Heyy everyone, I'm so upset i just sold a bracelet on ebay as it was a bit big for me and bought a new one. The person who i sold mine to has contacted me saying she had taken it to a jeweller and concluded that its fake! It is not fake i know a fake bracelet when i see one, i work in a shop selling pandora! She wants a refund and i know its not a fake and would never dream of selling one. I'm sorry for venting what do you think i should do? Thanks

Hey Laurie Lou - sorry to hear this has happened.

A similar thing happened to me recently when I sold one of my dad's tennis rackets to someone via ebay. The buyer contacted me to say they had checked the racket out with a 'specialist' and they accused me of selling fakes. I think they were just trying it on and were hoping I would balk and give them a refund (and let them keep the racket). They threatened to leave my negative feedback if I didnt give them a refund within 3 days....

I was so mad and upset. I rang ebay helpline for advice, which I recommend you do too - they were quite sympathetic and I asked them to log on their computer that I had rung for advice and then made sure I followed everything they told me to do. I thought that would go in my favour because I wanted to demonstrate I was a concerned 'seller'

They advised me to contact the buyer by telephone - you can request the buyer's contact details through ebay.

I tried that, but the buyer wouldnt return any of my calls so I followed it up with an email. In my email, I said that I was sorry they felt the racket was fake and I had tried numerous times to contact them by phone. I also stated that I was 100% confident that the racket was genuine. I told them that I had the original receipt and if they wanted to take it further, they could file a 'significantly not as described' claim through ebay.

At no point did I offer to accept a return or give them a refund because to me, that would be like admitting the racket was fake - which it most certainly wasnt!!

It was quite stressful for a few days but in the end, the buyer disappeared and I havent heard from them since. They never left me negative feedback.

At the end of the day, it's up to you...... - do you stand your ground (you know it;s real and work in a jewellery store!!!) or do you just want to give a refund? However you do hear horror stories of sellers who accept returns, who end up receiving a fake bracelet and buyer keeps your real bracelet, your refund and disappears off the face of the earth!!! That's another reason why I made a point of not giving my buyer the choice of a refund or return.

Good luck - hope you get it sorted.

Thanks neenabengals the buyer seems genuine though and i ended up selling it through paypal instead of ebay as she asked for a buy it now and i ended the listing and didn't want to pay to re list it for her and her not get it. I have assured her though its real by email and asked her to tell me what she believes is fake about it. Thanks for your advice but now i feel bad as i can't even contact ebay :(

Hhmmm - she might be trying it on knowing that you cancelled your listing, so she could buy it on a buy it now, and wouldnt be able to contact ebay for advice. Or she might simply be having buyers remorse! But at the end of the day, her buyers remorse isnt your problem - You are confident that your item is genuine. How about contacting paypal for advice?

However, if you do think she is genuine and its just a misunderstanding, how about asking her to call you (give her your number) and perhaps you can chat over the phone and assure her that it is genuine. Can you not send her a copy of your original receipt or anything? If i was the buyer, I think an offer to contact the seller by telephone would assure me that the seller is trying to everything possible to confirm the item is genuine.

Keep all records of emails (just in case she files a claim through paypal) and if you do speak to her over the phone, send her an email afterwards to summarise what you discussed over the phone. Hope you get it sorted.

It is so frustrating when you try to do your best for a buyer and then it comes back to bite you in the bum.....

I would advise posting a thread on ebay section to see what others say...

I am wondering the buyer just doesn't know that there are 2 different clasp designs on the bracelet (crown o on "Pandora" and plain o)?!?! Maybe that could help clear up the debate.
**Laurie Lou...next time you get a bracelet that is too big or small or whatever, try exchanging it for a better size. I have done that a couple of times with gifts for friends. No matter what the retailer, they have exchanged, no questions asked. :queen:

Hi Lauri-Lou,
Did your buyer look at the ALE stamp inside the clasp?
I once bought a bracelet from an auction site (not eBay) and when I received it, it was fake with a forged ALE mark. The seller refused to admit that it was fake- but it obviously was, and the ALE mark was different than the ones on all my other Pandora bracelets.
You bought yours at a jewellery shop, didn't you? You say that you work in a shop selling Pandora, but you don't actually say where YOU got the bracelet from. Was it an authorised Pandora retailer?
I think it's good that you asked the buyer why she thinks it is not authentic. Have you found out why she claims it is fake? She must have a reason- so the very first thing is to find out why she (and the jeweller she took it to) think that it is not authentic.

I'd just ask her to return the bracelet and if you are sure that she returned the same bracelet to you, just refund her and re-list it. Make sure you get a good close-up of the ALE inside the clasp. I sell on eBay as well and now make sure that the stamps are visible on my pictures whenever I have Pandora for sale.

I think Pandorama has some good advice.
Try to call and talk with her. If she's still not satisfied have her return it to you and just relist it. People are always buying the bracelets on eBay so I doubt you'll have trouble selling it again. Sorry this happened to you!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have comtacted her but she hasn't contacted me back yet. I have bought so many bracelets in the past i can't remember where i got that actual one from but i just know its genuine. Thanks everyone for the support x
