Thank you so so much for this. We will be in Paris next week (our luck!) Does anyone know if Uber rides get affected by this as well? And it’s official the chances of scoring a bag during that week is close to non-existent. The upside is the chances of scoring an online appointment will improve since not a lot will be applying or better yet a walk-in appointment may be granted due to appointment cancellations. Egad!

Thanks a lot for posting and wish none of us will be affected. Stuck in the 1-4 Celsius weather won’t be fun!

good luck for all!
Fingers crossed for all of you heading to Paris soon. Hopefully it won’t be as bad and as long as expected!

No bags is worth risking your personal safety. Just be extra careful, especially around St Honore/Champs Elyssee. Last time George V even closed the entire store due to the riots that lasted for days! Uber won’t be operating most of the time. Watch out for those “Taxi drivers” that will try to make extra €€€ out of this horrible situation.
Ahhh I’m flying out of Paris on 7th Dec I really hope it won’t cancel as I’m home sick and want to get home soon ((

Thanks for sharing I’ll keep monitoring and hope there’s no delay
Definitely keep in touch with your Airlines. Maybe you could call them few days in advance to make sure yr flight is going that day.

When I was in Paris this February, I met demonstrations twice. At the first time, we used “Kapten” app to pick us up at Paris Nord Station. Due to the demonstration, many roads were blocked. The driver took much more time to get us and to the place we stayed.

If you have plans to shop at FSH, I strongly suggest you to stay near FSH, so you don’t have to worry how to get there. From my last experience, this section was blocked by police and well-protected. Although we heard the sounds of explosions and shouting from riots, it was still safe in the blocked area.

The following picture shows the place where was blocked when we encountered yellow vest protests in the February. This was just the area we have been to so I’m not sured how big the blocked area actually was.

Inside this area, stores and restaurants were still open. People could freely walked inside this area.

However, the demonstration is bigger this time. Please check if shops and restaurants will open or not. Stay safe, my dear tpfers.:flowers:

Hi! I just wanted to share my experience at FSH. I know this particular thread is mainly about getting bags but I went to Paris with no intention of buying bags as I already get the bags and SOs I need from my local SA. I went twice to FSH both times were amazing experiences. I know some people have not had great experiences on the bag purchasing side, however, if you’re going to purchase other items there, I can’t emphasize enough how great the customer service was. Upon entering both times we were greeted immediately and directed to the right area of the store where I was looking to buy items (jewelry, shoes, SLGs). On the first day, I was looking for a simple rose gold ring, they didn’t have my size so the SA gave me his card with his number and email and said he would contact me the next day when he got the ring transferred from the Sevres store. On the second day, he texted right at 11am saying the item had transferred. We went into the store in the afternoon and worked with him and another SA for other items. Both were very courteous and bent over backwards to help. During both those visits, I was there for over an hour, my husband and three kids just parked on a sofa in the shoe department and hung out playing on their phones. Multiple SAs constantly offered them drinks. Because of this, my three year old daughter even had an “accident” on the floor of Hermes (consequences of drinking so much orange juice from the kind SAs)....it was the most embarrassing thing EVER but the SA was so kind and unfazed. None of us were wearing designer items and looked like total tourist. We also were not buying big ticket items. So I just wanted to share my great experience as a non-bag shopper.

Hey Hermes friends! I've read about 200 pages of posts in this thread over the past week (oh my god...), but had a couple questions I didn't see answers to and was hoping you might be able to shed some light. :)

1. I'll be in Paris in mid-January and will try to get a K or B at FSH. I have no purchase history at any Hermes store, but I'm interested in buying a few things, like some jewelry and maybe a scarf or shoes. Do you recommend I buy this at FSH BEFORE my appointment (assuming I get one) or on the day of the appointment? Alternatively, do you recommend I buy these items at the George V store instead? From what I've read, it seems easier to score a bag from FSH with no spend history, but George V pretty much requires that you buy something first, which is why I was thinking I could buy my miscellaneous items at GV in case I'm unable to score an appointment or bag from FSH (that way, I'll have some purchase history at George V, which may help with getting a bag). Hopefully that makes sense!

2. It seems a lot of people apply for an appointment before arriving in Paris. I arrive in Paris on a Monday afternoon and leave Paris the following Monday morning. So, I'd basically have Tues-Sat to be present at an appointment. I'm worried that I'll apply for an appointment before I leave and magically get the appointment on my first try (esp because I'm going during an off-season time). I do also know that most people have 4-5 appointment attempts before actually being granted one. Do you think I should apply for an appointment before I leave (knowing that I wouldn't be able to make it if I received the appt) or should I wait until I'd be able to go to the appointment, should they accept it?

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Really appreciate the help. :) I've loved reading all of your stories and have learned a TON from all of you.

Hi! Based on my own personal experience, my suggestion would be to make your purchases prior to requesting an appointment, if possible. The appointment system is random however, I still think that there could be some connection to having a purchase history. I've never asked for a bag at George V, so I can't advise you on which store to make these purchases, but I FSH does tend to have more stock, in general. You can definitely request an appointment before you leave, but be prepared to get the appointment on the first try- that exact scenario happened to me this summer. I couldn't make the appointment so I tried to "reschedule" it and I wasn't successful at doing so. It was a busy time so I"m sure that's why they couldn't accommodate me. A friend of mine had a similar experience and she called the store and told them her situation, they told her not to worry and to come in when she arrives and they would accommodate her (which they did).

Hope this helps! Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I'd echo recent sentiments here. I tried all week for an appt, no go.

Queued up at the sevres store. The line was two blocks long 45min before store opening. People standing in the rain.

Once in, of course didn't get an appt. And indeed, I saw customers behaving so obsequiously to the sales associates, that my jaw dropped!! They must be used to it by now, so it can't be just about be about being polite to the SA to get the bag. I was also shocked at how poor the stock was at sevres and FSH for non-bag items.

I have a way better experience in my home city (London) than paris. I think paris is used to tourists so they just swat us away like flies.

I dunno. The bags are beautiful but not sure it's worth our dignity ..
You make some reasonable points. Nevertheless, having been thru the FSH experience recently, I think it resembles childbirth: You forget all the pain when the baby comes.
