I haven't tried Drole de Rose, but I'm eyeing a bottle on mercari right now. I haven't tried any of the others you mentioned. Not sure how similar it is to L'eau d'Ambre, but I do have a sample of Amber Extreme. I tried to wear it a couple of days ago and I had to wash it off. The drydown was 100% incense on me.I don't know what is up, but my nose or my chemistry or something has changed the last few years. Maybe it's because I'm getting older. I used to love incense. I even had a hard time wearing my vintage Jicky the other day :crybaby: I've used Jicky off and on for 20 years!
I haven't tried Amber Extreme, but L'eau d'Ambre is a soft, cozy amber on me. I wear it on days when I want something cozy and comforting. When I want a richer amber scent, I wear Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan.
Sorry to hear about Jicky. In addition to age, I think other factors like weather or perhaps even diet affect our reaction to fragrances. Maybe just put it away and try after a few months. I've also found that dabbing a small bit versus spraying from a big spray bottle improves my tolerance/ability to wear challenging notes that might be too intense when sprayed.
Where/how do you sell your unused perfumes? I tried listing on eBay but being in Europe with shipping + selling fees makes it too costly..
Some online perfume groups and forums have sell or swap options. You could check those out. I haven't used any of them though, so not sure how they work. Good luck!

I have finished testing my first sample bunch I got from Paris.

Laboratorio Olfactivo
Vanhera- vanilla and inсense, pass

Mandarino, nice, lots wows in media, but not wearable alone- maybe laying?

Vanagloria -wow. I would pass this perfume as I don't like incense scents but I saw it on the top list of my favourite perfume observer, was intrigued. Natural, high quality vanilla and slender incense, I need more than a sample.

Puredistance 12-- hipe and isn't worth her price, nothing special on my skin

Eris Ma bete--- very complicated scent, well made and deserves more attention

Ex Indolo
33---- Montale Black Aoud dupe
Ryder--a promising start with sad and boring ending

Plume Impression
a new hype as something special but I didn't like at all. I find its hire ranking on Fragrantica exaggerating.

Art Nouveau. chemical flowers,
Elegance Cuiree---nothing special, starts with leather and ends with vanilla on my skin,

Sous Le Manteau

Essence du Serail---- a scent for Carmen or a woman a la Carmen, too much flowers, a little bit vulgar,

Les Indemodables
Rose de Jamal----- I love roses in scents and this perfume was mentioned as good and beautiful , worth attention. Yes, beautiful but unwearable when it is cold outside. The scent is for a spring-summer period. I will sniff it later again.

Thanks for all the information about those scents.

I find I don't usually agree with the popularity of a fragrance on Fragrantica. :shrugs:

Good to know! I keep hearing praise about this but haven't bought it because I've never smelt it. What did you not like if I may ask?
Hi @purseinsanity
I'm not sure if we are supposed to chat on the other thread, so I'm responding here.
Yeah! Baccarat Rouge 540 receives a lot of praise and I hoped to love it, but I can't stand its smell. It's not one of those scents that I can’t stop sniffing. It's better you try before you buy it. From MFK, I like Amyris and A La Rose. Oud is also nice, but not a favorite.

I have been wearing MFK A la rose, and I love its scent. However, it doesn't last long. I usually get comments on perfumes I wear, but I never got a single comment on A la rose. It looks like it's totally unnoticeable. Has anyone had the same experience?

I mean, I don't wear perfume to be noticed by others.

Also, I understand that the vast majority of the time, people will not bother to comment either way about a perfume when they notice someone wearing one.

Thanks for your thoughtful post. I meant comments from family members, including a few complains. For example, FM-Portrait of a Lady, which I like, generates remarks like 'Oh gosh, it's too strong'.

However, I am surprised that I didn't get a single comment for MFK-A la rose. I'm under the impression that this perfume wears off very fast. I almost cant't smell it shortly after its application. So I'm just curious if others are having the same experience (it wears off pretty quickly) with this perfume.

I usually prefer if I can smell my perfume for at least five to six hours after I have sprayed it on. Some last longer but get fainter as time goes by. If you are not smelling it shortly after application, it could either be anosmia to something in the scent, or perhaps the scent is just very light, requiring re-application after a few hours. I have a purse spray of this perfume but it has been a while since I wore it. I recall it being a fresh pink rose soliflore with a hint of green. If memory serves correctly, it was not exactly a powerhouse, but it wasn't fleeting either. I will test it soon and share my impressions.

Thanks and I look forward to getting your impressions on it. I also prefer perfumes I can smell for a few hours after spraying them.
The fact that none of my family members had a single comment about it, and they usually do, supports that the sent is weak and/or wears off very quick. It's a beautiful scent though.

I’ve been trying flankers of popular crowd pleasing designer fragrances and here’s a review if anyone is interested:

YSL Black Opium: bought Nuit Blanche (discontinued creamy version of original) and Neon (tropical fruity version).

La Nuit tresor: bought Nude (coconut tropical version), tried the new Intense (nothing new)

La vie est belle: bought Soleil (coconut summer version) & Intensement (beautiful berry almond vanilla), tried Eclat (too citrusy toned down).

Also getting a new decant from an online swap: Xerjoff Italica (secretly hoping I won’t like it because I can’t afford another addition!!) and a full bottle swap: Mancera Roses Vanille (already loved this from a sample).

I sprayed on A la Rose this morning and used two sprays from my travel spray. For the first couple of hours, I got soft whiffs of it off and on, as I went about my tasks. It's a pretty soliflore rose scent. After about the three-hour mark, I could no longer smell it unless I put my nose to my wrist, where I had sprayed it. Overall, I would say it's a fragrance that stays close to the skin and does not project much. I would need to re-apply after about three hours if I still want to smell the fragrance without having to put my nose to my wrist.

I have heard that some fragrances last longer on clothes, so you might want to try spraying your clothes to see if that helps. I will sometimes spray perfume on clothes, especially loungewear, but you have to be careful since some perfume oils can stain clothes. Also, try applying a fragrance free lotion before spraying on skin since I have heard that it might help at least with longevity; not sure if it will assist much with projection or sillage though. Have you tried Une Rose by Frederic Malle? It's a beautiful rose fragrance with excellent projection and longevity.

:goodpost:Thank you so much! I didn't try FM- Une Rose yet, but I want to. For the rose scent, I've also used Atelier Cologne-Rose Anonyme. I got a little tired of it, but used it for a few years. I still have an unopened bottle… I'm also curious about Tom Ford Rose Prick. I may be repeating myself, but I love a good perfume!!! Your post was very helpful.

Edit: I just ordered FM- Une Rose.

You're welcome! :flowers: I haven't tried the Atelier or the Tom Ford fragrance.
I have been trying to decide on a rose fragrance from my collection for this evening, but still undecided. Maybe Fleurs de Bulgarie by Creed which I haven't worn in a while (gets quite soapy in the drydown), or there's a few others, but not sure yet. Maybe I will open my set of samples from Ormonde Jayne and see if there's a rose fragrance in the sampler pack. Can one have enough rose fragrances? I am always interested in exploring new rose scents!

Edit: Did you order a sample? Always good to try out with a sample first to make sure you will like it. The nice thing about Frederic Malle perfumes is that they offer discovery sets and also a range of sizes including a travel spray so you can test thoroughly before getting a full bottle. Let us know your thoughts about Une Rose once you have had the chance to try it.

I would like to try Fleur de The Rose Bulgare, but it seems to be sold out. I need to be very careful with Creed perfumes as they can give me headaches. For example, I can't stand Aventus for her. I must try them at least a couple of times before buying (they are not cheap). From Creed, I like Love in Black, Princess Oud, Love in White, and Millesime Imperial so far.

To answer your question about FM- Une Rose, I ordered the travel size from NM, and it's backordered. :girlshocked:

Found House of Sillage Cherry Garden for a great price on Poshmark, and got it! :happydance:
