I want to add another 2 rose-y scents to my top 3.
Rose 1845 by L Douvos. a self assured modern lady, who knows how to get what she wants
La Rose Jacqueminot by Coty. old school, classy, l'art en vivre a France
Are you still able to buy perfume originally created by Francois Coty? If yes, please share the info with us. I would love to test his perfume.

I was finally able to get "Une Rose" (the travel spray is out of stock almost everywhere). I love it, but I think I prefer the MFK- A la Rose. I need to alternate both perfumes for a few days to confirm.
I'm now curious about "Lipstick Rose" and "Rose & Cuir."
To my nose A la Rose is more of a pink, pretty rose while Une Rose is a deeper, red rose with some earthiness, definitely a little more intense.

Lipstick Rose is a rose/violet fragrance, somewhat reminiscent of fragrant cosmetics. It's a very pretty, creamy scent, but definitely not a rose soliflore. As for larger decants and samples, you can also look into decanters like Surrender to Chance and The Perfumed Court.

@babybluegirl, in the realm of citrusy florals, you can also check out Eau de Magnolia by Frederic Malle. I forgot to mention it earlier, probably because although I like it, it wasn't a love for me.

The opening of Eau de Magnolia is one of the most beautiful I have ever smelled. I couldn't get enough of it. When it settled down, however, I didn't love it as much. I will wear it in summertime in small doses. It is very pretty and radiant, but to my nose it isn't as complex as some of the other FM fragrances. And I think I'm learning that I like complexity in a perfume.

I usually order my perfumes from NM or BG, but I have been very tempted to order from online sites that sell samples. Does anyone have info on decant/sample sites that could share here? I'm afraid that perfumes might be fake or diluted.

I came across The Fragrance Decant Boutique & FragranceNet, does anyone know if these are reliable sites for samples?

I've been happy with Scent Split . com and Lucky Scents .com

I came across The Fragrance Decant Boutique & FragranceNet, but I'm afraid I'll not get the genuine products. So I appreciate all the advice.
Decant Boutique is great, and Fragrancenet is totally legit. I've bought from both plenty of times, and what they offer is way better than those tiny dabber samples sold by Luckyscent or other places. I don't know why someone would be scared of buying from either of them. It's not like they're based in Russia.

When I lived in Holland, I had an orchard and roses were my favourite.

Surrender to Chance and Lucky Scent are my 2 spots for scents. Also Aedes de Venustas and Krigler as well as Ebay.

Thanks for sharing that Decant Boutique and Fragrancenet are legit. One just needs to read reviews on amazon to become concerned with the possibility of getting altered perfumes. I buy many items from amazon, but not fragrances or skin care products.

Yes, the opening is pretty but as it develops, I get a lot more of the moss and vetiver. Maybe it's my nose, but I am not picking up as much of the magnolia as I'd like to. It might wear a bit differently in summer though.
Regarding complexity in perfumes, I went through a phase some years ago when I was really into soliflores. However, I found them a bit disappointing after a while because of the lack of complexity, of interesting nuances. I mean, I still love a good soliflore once in a while but I just don't want to wear them all the time.

You got me thinking about complexity in perfumes, and I wanted to share a few thoughts about it. To me, a complex perfume does not necessarily mean it always has to change a ton through its evolution after being applied on the skin. Rather, with some complex perfumes I sense depth, rather than actively smelling all the notes. It's kind of like an intricate pattern that has several components, but you don't notice the components as much because of skillful blending. However, the final product reveals its complexity in layers, intricacy of composition and a certain subtle richness and depth that we can sense. By comparison, non-complex compositions can feel rather flat and not nuanced. Anyway, I am kind of rambling on about my thoughts regarding complex perfumes, and don't want to keep rambling for a few more paragraphs, LOL, so I will wrap it up here.

that's a wonderful way of describing complexity. I find that I enjoy the discovery process of the perfume as it wears on my skin throughout the day. little surprises here and there, or anticipation of a scent that I know will come forward in hour 2.... I'm a sucker for dark depths. Carnal Flower is something I shouldn't love (I'm not a huge tuberose fan in perfume as it often makes me nauseous, literally) but it is balanced so perfectly in CF. The green notes hold it back a bit, and then the depth comes into play -- earthiness? green stems close to the ground? It's like smelling the whole entire flower as it exists in nature (which I actually love). I am astounded by the composition of that scent; it plays like a song.
