The police called me this evening to let me know they made an arrest. Apparently the individual, an employee of the company who owns and manages the apartment complex I live in, was found with one of my bags in their possession. They won't tell me who it is right now nor will they tell me which one of my bags was recovered.
I hope you recover all your bags! If all are recovered I'd then consider switching insurance companies. I can not stand when a business makes you feel like you're doing something wrong by asking them to provide exactly what you pay them for. Plenty of competition in the insurance industry these days.

Update: Yesterday the police handed me back what remains of my collection. My Speedy (thank goodness!), Shopping Sac, Bijoux Flocon charm, and the MK Multifunctional tote have been found but everything else has been, according to the thief, "sold":crybaby:
Right now I'm in the process of pressing charges, so I can't get into the deep details, but essentially what happened was last monday we had the annual unit inspection where an employee of the company enters our suits using their skeleton key, whether we're home or not, and makes sure that the appliances are in working order, that there's no damage to the suite, etc. and when done they leave and lock up. This is normal and, according to the law, all tenants must receive at least 24 hours notice. The only evidence that someone had been and gone was a letter on my kitchen counter saying that they had been there and a checklist showing everything to be in working order and that there were no outstanding concerns (i.e. cleanliness, pets, etc.). I believe that during the inspection the 'trusted' employee, who's on their own btw, took the time to snoop around and hunt for my purses - something of which they've always complimented me on when I go the office each month to pay my rent and something that never made me think twice...until thursday. This employee would've had a good idea when I would be away, now knew where my collection was, had access to my suite, and could move around the building and enter/exit my home without drawing any real attention, and on the way out leave my door unlocked. The really sad thing is that I waved to that person when I was walking towards the bus stop and the surveillance footage confirmed that they had taken my purses not even half an hour later.
The employee has since been fired and the company came by on monday to change the locks like they promised, although this was more of a gesture of goodwill rather than being effective since the remaining employees still have skeleton keys. The company has also agreed to change their practice and will now require at least two employees be present during inspections, maintenance, etc. since the thief has apparently been found with property belonging to other tenants. I'm also still wrestling with my insurance company who doesn't want to compensate me for my losses - something that has now been proven - and instead wants to target the owning company's insurance since it was their employee. I am NOT in the mood for this BS and will be going into the insurance company's office tomorrow and get this straightened out. I've paid my rate faithfully each month for the past 7 years with these clowns and they will - I don't care how they do it or who they go after - fix this and pay out:cursing:
After my last midterm this friday I will be moving to a different apartment, run by a different company, since my sense of safety has been shattered. I'm also moving the pitiful remains to a safer location for storage; simply put I no longer feel comfortable using them or even associating myself with them...at least for now. With that being said I'll be taking a break from tpf for a while; the loss is still very raw and being here is painful reminder for me.

Again I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone for your support, whether it was with comforting words, heartfelt advice, or taking time out of your busy lives to look online, during these past few days. Happy Holidays (although it's still early) to everyone and may the new year be as awesome as you want to make it!

Sending u a virtual hug. Im sorry youre going through this mess. Being violated like that leaves lasting mistrust. I hope your insurance.company ends up treating you right. Good luck on midterms and the move.

I don't know if you'll see this but I'm so glad they caught the person and recovered some of your bags. I hope your insurance company does the right thing and comes through for you. So sorry you've been through this.

I know that this is a shot in the dark but please try and help me to find my stolen purse collection! I came back from classes this afternoon (Oct. 20) and found the door to my apartment unlocked and everything seemingly untouched, including my iMac and MacBook Air as well as my jewellery - all in plain sight, but the vertical dresser I store my purses and SLGs inside of had been opened and they were all gone. The only things I have left are my DE Delightful, DE Pochette, DE Cles, and my Clemence wallet and that's because I had taken them with me today.
I've contacted the police and I have a strong suspicion on who it could be but right now the authorities can't do anything until they either go through the legal process or unless they find probable evidence. In the meantime please help me keep an eye out on sites such as eBay and other sites such as Craigslist, especially if the seller has posted today or in the next couple of days and originates from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada or the surrounding areas. Here's a list of what's missing:
  • Mono Speedy 30. Date code SP0928. Has an even, dark honey/caramel patina all over, the Made In France tab on the end has some nibble marks (from my cat) at the bottom, there's a short noticeable gash towards the base of the handle - just above the hardware - on the side where the LV's face upwards, 4 very minor cracks in the canvas along the zipper stitching, and inside is a clear fibreglass base shaper. Hardware shows no signs of oxidization or chipping despite its age and the pull tab is original with noticeable wrinkling around the metal button. Has its original drawstring-style dust bag and is stuffed with an IKEA pillow.
  • Mono Shopping Sac. Date code MB0021. Has a medium honey patina all over with a couple of water spots on the straps, a blue pen mark (about 1/4") on one of the handles, has a slight crease along the base from how the bag is naturally folded, due to its length, inside of its dust bag - although this can disappear quickly if the tote is stuffed and the canvas relaxes. Hardware shows no signs of oxidization or chipping despite its age. Has its original drawstring-style dust bag.
  • OM Delightful MM. Date code FL4104. Has just started to develop a patina and has some noticeable wrinkling along the top trim. No noticeable watermarks on the strap. The alignment of the pattern on the bottom of the bag, along the seam, is near perfect. Has a modern envelop-style dust bag and is stuffed with 2 IKEA pillows.
  • DE Neverfull GM. Date code SP0133. Didn't come with the Pochette, has some minor wrinkling along all 4 bases of the straps - just above the 'leaves', noticeable wrinkling along the top trim, the handles show signs of relaxing but still have a tendency to partially stand up on their own, the side drawcords have been seldom used and are stiff and the canvas along the sides shows no signs of being cinched. Has a modern envelop-style dust bag and is stuffed with 2 IKEA pillows.
  • Mono Pochette Accessories NM. Date code VI1173. Has a light honey patina and no noticeable soiling - has primarily been used as a catchall inside of a larger bag. The strap is still fairly stiff from lack of use. The hardware shows no signs of tarnishing or chipping, although it does have some minor scratches from the zipper pull banging up against the zipper teeth. Has a modern envelop-style dust bag common to SLGs.
  • Mono Cosmetic Pouch GM. Date Code SR4184. Barely has a patina and the interior is free of soiling. The hardware is new and only has a few minor hairline scratches. Has a modern envelope-style dust bag common to SLGs.
  • Mono/Mimosa Yellow Emilie wallet. Date code TH4154. Is clean throughout and the CC slots have some minor stretching. The front button has a single scratch on the front, but has not broken the leather. The hardware has some minor hairline scratches associated with normal use. Doesn't show any signs of the 'air bubble' issue. Has a modern envelop-style dust bag common to SLGs.
  • DE/Red Emilie wallet. Date code TH0144. Is clean throughout and the CC slots have some noticeable stretching associated with normal use. No excessive soiling inside and the hardware has some minor scratches. The front button has a bit of discolouration/soiling. Doesn't show any signs of the 'air bubble' issue. Has a modern-style envelope common to SLGs.
  • Mono Cles. Date code CT2121. Has some minor soiling inside and the hardware shows some chipping associated from normal use. The canvas is still clean and beautiful. Has a modern envelope-style dust bag common to SLGs and is stored inside of its box along with original tags.
  • Tapage bag charm. Date code CK0191. Has some minor scratches on the clasp but is otherwise in beautiful condition. Has a modern drawstring pouch and is stored inside of its box along with the original tags.
  • Bijoux Flocon/Silver Jewelled Snowflake charm. AN1009. Has some hairline scratches on the clasp but is in otherwise beautiful condition. Has all of the Swarovski crystals intact. Has a modern envelop-style dust bag and is stored inside of its box along with the original Japanese tags.
Also stolen:
  • Gucci Long Continental Wallet in black leather. Shows signs of wrinkling and the CC slots are stretched out from normal use and plenty of love. Missing its dust bag.
  • MK Studded Selma in black saffiano leather. Has all of the studs in tact and the strap has been shortened by a third-party cobbler - this is noticeable above one of the clasps by slightly mismatching glaze and stitches. Has its cream and brown 'silk' dust bag and stuffed with an IKEA pillow.
  • MK large Gathered Jet Set tote in brown mono. Is in beautiful condition throughout and the handles show signs of wrinkling. The canvas has relaxed with use and has a prominent slouch. Has its cream and brown 'silk' dust bag and is stuffed with an IKEA pillow.
  • MK Multifunctional tote in vanilla mono - has the open top with the centre zippered laptop compartment, the leather handles and canvas have softened with use and now slouch like a well-loved NF. No signs of soiling or colour transfer. Has its cream and brown 'silk' dustbag.
  • MK Collection Skorpios Hobo in black leather and gold hardware. The leather is in beautiful condition with no noticeable blemishes and the hardware has minor hairline scratches on the ends of the pull cord. Is missing its original dust bag and has been stored inside of a cream flannel pillowcase and stuffed with an IKEA pillow.
  • MK Continental wallet in black leather. The gold face plate says 'Michael Kors Est. 1981' and shows signs of scratches from normal use. The CC slots have some minor stretching. Does not have a dust bag.
  • MK cosmetic pouch in brown mono. Is about the size of a LV Cosmetic Pouch PM, has the same faceplate as the wallet above with minor scratches, and the interior has a few black specks from cosmetics. Has no dust bag.
  • Coach Edie in black leather. The leather is in beautiful condition and has a small scuff on the bottom right-hand corner of the logo side. The gold dog tag has minor hairline scratches. Is missing the original dust bag and is stored inside of cream flannel pillowcase.
  • A custom made 'Delightful' hobo in black bullhide leather. It is nearly identical in every aspect, including dimensions, the only hardware is two heavy genuine but plain silver hoops (in need of a polishing) attaching the handle to the bag and the interior is made from black suede and lacks any pockets. On the top (centred in the middle and in small font) of the flat handle are the leather craftsman's initials "KS" in classic German/Austrian calligraphy. This bag never came with a dust bag and is stored in a dark brown flannel pillowcase and stuffed with 2 IKEA pillows.
Oh my God its horrible what happened to you! Maybe ebay could help also if you mail them detailed information. Of course LV has know so very smart of you to contact them.

What an utterly awful thing to happen to you - I'm pleased there has at least been some kind of resolution, but you still have to live with the trauma. I know how it feels, many years ago my home was broken into and my jewellery stolen (and the entire place trashed). I don't blame you for planning to move. I think all you can do if the housing company does spot visits is arrange to be there during an inspection - but if you don't receive prior warning then that is impossible. One of my ex-colleagues had a similar thing happen to him, an expensive watch was stolen from his bedside table and it was very difficult for him to prove that the inspector had taken it. Unfortunately there are some really sh*tty people in the world and events like this can leave you suspicious of everyone. I hope the insurance company can make good the loss on the remaining pieces, but nothing can make up for their sentimental value.

A word about insurance - it is fairly common for one insurer to place liability on another insurer in certain circumstances. Your claim could indeed lie with whoever is managing (or whoever owns and manages) the apartment complex - since they were essentially responsible for the loss given the involvement of their employee. Therefore your insurer may instruct you to contact the manager at your complex on how to make a claim against them. They would then send you the appropriate forms to fill in. If you are unable to, or if you're unsuccessful in pursuing the complex's insurance company, then your insurance company would then compensate you and pursue clawback themselves. That is how it often is in the UK and I believe in the US ( if that's where you are) the system is similar from what I recall.

I'm glad that some sense of resolution is on the horizon for you, my dear. My best advice - don't lose complete faith in people (I know it's very tough at the present time, given the recent set of circumstances). I hope that you come back to TPF when you're ready and blessings to you now and in the future. Happy Holidays and many, many hugs :hugs:

Good idea to move. I remain very suspicious myself of any maintenance people and also builders coming into my home when I'm not there. I don't even like leaving them in another room as you just don't know what they're looking at, picking up, assessing. Can't the police find out who he sold the bags to?

I would just like to say I'm sorry again for the loss of your bags. I know they are material items, but I understand having sentimental connections to our bags. We work hard for them and love them. I'm really glad you got to the bottom of who took them and the person was caught. What a horrible thing to have happen. I'm glad you're moving! Best wishes to you.

What an awful situation to be in. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. While this is not the most ideal resolution, at least the thief was caught and I hope that he/she gets the punishment they deserve. If there is any chance you can get restitution from the thief, I hope you can get it. Yeah, it's not the same as getting the lost items back but it's something at least. I hope you can provide another update to all of this and I wish you all the best.
