To those of you who remember the old Shalimar, in the 70's/80's , do you think it's still the same or has it changed? I used to wear it back then but haven't used it anymore for decades: I tried it on yesterday and found it very different, after quite a while I started recognizing the smell I remembered, but not straight away.....

I've worn Shalimar for donkey's years, the most accurate modern interpretation is the extrait. Even that's not quite as leathery as it used to be but to my nose, extrait is the best way to go. The modern EDT and EDP pale in comparison to how they used to be.

Does anyone have any experience with either Prada Infusion de Vanilla or VCA Orchidee Vanille? I am looking for a vanilla perfume that I can wear day & night that actually projects and lasts, but having trouble! Open to suggestions too.

I have the VCA Orchidee Vanille and it is my absolute favorite. It lasts all day on me.

A little update on my hunt for a long-lasting vanilla.... I purchased Mancera's Amore Caffe and have been wearing it today.

It opens with a burst of strong coffee, think of the smell as you start to pull a shot of espresso. It then follows with a bright burst of vanilla, with a lingering floral in the background. After an hour or so, the coffee note fades into the background after a couple of hours and I'm left smelling like a beautiful slightly floral vanilla. The scent remains STRONG throughout the day, and I've left a gorgeous scent trail wherever I have been. Currently, I smell like strong vanilla ice cream and very light summer flowers.

Super impressed and this is going to become my go-to perfume for when I want to smell like vanilla (which is most days lol).

Love coffee notes so a coffee and vanilla mix sounds wonderful!
