Hello, and welcome! I love some of the ones you mentioned -- Une Fleur de Cassie, Carnal Flower and Portrait of a Lady. I also enjoy Lys Mediterranee (lilies with a hint of ocean breeze) and L'Eau d'Hiver (soft and dreamy, with heliotrope).

I have not tried either Promise or The Moon. Both of them are from the Desert Gems collection. Good luck with sampling and keep us posted should you end up trying those fragrances.

@Cams, I had Tresor body lotion and it was simply wonderful, smelled lovely and was pretty potent for a lotion -- the scent lingered for days on clothing like scarves and sweaters.
So true I tried to find again I just haven’t seen around. I looked at Nordstrom and many other places I would love to have one again.

A few years ago, they used to sell the jar of Tresor body cream on the Lancome website but I do not see it there anymore. I do see that they have a giftset of Tresor perfume with the body lotion included. Usually, the holidays are a great time to find giftsets with shower gel and lotion included. Perhaps you can check the Lancome website and order it from there. Macys also has the giftset with the body lotion. It's called the Tresor Inspirations Set. Good luck!

Thank you so much I will for sure look on the Lancôme website.

Here for this! Perfume might be the one thing I love more than bags. I haven't been able to wear perfume for almost a decade due to living with someone with COPD, but have just started wearing it again recently. I forgot how much I loved so many scents, and how it can change my mood for the whole day. Happy to find this thread, because even though it has been fun to pull out my old fragrances, I really want to try some new things.

There are quite a few Serge Lutens I love...A la Nuit, Sarassins, Rose de Nuit, Tubereuse Criminelle, Muscs Kublai Khan, Chergui...I could go on. The jasmines are my favorite. One that has changed over time for me is Arabie. I used to strongly dislike it, but since I have none of the ones I love atm, I tried some of a tiny bottle of Arabie I've had for so many years. I really love it now! It was a perfect spicy-sweet scent for fall.

I've also pulled out an old Chanel coffret that's been in my closet since who-knows-when. Maybe it's just me, but
I find myself preferring the newer over the classics, Allure Sensuelle being the most used from those lately. I love Coco Madamoiselle for about the first hour or two, but my head usually regrets putting it on about halfway through the day. Part of me wants to like patchouli so badly, but 99% of the time it gives me a major headache. I have a tiny bit of Gardenia left that I'm just going to hoard for now. Sometime in the near future I hope to acquire some Cuir de Russie(leather is my second love, right behind jasmine) and 31 Rue Cambon. And maybe Bois des Iles. Now that I've got my mind on this, I'm remembering so many things I love!

Guerlains...Mitsouko, Jicky(I've
been hoarding Jicky for years lol, it smells so clean.)

L'Artisan Dzing. It's about the most fun smelling perfume, if a perfume can be considered fun. And leather. Mmmm.

I could go on and on, but I will definitely be here more often. Can't wait to read through this entire thread!

Welcome! So happy to have you on the Tread with us! I'm impressed with your perfume selections and knowledge.

I am so happy to be here. Ive always loved perfume, but I live in east TN where I only had Belk to shop. I was able to try a very limited selection of Chanels, Guerlains, and similar brands(they have since even removed our Chanel counter!) They never had the better scents like Bois des Iles or Gardenia...the only Guerlains available there were Shalimar and Samsara. When I discovered online decants in my 20s an entire world opened up. I tried everything I could, especially things I would ever find around here. Then I found a lady from Paris on ebay that would go to Palais Royal and buy the Lutens bell jars I couldn't buy here for a fee of like $20. That was a deep, dark rabbit hole for sure. It was all over from there

I can't wait to see what's happened over the last 10 years or so, I haven't kept up with anything!

I also have a fairly limited selection available, so decants are my only way to try a lot of the fragrances.

Hello, and welcome! I enjoyed reading through your post, and look forward to hearing more of your impressions as you rediscover old perfume favorites and explore new ones. I have a few Serge Lutens scents, and my favorites this year have been Un Lys and Borneo 1834. As for patchouli, it did not rank as my preferred note for a while, but I have come to love a few scents with patchouli -- Chanel Coromandel, Borneo 1834 and also Portrait of a Lady.

Leather is a note I have explored off and on, and I actually found that I enjoy vintage leather compositions like Miss Balmain and Gres Cabochard. There was a great discussion on leather a few pages back in this thread. Chanel Cuir de Russie is on my wish list. Maybe I will get it next year.

Another Allure Sensuelle fan! It’s one of my favorites, and hard to find (at least where I live). And Coco does the same thing to me. After about an hour I have to wash it off because it gives me a headache. I’m not sure what it is. I love the opening but the middle and bottom notes don’t seem to agree with me.

love some of your picks! Wanted to suggest Feminite de Bois (the original one by Sheseido) probably available now by decant.

Hi @Kimbashop, if you want a well blended, balanced rose Perfume, FM Une Rose. I think of Une Rose as the white burgundy of rose fragrances, and I swear I can almost taste a wine accord in there. For a darker rose, I love POAL, but also wear Amouage Lyric Man; the original (now vintage) Voleurs des Roses, and vintage (perhaps available by decant) larte di gucci EDP

apologies for my spelling which has gotten even worse since covid.

Thank you for those recommendations! Une rose sounds like something I would love—as I love rose and white burgundy is one of my favorite wines. I will seek out the others you suggest. I tried some Amouage scents last month while out of town. I’ll have to order samples given where I live *sigh*.

Thank you for the suggestion! I went looking for Feminite du Bois original by Shiseido this evening (such a unique bottle), but wow, there are not many of them. Will also check out the decant places. Seems like there's more of the newer Lutens versions around though. L' Arte di Gucci is on my watch list too, lol.
I know what you mean about spelling getting worse since covid. I think I have also gotten more absent minded over the last year or so...

@mariliz11, welcome and enjoy! What are your favorite scents? As you've probably already discovered, perfume collecting can be quite mesmerizing...
