I've never cared for the band/design of that Omega. Have you looked at this one? Same watch, different options/upgrades:

That Rolex is gorgeous!! If I were to receive that from my husband, I'd be a very happy girl. I don't care for two-toned watches and I find the floating diamonds in Chopard annoying.

I'm torn between the Rolex and the Chopard.

Re the Omega: am really not a fan of two tone watches and the diamonds look dated.
The Rolex: classy, simple, elegant, versatile, understated, powerful. It doesn't matter that it's entry level - what girl doesn't want a Rolex? She would never have to take this off.
The Chopard: beautiful, sophisticated and incredibly romantic. Definitely a wonderful gift from a lover and a special occasion watch. It depends though on her style aesthetic - it may be overly-fussy if she is not a girly-girl.

Every woman loves a Rolex. My comments on Omega Constellation and Rolex Datejust

Omega Constellation
Pros
1. Classic watch
2. Nice combination of steel and gold
3. Diamond bezel is a plus point
4. Quartz movement means I don't have to wind my watch when I want to wear it
5. Brushed steel bracelet means less visible scratches compared to polished steel

Cons
1. Since the big watch trend is in, the size may be a bit small unless you consider the mid-size one but I still prefer the 24mm.

Summary: I love this watch and wear it daily

Rolex Datejust:
Pros:
1. It's a classic
2. Retains its value well....price keeps going up
3. Jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel means less visible scratches compared to oyster bracelet and domed bezel
4. 26mm is the right size for me

Cons
1. Automatic means winding it everytime I want to wear it......I wish Datejust could come in quartz
2. Maintenance - advised to send for servicing once every 2 years

Summary: I love this watch but I don't wear it daily. Mine is a two tone, so I wear it when I feel like it and of course on occasions.

Can't comment on the Chopard as I don't own one but I have been eyeing it. If your wife is going to wear it for dinner or occasions, it seems a bit casual. Between the Omega and Rolex, it's really your wife's preference. Does she like two tone? Hmm, looking at her age, she would prefer the all steel one be it Rolex or Omega. As I get older, I love the look of two tone and all gold!

My advise, bring her to try it out so you won't regret it. It's an expensive surprise so you want to get it right.

Rolex for sure! It's a simple and elegant with just the right amount of bling. Great "power" watch that she will feel confident wearing for years to come. My least favorite is the Chopard. Too fussy for my tastes.

Have you considered Cartier?

thank you for all the comments, now im a little bit down to a different set since i heard her telling her friend that an omega isnt for her, i just dont know why?

anyways is a cartier tank a better choice than a rolex datejust whitegold on steel? because where im buying the chopard happy sport square classic with five stones and five sapphires in all steel is the same price as the rolex? given that consideration what would you suggest?

hi, actually my fiancee tried the rolex datejust but the two-tone one (rosegold and steel) she loved it and she likes the size? thats the reason why im torn because i cant afford the rose gold but i can manage with the whitegold. :sweatdrop:

Hm, I have both a Rolex Datejust (31mm, steel, white dial, stick markers, oyster band, domed bezel, whew!) and a Cartier Tank Francaise (all steel, small) and in your situation, I think a white gold Rolex would be a better choice.

It retains value better and the added bling doesn't hurt! I love my Tank though...both are great choices but the Rolex is a little more  I also like that Rolex has more of a time piece-centered heritage while Cartier has more emphasis on fine jewelry. Spending the extra money on a Datejust is worth it. Consider the Tank Francaise or Roadster for a future anniversary/birthday?

Best wishes!

what do you guys think about the diamond face on the rolex datejust? saw a roman numeral instead in whitegold also. does this change the beauty of the watch or its ok since its still a rolex? :smile1:
