I would send him alone. I’ve heard they are more likely to sell to men. I can’t say this from personal experience, but I’ve read it several times on blogs. I would send my husband alone if he got the appointment. Make sure he’s well versed in exactly what you want and are willing to accept. Good luck!!

He knows my ideal specs but he could just decline everything if it’s not my ideal spec [emoji13] I’m slightly open to other specs though if I get to see the other options. He thinks that I shouldn’t settle for anything other than black lol so there’s a risk there as he is quite blunt.

Just reading the forums and social media, I do agree that it seems to be common that hubbies get offered bags better than others.

Thanks for ur advice, do you know whether I can ask for a follow up appt if all didn’t go well in the first appt? I can probably try ask the hostess to see if they can slot me in for one if it was available.

How do ya'll send the boxes back home? do you use an international shipper? or do you lug them in your luggages? :confused1:

I ask the concierge at the hotel to ship it via the French postal service...but I ship the box EMPTY. It usually costs ~40 euros. At the Park Hyatt, they usually put it in a box without being asked. At a lesser hotel that I stayed at once, they literally taped butcher paper (the brown ones) to the box directly - as you can imagine, it came back a little mangled and I literally torn the box ripping the butcher paper off. I was less than amused at their carelessness so best to specify how you want it to be boxed and shipped.

I’ve been reading on this thread past 12 months or so and in Paris for a week and just wanted to share my experience. This is a bit of a long post. Lined up at the Sevres store about 45mins before opening (others closer to the front said they got there about 8:30am) and was seen shortly after opening. Asked for a Kelly and Jige, no Kelly and declined on the Jige colour. Then asked for a P22 which *squeals* I got offered in a lovely etoupe with GHW. Also bought a Twilly and the SA was very patient whilst I was mulling over it. Had been looking for P22 across 5 countries and scored in the 10th store since this summer. Almost given up hope! Had the P18 before but too small for me (I’m 1.68m). Another customer got a black P18 GHW as well. Next day queued at George V this time about 75mins before opening, got seen at 12. Again no Kelly but got the Jige in anemone which hadn’t expected but it works (no candy colours). Was also shown another clutch which had a beautiful colour, forgot the name. On FSH, secured an appt on my 4th day at 3pm - had to pinch myself as first time and no purchase history there. Sadly my appt took under 10mins, no luck.

On service, all 3 SAs were professional but were quick to the point “what do you want?” The SA at George V did ask if my profile was in the system before doing her search so guess I passed the test. The FSH SA was clinical, took my wishes on a piece of paper (I specified K32 design, or B30, colour and any hardware). She did ask “anything else, any other bags.” I said bag accessories and no to other bags politely, didn’t get a good vibe and guess just didn’t build a rapport with her as she came back quickly (stopping to have words with another SA) and saying they didn’t have any K or B. I always thanked them for their time and help. At Sevres, the SA brought the Jige to show me even though it was in a colour I said I didn’t want and at that point I ventured to ask for P22, which at FSH even if I wanted to I didn’t feel I could ask. The other customer who got the black P18, whom I met again at George V next day said her sister got a K at Sevres but had to buy other things like jewelry.

Afterwards I thought, did I come across as a reseller, did I not share my love and knowledge of the brand etc, lol so victim blaming. The FSH service was not rude as a lot of reviews outside had said, they are a busy store and ppl expect too be fawned over a lot. In the end, even though didn’t score at FSH, understand they can’t offer a bag to every customer and I’m very pleased with my purchases. Given the amount of appt rejections I would suggest applying at least 2-3x before arrival.

Would love to hear more of others FSH experiences where one didn’t score, see what we can learn.

I have just placed the empty box inside the empty suitcase ( if more than one bag, place the boxes inside each other). Then pack clothes etc.in and around box.Takes up very little room, minimal weight. Bag(s) go in their sleeper pouch, into your carry on ( which you technically need with receipts to show at VAT). Voila!

Thanks, I was just wondering. I went to Paris this but declined offers and didnt buy any H. So next time I do decide to buy something I will keep this in mind.

We just came back from DH’s appt at fsh, the times moved from 1.50pm to 3.30pm. When the appt was ready for us, we met a nice friendly SA, gave her our Wishlist, took about 10 mins and she returned saying all iconic bags are out of stock. We politely exited the store. The experience was overall pleasant but of course I was disappointed by the outcome. I still have my own appt to wait for so we will see what comes out of that if I get an appt even. I thought of queueing to see whether there were any cancellations but I decided not to, and prefer to try enjoy the rest of my trip. Also, if the SA was honest about stock availability of my specs, I didn’t want to be double disappointed either. I will post another update if I get an appt under my name. Thanks for everyone’s advice so far :)

Sorry to hear that  but don’t lose hope.. o got my appointment on my last day in Paris..
Where you open for others colors or you strictly asked for a black kelly?!
And still request appointments under your husbands name.. you won’t lose anything in trying..

Thanks for consoling me dear. I will recover and focus on enjoying Paris! We asked for black but closed off by saying we are open to dark neutrals too.

I found out through another friend of mine that the SA we dealt with today coincidentally was the SA that she and her friend dealt with in the past on separate occasions. And they had the same exact experience where the SA’s default answer was no bags at all. Since then my friend found a lovely SA and her new SA mentioned that this SA only works with big ‘Richard mille’ clients only. Oh well, good to know our experience was consistent with others who had to deal with her. Nothing we could have done differently other than if we rocked up in Richard mille watches [emoji23]

I got an appt under my name today. Went in at 10.30am and was served by a nice SA. Gave her my wishlist and same outcome, she returned with no b k or c. Only the mosaic bag which I politely turned down. That’s it for FSH. Pretty sure they have these quota bags, just not for me. Not sure what else I could have done to change the outcome but I did my best, followed the protocol, was polite, dressed proper. Just didn’t have an SA who wanted to work with me on the iconic bags.

I am sorry to hear of your experiences. I think many of us on this forum can relate to them. Even though I now have an SA who can help me, I went through the struggles before that and without her I would again. Please keep in mind that no matter how much you like Hermes, at the end of the day it's just stuff. Hermes has somehow crafted a very clever marketing system where no matter how much money you have it still doesn't guarantee access to their products. And that drives the incredible demand for them. Your moment will come.

What a complete bummer! I’ve been looking forward to your updates each day! My SA said it’s really hard to get a B, K, or C from Paris. I was just there in May for 5 days and couldn’t even get an appointment.
Are you in the US? If so, and if ever you go to Hawaii, try the stores there. I’ve heard on blogs and videos they are likely to sell quota bags to tourists.
You can always go the resale route, too. Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are happening on reputable sites now.

Were you very firm with your wishlist like you said before? Because a small bag in black (and neutrals) are simply hard regardless. If that’s the case it’s probably just because your wishlist is difficult and not so much the SA. So sorry to hear it didn’t work out!
