Birkin11,

Apologies if I made you feel bad or uncomfortable in anyway as that was not my intent at all. I had mentioned resale, if you review the posts you will find several instances of TPF getting a bag in Paris and then reselling the bag for double saying that it was not the right specs.

I was not accusing you of this but rather trying to express my empathy for the questions that you have and I specifically stated that I thought you might be experiencing some of the same feelings as I did when I got my first bag. I do not think I was being hostile in anyway but really just discussing handbags.

I thought I might be a good person to answer as I too am tall 5'10 and I love large bags. My favourite is the LV Neverfull GM which I still use to protect my Hermes bags when carrying them on flights. I travel back and forth to work with a LV Pilot Case (that has a strap)- exceptionally heavy but only went from Car to Office to Home. I should also mention that I was offered a B35 if I wanted it from a relative. I had the opportunity to carry this back and forth to the office for a couple of months. When I loaded it with all the stuff that I carry in the Pilot Case it was simply not practical as I could not carry the weight in my hand- I second Jane Birkin's option on the B35.

That being said the weight all depends upon what you put into the bag. I have a tendency to keep accumulating stuff in my bag if I have the room. Thus the B35 is not for me- because I will just use the space to haul unnecessary things and hurt my back in the process. I should also point out age is an important factor- in my twenty and thirties it would not be a problem. At 40 big bags start to be very unattractive because of the weight. What works for one PF may not work for you because of a variety of factors such as age, how much you put in your bag, will you carry it all day, do you drive or use public transit- lots of factors.

I will leave it at that and again please accept my apologies for any unintentional slight or perceived attack as this was not my intention in any way.
Hey- thanks for the clarification. It was more of the collection of the chat the past half day . I think it got very intense when I said I didn’t claim customs almost as if people were personally offended even when I explained I don’t even owe it- but that wasn’t good enough- then it was messages about how I should show it anyway- it didn’t feel like a purse forum anymore- all because I answered a question to another person asking if I had a problem. Then I asked how others felt about the B35 and the first reply was “well why’d you buy it then?” That was aggressive for no reason. Not so much you.

FSH is calm this week relative to when I was here in June. I would say the store is only 30-50% packed compared to summer. My hotel is 5 min away, so I walk by (and in?) almost everyday. My poor husband is such a sport. He even tried to ask for a cancellation for me, with a very friendly “no”. It’s the thought that counts.

But I did get very lucky that I was able to get my #1 choice bag (not bkc) when I bought a small item. I wasn’t expecting it, and the SA was very kind and helpful. She asked a few times what else I wanted, except bags. So I mentioned I would go ask for cancellations after we complete our transaction. She offered to ask for me, which I really appreciated. She then asked me what I wanted, checked her phone, and went to get permissions. She took care of everything. It was a very friendly experience.

Walking around on second floor, I saw GP, picotin, grey Kelly, etoupe Constance and pink Birkin being offered. I didn’t see many people approaching the leather desk on 1st floor. A lot of SAs ready to help in shoes department. I do have to say some SAs give off more helpful vibes- so I guess it is a bit of luck and chemistry.

And for reference, I had some after-service work done. The service department is tucked all the way to the back of fine jewelry on 2nd floor. Battery change is 50 euro, belt hole addition also done there. Drinks were served while we waited. Wonderful service, about 15 min for battery change.

All in all, very pleased with everything so far. But we are here for a few more days, maybe we will get a lottery appointment? Wish me luck! Thanks for reading- I know you ladies/gents will understand.

… because I still love it and I applied for 2 months everyday for that appointment + the SA said she picked it out specially for me based on what we discussed. Have you bought one? If you have then you might know that the first time you’re really excited and you don’t go through every scenario in the world such as “can I wear this bag to dinner and the ballet as well as the office?” I don’t get your question? There are tons of blog posts comparing birkin sizes. It’s pretty normal. Do you have a B35? If so what do you think after a day holding it?
Hi,

Sorry, i didn't get to reply yesterday as I was already gone to sleep.
I love the look of a 35 or 30 Birkin. But I can't carry these bags because of shoulder problems. I have to take anti-inflammatory medicine and put ice on my shoulder. So I only carry shoulder or cross body bags like Evelyne, Constance, Kelly, 2.55, Delvaux.
I think of the Birkin as a day tote certainly not an evening bag. Hope that helps. Have a lovely day :flowers:

Thanks for the update! Congrats on your score! I had to go to after service as well and agree that the little area is very bright and the people were nice and service was fast. I could’ve sworn I saw a rabbit back there in the little garden lol

I was in Paris last August. Visited the store with my little girls a couple times (very well behaved and always get attention for their cuteness)… i felt it didnt help at all. I received a walk in appointment on the day I was on my own. I purchased items every time I visited except for the day I got the walk in… i think my
Mindset that day was different. I had zero expectations and probably didnt give off desperate vibes
Did you score a bag on your walk-in? Thank you for sharing your experience!

I was at Sevres yesterday looking for homeware. None of what I was after was in stock. I browsed shoes and sizes seemed pretty scant on almost all styles. I heard a SA tell a woman that someone had bought 3 sizes in a particular shoe the day prior and that they often only bring in one pair in certain sizes. I thought it odd H wouldn’t have flagged the woman as a reseller. SLGs were also pretty limited. A couple silk-in wallets, slim Constance wallets.. Someone was being shown a beautiful Kelly 32 in Vert de Gris and a Birkin 30 out in the open.

Final Updates:

I was in paris for 10 days and have tried my luck for an appointment every single day. I tried asking for cancellation about 4 times, yesterday was my last chance so i went in the morning and the lady told me to come at around 3 pm and try again.

Went back at around 2:45 and she told me she can offer me and appointment but all QBs are sold out LOL. I said its fine as i was looking for a bag for my friend as well a roulis and i might just be lucky.

I waited for around 15 mins, had a female SA which i’m sure hated me she wanted the appointment to finish and i felt so awkward.

I gave her the longest wishlist she could every imagine of non QBs i always forget to ask for these bags when im offered a QB so i said thats my chance. She ended up coming with two boxes a roulis in ostrich for my friend and mini lindy. I loved the colour of the mini lindy and decided to buy it for my mum.

Here are the pictures of the bags as well as the kelly to go i was offered few days ago.
There was also a fire alarm while i was at store and everyone was rushed out, hopefully everyone was safe.

Very pretty options, all of them! Was this at FSH or Sevres?

I know some people have already posted about this, but I just wanted to add that my SA in the US just told me today that they got an update on their phones and they can now see if you buy a quota bag in Paris. She said they can't see all the purchases, just if there was a quota bag purchase. So I guess it's linked now.
This happened sometime last year. And the quota bag you get in France counts towards your quota in the US is what I was told.
