I have limited experience with this house, but I definitely know that I was not at all impressed enough by the ones I've smelled to feel like I would ever want to buy any of them without having extensively sampled them first. They didn't seem like anything special. I DEFINITELY wouldn't pay full retail for them, either, as they're available at discounters.

If you haven't smelled them, then what is even drawing you to them in the first place?
The description, i.e., the combo of ingredients. In Europe, they´re not a brand easily found at a discounter, BTW :-)

Do you mean the actual ingredients or just the notes listed by the brand? Be careful of confusing the notes a brand lists for ingredients. They are not at all the same. The notes are just ideas of what you might experience in a fragrance and are not at all indicative of actual ingredients. Case in point: Frederic Malle lists musk as a note for Musc Ravageur, but the perfume doesn't actually contain any musk. You'll see many, many people at places like Fragrantica talk about how much musk they smell in it, while others say they don't get any muskiness at all. According to the perfumer who created it, there is literally zero musk in the perfume.

One of Frederic Malle's perfumes even contains the word "rose" in the name, but it doesn't have any rose in it.

Buying a perfume based simply on the notes listed by a brand can be dangerous because you might expect something very different than what you actually experience with the fragrance.

completely right
I have my experience with Fueguia 1833, Fragrantica offers old notes and some scents have been completely reformulated.
About ingredients, for example, rose, but you never know how much rose oil was used, a drop or spoonful.

About reviews as well
How much fake is on the market. People write reviews and they are not aware that they bought fake.

People are also just stupid. I don't know how many times I've read from people there about Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade and Nouveau Monde being rose-ouds, but neither of them has any rose in them. Especially in the case of Nouveau Monde, I have no idea how someone who actually knows what rose smells like on its own thinks there is any rose in Nouveau Monde.

the funniest thing is as they describe a scent in detail, mentioning all notes from Fragrantica, first this then that and finally this and that,,,,, one should have a very sensitive/trained nose to distinguish all ingredients in the scent

Is anyone here a gardener as well as a perfume junkie? I am, and my favorite roses were created in the UK by David Austin. Big, lush cabbage like blooms full of fragrance. My 2 favorites are Abraham Darby and Bianca. So I went to the local nursery and was hooked. A few years back the woman in charge of Chantecaille loved Abraham Darby as well, and created the Darby Rose fragrance. What a disappointent! Sweet and cloying, nothing like the real rose at all. The real roses fragrance draws you in and lures you back for another whiff. To me it is absolutely divine.

thank you for this message, I read about the Darby Rose fragrance, ranked highly, was eager to purchase her blindly, as it was impossible to sniff the scent in my country. You saved my pennies
No problem, I ordered a sample to try from some website in a rollerball. I tried it before I posted and stand by it. Can you grow roses?

Agree, I've had some unpleasant surprises with online perfume purchases.
Which one of the FM's perfumes has 'rose' only in the name?
I was finally able to get "Une Rose" (the travel spray is out of stock almost everywhere). I love it, but I think I prefer the MFK- A la Rose. I need to alternate both perfumes for a few days to confirm.
I'm now curious about "Lipstick Rose" and "Rose & Cuir."

I usually order my perfumes from NM or BG, but I have been very tempted to order from online sites that sell samples. Does anyone have info on decant/sample sites that could share here? I'm afraid that perfumes might be fake or diluted.

I came across The Fragrance Decant Boutique & FragranceNet, does anyone know if these are reliable sites for samples?

When I lived in Holland, I had an orchard and roses were my favourite.

I want to add another 2 rose-y scents to my top 3.
Rose 1845 by L Douvos. a self assured modern lady, who knows how to get what she wants
La Rose Jacqueminot by Coty. old school, classy, l'art en vivre a France

I get samples from Luckyscent, but my last order was lost and they promised to replace it.
I usually order a discovery kit from the same brand, the service is quick and reliable. My last order was from SCENTSPLIT. I was pleased with them.
I also order from perfume multibrandstores, they are ok as well.

Thanks. I also order from stores that sell multiple brands. The discovery kits are very helpful, but not all perfumes are included on them. I like to buy the travel size when available, as it is the perfect size to test a perfume imo.

I am very tempted to try the online sites that sell 5 & 10 ml samples for perfumes I can't get the travel size from Neiman Marcus or Saks… I came across The Fragrance Decant Boutique & FragranceNet, but I'm afraid I'll not get the genuine products. So I appreciate all the advice.
