Do you have any personal insights from yours you’d like to share ? Have you just had the most positive experience at every boutique you’ve been to ? I’d love to hear
Honestly, a positive attitude and a willingness to look around a boutique at what IS available helps. If any brand representative (SA, SM, or boutique) treated me poorly, I wouldn’t want anything there. I would feel upset if I gave them my money. There are a million other brands, and many of them, particularly bespoke, ARE better quality.

If you would rather hear the negative, I was so nervous before my first bag appt, that I said I was too stressed to go, annd I felt they would not be as friendly bc I don’t speak French and I wasn’t sure what to ask for. I had never been to FSH before. So, I get where people are coming from. DH was like, nope. I got you this appt, and we’re going. In Milan, they asked me to wait until they could find an Asian SA, even though it was clear I was from NY. When I was just out of college, at a little boutique called Suzanne, on Newbury St. in Boston, the manager said I was too young (she also thought I didn’t have any money) and basically ushered me out of the store. So, I went to Guy Laroche and bought two suits that I still have. But, I don’t hate an entire city bc i cannot get a luxury item.

ETA: anyone on this thread, on this forum, regardless of success or failure in getting a bag, is very privileged.

It is logical to hate Hermes and not locations , but that doesn’t make my experience with Hermes in Paris not validated to hate Paris . The whole trip there was a waste of time regarding why I even went there in the first place , to shop . To secure a handbag that I cannot receive in the states . Also , other handbags I cannot get in the states . I’ve already done the sights and all of the other crap you go to cities for . I loved Paris before and now I hate it because of my most recent experience. It wasn’t solely because of Hermes ( which is the biggest part of why I hate the city now ) . Didn’t you read any other peoples most recent posts with their “ wonderful “ success stories . I appreciate the people who have posted their sadness and unsatisfactory experiences more. The system is BROKEN and not fair .

I plan on continuing with my fabulous attitude towards the brand at my local store and I will see what happens , so thank you for your well wishes and wonderful insights to MY “ Hermes Journey “ .

I'm sorry everyone on here is being passive aggressive and mean toward you. This is a forum where you can share your thoughts and feelings. Everyone else on here thinks they are the great Hermes gatekeepers. I totally understand how you feel and you are validated in sharing.

Really? Everyone? Explaining how some of us got bags and commiserating with others is not gatekeeping
Bashing a brand or a city in their entirety seems a bit extreme bc of bag disappointment

Paris is based on luck. @CF is welcome to build a local relationship with requisite spend multiples; buy a reseller bag that accounts for some multiple; or, find a bargain fixer upper, if she hasn’t gotten lucky with lottery. IMO, no one should shop
boutique at all unless they love boutique merchandise. Cannot see how that POV is gatekeeping. Hermes is a business,
not a wish fulfillment zone. I am fond of my SAs, but there is no H fairy

ETA: I buy boutique and I buy vintage. I find it insulting to vintage bags that they are basically being called garbage
There are some beautiful bags out there that simply require a bit of TLC. If someone doesnt want to spend as the market demands, there are other choices., some in Paris, like Collectors Sq.

Thank you @BreezyE . I really appreciate you saying these words and apologizing for everyone’s responses . This is a forum where we should be able to talk about our frustrations and our excitement’s. I’m simply talking about how my experience has been in Paris and it wasn’t a good one unfortunately. I understand and hear EVERYONE . I shouldn’t hate a whole city for my experience at one retailer . I have just been wanting a Birkin for YEARS AND YEARS and it seems like it’s never going to happen . I have looked at resellers as others have stated but for a fresh from the boutique Birkin ( which is what I want ) are $30,000 . Others that are less expensive are all worn out , stretched out handles , crumpled sides , all the things I want to happen from MY using it , not someone else . I’m not willing to pay a premium for something used and abused by someone else and that is 5,10,20 years old . Everyone on this forum is privileged to even be walking into such special boutiques and I have ALWAYS walked in with a smile on my face and kindness for SA’s since I know how hard it is to tell people they don’t have anything that you want . I understand THEIR frustration as well . I have always been so nice and met with utter distain by so many SA’s who have been so rude to my husband and I . I also take very good care of myself and walk in looking stylish and clean and nice . Everyone has a journey and I’ve only been sharing my experiences with the boutiques which haven’t been great .

I also understand there are more failures at the lottery system than wins. It’s just not fair at all .

Thank you so much for validating my feelings . I really appreciate you more than you know . People on here really do think they are the great gate keepers of Hermes .

I think just enjoy Paris and we must remember how many people want a bag. Sometimes there’s no stock available and either way if it’s not your time it isn’t. My second appointment this year and I got a Birkin 30 Noir GHW. Last time I had a horrible experience but today I had a great one.
Yay! Glad to hear you had a great experience. Congrats and feel free to share pics if you’re comfortable!

What makes someone lucky to “win” a bag at a store that you have to pay for ? People can bash whatever cities they want for whatever reasons they want . Even bag disappointment .

I have tried building a relationship with my local store which I’ve mentioned is very competitive . It’s NOT just the lottery system , or the city . It’s the rudeness of SA’s and the “we have to invite you to spend $10,000” it’s ridiculous.

Wow I don’t want to judge but I think saying everyone is a bit too much?

I am by no means being passive aggressive, but truly showing @C.F. that you reap what you sow. What does anyone expect when all you do is project hate and entitlement? We have suggested to Cory Fabulous aka C.F. In the SCP/BH thread and now Paris what she needs to do but she is intent on continuing to HATE Hermes and now Paris because they won’t sell her a bag. Really, wow. So much hate because she cannot get a bag. Ludicrous.

Just don’t bother with the brand because you sound very stressed and it seems toxic for your mental health. Hermes is know for different tactics so either you play the game or take your money elsewhere. Both options are fine and for you I’d say the second one is best. I hope you have a moment to think

How did you get your first Birkin , I’d love to hear that experience . You just “simply asked “ I’m sure . Spent 10,s of thousands of dollars on stuff and it just magically fell on your lap ?

I’ve met @haute okole ’s SA who genuinely has a great rapport with her. And, they developed that rapport through shopping together, Bc Hermes is a retail establishment. She does buy beautiful things, but she would buy them anyway and does, even without a bag. SAs can tell the difference.

I also know she didn’t ask for her bags. They were offered whenever her SA saw one he thought she would like.

No one, not even @haute okole, is entitled to a bag, even with prespend on other items. No quid pro quo. You aren’t actually owed anything except for the items you have bought and paid for already.

I did not ask, I don’t have a wishlist and never have. However, I spend quite a bit on RTW and they asked me if I wanted a bag and I said OK. They wanted to keep me as a client and always offer me bags every time I am invited to the boutique, but not Paris. I have not obtained bags at Paris but have had very lovely experiences in Paris the last few times I have been there because I am a RTW client.
