyer and he told her never to have her house key on a key chain when she took her car for repairs or even left with a valet and I think this is excellent advice.

Wishing you the best. Hopefully the police can follow up quickly and your bags will be recovered.

I'm so sorry to hear what has happened to your collection! I hope some positive results come soon! It breaks my heart to read all the items taken... so many years of collecting!
Again, kudos on having such detailed information about all your items!!!
I hope they catch the person and recover your items/babies!
SENDING YOU SOME BIG HUGS FROM NEW ZEALAND!!!! (I love YYE but I left my heart in YYC!) I hope you have a relaxing weekend with your family. It's good to know that there's someone in question!!!
Take care of yourself!!!!
MORE HUGS!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear your terrible experience. I know how that feels...
Glad you did not get physically hurt or something.
Hope police could catch the thieves.
And I hope you could still find peace and security in your home.

We also had our house broken-into last year, thieves did not take any of our tech stuff. They took money, all my jewelry and heirloom jewelry from my grandmother and my mom ( worth a fortune) and all my LV mono bags and Burberry checks bags (left all leather bags and DE LV), specialized bikes, golf bags with sets. The police said the thieves were pros and knew what to take. They left the costume jewelry took only the ones with much value. Unfortunately our insurance did not cover all the jewelry... just $2k
We never got over the lost or our peace of mind and feeling of security,.. we decided to sell our home and moved this year.

Ohhhh my G.:wtf::wtf:

I cannot realize! Poor of you! :crybaby::crybaby:All your babies gone! Courage and give us news! I hope police will find the thief.:cursing:
Thank you everyone for your support, suggestions, and offers to keep an eye out online! It really means a lot to me and I'm beyond grateful.

Update: Yesterday afternoon/early evening I went to LV and had most of the receipts reprinted and then saw my insurance provider afterwards. Despite the police report, receipts, and detailed description of my property the insurance company was extremely reluctant to start a claims case because they think this theft is either a scam (because of the particular items stolen and the fact that my electronics and jewellery were left behind) or 'if genuine' would be a result of my negligence and they accused me of "forgetting to lock my door". WTF! Right now they want to play the wait-and-see game, although a claim has been submitted, before they will reimburse me for my losses. Jesus riding a bicycle to mass on a Tuesday I hate dealing with insurance:mad:
The police are still actively investigating, apparently they have video surveillance and a witness, and the company that owns and manages the apartment complex is being cooperative. Maintenance will be coming by on Monday morning to install a new lock on my door - it has to a specific one to match the skeleton key used by the management company. I've also contacted Fashionphile and Yoogi's Closet in case the thief tries to sell to them.

Sadly, I am not surprised that your insurance company expresses some sort of suspicion. The fact that there was no sign of forced entry does not play in your favor. Same for the untouched electronics and jewelry.

Also, did you ask what rate the insurance company would eventually compensate you? Does your policy provide a "new replacement" value or a kind of depreciated value?

Miss Krys, this is an awful situation! But it is good that the police have a " person of interest" and that the management company is being cooperative. Hopefully you will get some answers soon, although I know it won't make your lovely collection return.

Good luck with the insurance; I know that they are slow but hopefully once the police have finished the investigation and made their determination you will have a good result.

My homeowners insurance will not schedule bags either, only jewelry and art, and they have also told me to save receipts.

Fabuleux has made an excellent point: check to see if you would receive replacement value or "current value" (which might be the case especially for your vintage bags)

I've received several compliments and comments about the documentation of my collection, both here and in person. Basically what would happen is that after each purchase or gift I would write down the date, the location of purchase (if it was a gift then where the person purchased it), the name of the bag/item, a brief description such as the colour or canvas print, and lastly the date code. Over the course of using that item I would write down any noticeable traits as they appeared such as wrinkling, staining, scuffs, odours, etc. as well as dates that the item was sent for repair and what the repair was for - essentially the item's life history. After each use it only took a couple of seconds to give my things a once over and only a few seconds more to jot down a note if needed. This documentation has been useful any time I've decided to sell (think of it as an auto report, but for purses) or in the case of recent events where I was agitated I wouldn't have been able to tell you what I had for breakfast that morning let alone describe what was missing. It only takes a little bit of time to do this and even less time to maintain it, but it has been a tremendous help to me and the police.

I wasn't surprised either, just extremely frustrated. My particular policy will reimburse me for the selling price at the time of new, so essentially the price my NF was selling for back in 2013 is what I'll receive. My closer to vintage pieces (Speedy 30 and Shopping Sac) are a little trickier and I'm under the impression that the insurance will take a look at the going rate for similar pieces online for comparison, just because an accurate value is difficult to determine due to the amount of time that has passed and inflation rates. The rep who I was dealing with to open a claim was extremely reluctant to discuss reimbursement or to even give me a rough idea of the amount of time it would take to process the claim. That doesn't surprise me either unfortunately, but it just adds salt to an open wound.

I still hope that they can get the bags back for you since it's high probability to find the thief. Is it possible to negotiate with them that they give you stolen stuff and you will not bring them to the court? Regarding insurance, their task is to refuse to pay or pay as little as possible. I'm not surprised with what they told you. My daughter was sick and we must delay our planed trip. They refuse to pay the difference between original tickets and new tickets, they said we should cancel our trip first, wait for their payment and then buy new tickets :). I gave up because it cost more to argue with them than I pay myself.

Thats awful, sorry to hear it. I had a bag with numerous SLGs, a laptop and iPad taken from my car while I was at work. I had left it on the back seat floor covered by a coat. Luckily there was surveillance footage of the smash and grab, a car parked next to the luxury cars in the lot and scoped the insides, and chose mine to smash a window and grab the bag. They had no way of knowing I had the bag on the floor of the backseat unless they saw me pull into work at 5am and cover it.

I was told by my insurance company that my renter's insurance would cover the loss. I made a claim and gave them police report number. I was asked to submit photos as proof of ownership (luckily I had multiple photos, including group shots of the items and photos of me holding them) and PDFs of digital receipts that showed date of purchase and location. After a week, i got a call back and they told me they would cover the full retail cost minus depreciation on all the items. If I were to repurchase each item within 2 years, I would receive the depreciation reduction back in full. This allowed me to go on a shopping spree and replace each item, sometimes with newer more updated items, some cases more expensive too. I just received the difference in depreciation up to the original purchase amount.

All in all the reimbursement was for $10,000, with a total depreciation reimbursement of $11800 by the time I replaced the items. I was notified by the insurance company (State Farm) that due to the large amount, I could be potentially removed as a customer in the event of frequent claims. This is my first claim with them in 5 years of being a customer. The letter came with tips on how to prevent future theft from happening.

I was incredibly thankful that it worked out. Luckily I had surveillance of the theft, a police report, and all receipts and pictures of proof of ownership and was not met with much resistance from the insurance company.

I'm so horrified your insurance is being like that! You have a police report for crying out loud. Surely they can contact the police to discuss the surveillance footage. That happens here all the time.

I'm also shocked they don't do new for old replacement too. That makes it worse as it won't put you in a financial position that you were before. Which unfortunately wouldn't even help with your emotional distress and loss of sentimental items but at least would replace your bags with no further loss.

I'm so angry for you!

Good insurance coverage will make all the difference: insurance policies are not created equal.
