I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

So my happy ending had s bit of an annoying twist.

For my background, I love luxury bags, mostly Chanel. I’m not one of those people who turns around bags frequently by buying selling repeat. I love my collection and plan to hold on to them for a lifetime and eventually pass them down in my family. In February of 2017 I was in Paris at the end of a work trip for a weekend. Back then they had the infamous line, but it hadn’t gotten to the absurd levels yet. I waited from around 8:30 and got an appointment and my first ever Hermes B. You can read my extrmely excited post from back then in this thread. It was a magical day and I really couldn’t believe it. I was back in Paris this past August same type of deal, weekend at the end of a work trip in Europe. They had the appointment system and I couldn’t get an appointment.

This week I was here for vacation and tried making appointments for both my husband and I. My husband got an appointment on his third try even though he has never set foot in a Hermes boutique, let alone have purchase history at any one. His appointment was at 10:30, so we went. The SA was friendly and seemed genuinely interested in what I wanted. I gave him my preferences and he came back with a vert vertigo B. I thought it was beautiful and took it.

Here’s the annoying part. I get back to our hotel and it says the color is cactus in the receipt. I actually asked the SA if it was the new cactus color and he said no, it’s vertigo. So I spend the whole evening obsessing over what color it is. It’s not that I don’t love it, it’s beautiful, but for that amount of money I want the receipt to be correct. Turns out I get an appointment with my passport on the 5th try, at 6:20. I don’t care that it’s late because I already have a bag. I thought I’d go to inquire about the color. Well the SAs were stumped too! 5 of them were staring at the bag bringing out swatches in cactus and vertigo! It became this thing on the second floor. The consensus was it’s vertigo, so I asked why the receipt said cactus, and no one really could give an answer except maybe some labeling error in the store room.

I guess it’s not a big deal if I love the color but has this happened to anyone else ?

Someone mispackaged a scarf I was buying by switching it with another person's scarf. This does not surprise me. I discovered it too late to trundle over to the store. We would have missed our plane. Plus, the receipt says the wrong thing: it says what I was supposed to get not what I actually got. I'm not thrilled with having this scarf.

I suppose the solution to this kind of issue is unpacking the stuff immediately and checking out what the receipt says. I did not do that. Nobody ever packed anything wrong at H before in my experience.

I can fully understand that you need to have the receipt and color correspond, @classybags4ever. Did the store have another cactus or vertigo bag in the same leather as you had to compare directly with your purchase? I know from my sewing hobby that comparing swatches to something (like a garment) I'm trying to match is hard b/c the swatch is tiny compared with a garment. Draping one fabric against another is a better way to tell how light will bounce off one fabric vs. another. Did the SAs go to the window to see how the colors compared in daylight? That's what I try to do with everything I'm trying to match.

Thank you to everyone for sharing your stories with me. I am so thrilled to share mine.

My husband and I (with our 3 kids in tow) were rejected for Monday appt at FSH and decided to shop at Sèvres mid afternoon with no expectation. The store was pretty quiet as I browsed the jewelry section to check out some rings and bracelets. I immediately hit it off with a sweet SA who showed me many pieces to help me work out what I like. After a good amount of time, I mentioned to her I hope to buy a bag on my trip. She told me to try putting my name in to see if they would still take me with leather department and sure enough it was too late in the day to apply for appt. The Hostess was so sweet as we talked about family and she wished me the best of luck. Another SA in department came over to chat and offer her opinion on jewelry and asked me what bag I was after. I told her: Kelly 25/28 or Birkin 30 gold, gris or noir and was happy with any hardware. After I was finished looking around, my SA held 2 rings for me, ordered another to be transferred in to try for the next day and suggested I come back to meet her tomorrow afternoon (she was away at another location in the morning). It was getting late and I decided to look at bracelets as well. She introduced me to a male SA. He was kind and very patient in showing me bracelets. I ended up choosing between a mini dog and CDC. In the time I was with him we really hit it off and I shared with him how much I love the brand because of the quality. I did briefly mention I was hoping to score my first classic bag on this trip. It was nice he was able to share with me his experience with working in retail space. We spent some time talking about different leathers and how in the end classic wins out for me. I bought the noir box with gold CDC bracelet. As I was checking out (store was closed), I continued chatting with him and his colleague asking them both about barenia faubourg leather and how it ages. They obviosly knew I loved gold color. His colleague then mentions to me he might have one. I just smiled and played it cool knowing the store was already closed. The entire time during my visit I never asked for the bag. I said thank you and told them I will come back tomorrow for jewelry.

After getting rejected second day at FSH, we decided to drag the kids back to Sèvres again. Our arrival time is 11am. After checking in, the hostess at the desk informed me there are 19 guests in front of me and would text in approx 2 hours. There were so many customers in the store it was so overwhelming I left and decided to come back. We then decide to try our luck at George V. As soon as I walk through the doors, a lady set me up immediately with a male SA. He sat down and asked me what bag I was looking for. He left for a bit and came back telling me sorry there is no stock available. I ask him if it's possible to see a couple rings. He says yes but that will not help me with the bag. I reassured him I am still interested and walked out with a silver ring. We decide to check out the sites and grab a quick lunch with our 3 kids. We quickly returned back to Sevres after receiving our text (2.5 hours after applying for appt). This time I walk in and was immediately greeted by my male SA from evening prior. I told him I was trying to check in and he said he was happy to serve me! He normally works in assessory department but was able to help me with my appt. I explained to him I still need to meet jewelry SA, find a Calvi, belt kit for my husband. He asked what I want to do first and I eagerly told him bag. I mention to him it's nice the store is not so crowded and that I was there in the morning and had to leave early. He said he was surprised he didn't see me. He pulled out different bag models to try. I felt he was trying to gauge if I was open to Kelly 32 retourne or a lighter color (beige). I said no. I really want to prioritize color gold, gris, noir before style but would be happy with any K25/K28/B30. He left for a short bit and asked us to head to a small back room with one large box! He presented me gold evercolor K28 retourne with rose azalee chevre lining with palladium hardware! I was so happy and overwhelmed. YES!!! We left the store couple shopping hours later still undecided about which ring but was able to purchase a Calvi holder, twilly for myself and belt kit for my husband. I was impressed how pleasant the entire experience was for us.

I really felt the store treated us with so much kindness despite the struggles of bringing in our three kids. When we walked in the second day I felt as though we was greeted by so many friendly faces at Sevres. Not sure if they knew we were there to buy a bag, jewelry, or just thought we were crazy to come back a second day with three kids! In the end, I don't think it's about what you buy but more about connecting with a SA, demonstrating genuine interested in the brand, and just hoping the right bag will be in inventory.

Oh congratulations your experience sounds so lovely! When you settle in back home please post photos I would loveeeeeee to see your Devine bag!!!!!

I realise that you were not able to take the scarf back to the store because you had a plane to catch, but did you make any attempt to contact the store to see if you could send it back for it to be exchanged?

classybags4ever's story is a bit different, but I have known colour ways and serial numbers not corresponding correctly.

Hi all,

Do you know if the B/K quota is 1 every 6 month or 2 per year?

I am asking because I have bought a B in Paris last month, and I might have another travel plan to Paris coming up in the next couple of months. So if I can purchase another B/K, that would be 2 this year. Or do I need to maintain at least 6 months before they will allow me for my next purchase?
I believe it 1 b/k per semester. There are 2 semesters in a year.

First semester is January -June
Second semester is July - December

So theoretically if you purchase a B/K in June you could purchase another in July.

This is how it works in the US. Please somebody correct me if I’m mistaken about this.

FSH seems to have its own rules. Some say it's a rolling "one per six months" others have reported one per calendar year total. Seems like it's up to the SAs discretion.

There are exceptions, especially if you have an SA. I have purchased a B in March and another one in May one year. I have a specific SA who has been my SA for over 4 years.

Hi @Coco.lover, just curious, have you seen your SA since the beginning of this year? Any issue with making an appt to see her/him? I'm asking b/c I've been w the same SA for almost 4 years as well. Never had a problem - however, this is the first time I got a response from the leather dept instead to tell me she isn't available to see me... I can't tell if it's b/c she's away for vacay, or if they've changed their policy again..

No to comparing with other bags. Yes they went to the window with the smaller items and swatches. I actually love the vert vertigo which I have, so I guess I should focus on that. The thing is the manager couldn’t get me a new receipt because the bag was bought with my husbands passport and he didn’t come with me the second time, and it would mess up the vat refund form since they have to correspond. She did offer her card and offered to mail me the new receipt once the refund goes through, so I’ll follow up with her but in my experience refunds can take up to two months.

I guess I just wanted everything to be perfect. It’s odd that the leather and size is correct but the color off by a shade of green. I wonder if it was human error somewhere down the line with mislabeling the color due to shades being so close.

It's good to learn more of the story and that the manager did offer to send you documentation that matched your bag exactly. That would be worth waiting for. Two months is not long and not important unless you wanted to resell it right away. From what you wrote, I assume that a replacement receipt could have been issued there and then had it been bought using your passport.

Yes you’re right, hopefully I’ll get it. And I never sell my Hermes! I really just wanted everything to be perfect and want the receipt in case I ever need to take it to my home boutique for replacement or refurbishment, so they don’t ask why the color is different. I do plan to hold on to this beauty forever.

I will follow up with the manager and hopefully she can mail me a new one with the correct color.

It's like the current colors of bleu agate and bleu Brighton being very close. Same deal.

Speaking of greens, I would like an olive green bag. Canopee in 2009 or so was the closest but I could not make that happen. That's a long drought for something olive green.

Hello, just came back from Paris and no luck. I tried to get an appt for both my husband and myself and failed. I was really heartbroken. My husband was laughing at me being so devastated over a handbag when we were in the most beautiful city in the world but he also felt bad. He convinced me to go to the George V location.
I walked in sometime in the afternoon and was told no more appointments were available. I explained that I only had today left so the Lady taking appointments was nice and said she would squeeze me but I had to wait. I told her I didn’t mind. I waited for about 15 mins and an SA came up to me. She asked what I wanted.... I explained a Birkin or a Kelly or a Constance. She came back and said nothing was available.

I than began to ask for other handbags but none were available in the colors that I wanted or the styles. I was extremely disappointed and worn out by the whole experience. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
