I have the chopard. It was my first watch. And I have a ballon bleu small SS. I love both. Chopard is my dress watch and cartier is my casual. The cartier face is much larger than the chopard. I originally wanted the tank franc. But found out my SIL got it so I went with the ballon. I would love a rolex but it would def have to have diamonds so I guess maybe in another 10-20 yrs.

I am pretty sure she would love anything you get her. What a lucky girl!

Btw, did u discuss any discounts? When I bought my husband his rolex gmt master ii or whatever it's called....we got 20% off 1 week before the price increase back in 2008 at an authentic rolex jewelry store. Plus no tax bc he sent it to a friend out of state who sent it back to us. Shipping cost was $50. We were very happy customers. We didnt even ask for a discount. The watch manager just offered it to us!

guys do you think the chopard two tone rose gold and steel will go well with what leather strap? it has a pink face but for a dress watch which works better for the females? Pink croc? Dark Blue croc? or the Brown croc? thanks guys.

hi I.WANT.IT.ALL - i was given a 10% discount for the two-tone rolex but it is still out of my budget unfortunately, thats why im considering the balon bleu small ss and the chopard happy sport two tone round w/ leather strap :D

thanks hokaplan.. im actually going to a cartier store tom and see the balon bleu personally. by the way is the chopard brand a good watch maker? as a guy im actually considering that because i know women loves diamonds =)

I would go with the ballon bleu as well. I believe you can order a leather strap for it as well and able to change it for different looks. I think the ronde is nice too. I have a sister that is 5'1" 90 lbs very tiny and the ronde looks nice on her.

Hmm, between the 2, I would go for Chopard. From your description, pink dial goes with pink leather strap but personally it's too girlish for me. Best to go for dark blue or brown strap with either white, blue or black dial. That combination is easier to match anything your wife wears for evenings. I find rose gold very appealing with brown.

Cartier Ballon Bleu is nice but I am just concerned about how classic will it be say 10 to 15 years down the road. It's one of the newer models compared to Demoiselle or Santos or Tank.

Jonathan- remember ur wife said she didn't like Omega a couple of pages back.

Also you asked about the watch craftmanship of Chopard. I happen to have this book that comprises the "Top 10 of things" lists, one being a list of watches. Rolex, Cartier and Omegas made the list. Rolex and Omega is better in craft but not as classy in design IMO. Cartier is a good hybrid of craft and fashion. Not to say chopard isn't quality. Just not to the par of the formers.

If your wife is looking more for a beautiful watch for special occasions and to the office, I'll go for Chopard in blue croc.

If she needs fuction as well as fashion, go for 2 tone Tank.

I have a Cartier watch and I love it. The Tank IMO is the classic of all watches and if u read the thread on celebrities and their watches, 75-80% wear the tank.

thanks nvie and chinalocachanel..

ok, so its down to two choices if it is chopard, the new happy sport two-tone rose gold in brown croc strap and the classic happy sport in blue croc strap?

by the way is the JLC reverso ladies a good watch? the SA suggested it also.
