I got my mon mono after 10 weeks of waiting in March. I already have a chip right on the front of the bag on the off-white part of my striping.

My SA has left LV and there has been some tossing around of my issue for a couple months. Very frustrated.

Finally the leather goods manager got back to me today and will be offering me an exchange.

I am so torn; I don't know if I should stick with mon mono (because only 2 months of owning it resulted in it chipping)... But I don't really want any other bag. It's so fun and special because it's personalized.

Anyways, I'll be going in today to talk to her.

Mine chipped too. I also got it in March. I am convinced it was a bad batch of march purses. You should get a new one it should be ok. I am waiting for my new (exchange) mon mono as well.

I'm really hoping mine doesn't chip. But I already made a list of alternative bags just in case it does! I rarely use the bag because of this and even though I somewhat baby all my bags, this one makes me OCD. It really depends on how you'll feel if the bag chips again because most likely they won't do another exchange. So definitely think about it and talk over your options with the manager. There are many people that never had an issue with chipping so it seems like a luck of the draw...

I love my bag; I don't see myself wanting to NOT have it. But you're right I will probably not carry it as an everyday bag after this.

However you know it's really strange... Because I also baby my bags... and you'd think that the BOTTOM of all places would chip, since that's what comes into the most contact with surfaces.... So I think it was maybe a defect in that one spot.

I don't know.

I reeeeeallly don't know what to do. She said she's exchanging it so I just have to go in on the weekend.... But I don't know. Hard decision.

I decided to look mine over...less than two months old and the paint looks like it's kind of rubbing off in spots. Only on the bottom of the bag, so I'm guessing it's from sitting it down. Mine is from the "problem batch" too.
It's really not bad, and I'm not even thinking about taking it in to lv for those tiny spots, but I'll definitely have to keep an eye on it!

Do you know I cringed when I saw your name pop up as a new poster on this thread! I was like, "please don't let her bag have chipped!!" I know you said you'd just keep yours if it chipped, but that means mine is in the bad batch too for sure. Ack. Ok, I'm sure everyone is tired of me posting in this forum about chipping. This was just my first over 1k bag so I'm all OCD about it. Had this many people posted about chipping before I would have never purchased this bag. :crybaby:I won't post anymore about chipping and if mine chips I won't post about it. I always set my bag down on something soft to avoid chipping/rubbing on the bottom.

I wouldn't use me as an example- it's probably my fault! I've been carrying it to baseball and hockey and all over. I don't really baby it, as it's my big summer tote. And also, I keep my bags on shelves on the wall, and I have noticed that when it sits on the shelf for a long time it gets kind of stuck to the shelf, not really STUCK, but when I pick it up it makes a noise where it's kind of sticky on the shelving. I noticed it and meant to put a cloth under it, but just forgot. THere's a cloth under it now, but really, I imagine that being plopped on bleachers and stuck to the shelf etc.. has caused those little spots to rub off. I'm going to baby it a bit more and see if gets worse.
Also, mine really doesn't look like chips at all, it's two little spots that kind of stick up, so it's more like the color has rubbed off.

These bags cost over $1000 and yours has chipped and you won't bring it in? Your ebene Neverfull straps are also falling apart and you won't bring it in either .
No judging here but I don't know why you accept the poor quality. You have a great collection and are a good customer to LV but I don't understand why you accept the defects that are on your bags .

If you LOVE the bag,get another one and if that one chips bring it back. I honestly feel it was a bad batch of something that they use. I think LV knows something went wrong woth this batch and that's why they're exchanging them without much fuss .
If you love this bag and don't get another one and you decide on a different bag, more than likely you won't be able to get it off your mine ,then you'll end up getting another one and if you're like me ,it'll probably be after another price increase .
Good luck with your decision.

Oh, I'm not a total pushover..lol. I put LV through the wringer with my faulty glazed wallet until I got a perfect one! But....I accept that, although expensive, these are really just purses, and are never going to be absolutely perfect. I really think that the damier neverfull is designed poorly, those tiny skinny straps holding up that giant gm, with glazing on the edges and being bent and twisted..I just think that it's the design of the bag that the straps are going to crack, and when they get bad, I absolutely WILL take it in for repair. BUT, I'm never going to be the person carrying on in LV because of some teeny, tiny blemish that is only noticeable when you inspect the bag with a magnifying glass.

The spots on my mon mono are extremely tiny..and honestly? Despite the "protective glazing" or whatever that is put on the paint..it's paint! Paint on the bottom of a bag! lol And I have sat it on bleachers, and like I said, it stuck to my shelf..it's rested in dirty hockey locker rooms, the floor of my car etc.. and I'm not going to run into LV over those teeny specks.

Now, if my chipping looked like some of the others, or was on the front of the bag, or was even noticeable at first glance, I would definitely take it in. But taking it in because of those two tiny rubbed spots would be just silly.
